CCF strives to improve the social and economic wellbeing of disadvantaged communities by providing opportunities for people to develop their skills, gain qualifications and improve their health. Set up in 1997, Community Connect Foundation (CCF) has been working in partnership with many private and public sector organisations to improve the social and economic wellbeing of the disadvantaged communities in inner city areas. Through its work, CCF has developed, in effect, into a Community Anchor serving a much wider range of residents, communities and geographical areas. Whilst its base in Smethwick is an important one for its ability to reach out to communities in Smethwick, much of its work is delivered across a larger geographical area. With the help and support of managed funding from a variety of sources, we have been able to provide quality service provisions to more than 8,000 people. A substantial number of these people have gained qualifications and moved on to find employment.It demonstrates our determination to reach out into all sections of our communities to provide essential training opportunities, heath advice and youth development support to those that need it most. The success of CCF relies on the charity’s strong partnerships with statutory providers and community-based organisations. Much of CCF’s work is delivered on an outreach basis throughout Sandwell and Birmingham. Having maintained an accreditation from Matrix Standards & Investors in People (IIP) since 2004, we are confident we deliver a quality assured service consistently which is benchmarked by prestigious national standards. As Inspiring Maths Education, I’m continuing my extensive 20+ year track record supporting primary and secondary schools to improve and develop the quality of teaching and learning with a specific focus on mathematics. This includes providing high quality, bespoke subject specific training, support, advice, consultancy and professional development across the country and internationally. As an independent consultant, I wear a number of hats working for a variety of organisations. I am an accredited professional lead for the National Centre for the Excellence in Teaching Mathematics (NCETM). I am a work group lead for NCETM Maths Hubs across the Midlands: North Midlands (NM) and East Midlands West (EMW). These look at Mastery Readiness, Developing Teaching for Mastery, SKTM for TAs and ECTs in the primary phase, as well as Y5-8 continuity. As an associate lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University, I work with student teachers at the very start of their careers in teaching as both an academic mentor and lecturer. I am a School Development Lead for ARK Curriculum Mathematics Mastery programme visiting schools to support them in their mastery journey. I deliver mathematics training for Teachers’ Courses and Resources (TCR) in Staffordshire, offering a range of CPD opportunities both face to face and remotely which allows me to work with teachers both in this country and beyond. I have a real passion for the teaching and learning of mathematics and have had a considerable involvement in teaching mathematics both as a teacher, subject leader and adviser over a long career. My enthusiasm for mathematics is infectious and I have vast experience of working with a variety of stakeholders in schools to guide and inspire the next generation of mathematicians.

I live and work in Solihull and am married with two boys. I have an obsessive love of sewing, which has driven my career through a wide range of sewing related experiences. I came from a family of sewers and from a very early age was encouraged to be creative. My love of embroidery and needlework led me to pursue a career in teaching. I attended a specialist needlework and home economics teacher training College in Liverpool. I always enjoyed "hands on work" and gained experience working with an expert team of fitting and alteration seamstresses at an exclusive dress shop the summer I finished at Liverpool. I wanted a creative career, so I applied for the position of wardrobe assistant at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. This was a wonderful work experience, sewing fabulous fabrics and making a diverse range of costumes. The theatre wardrobe mistress encouraged me to continue studying and I enrolled for a City and Guilds course. Although theatre working hours were long, they were flexible and I could study and work full time. I achieved merit for City and Guilds Creative Studies; two years later I received a distinction in Fashion and Design and won the year prize. My qualifications and experience opened another career opportunity in the fashion industry. I wanted to work fewer hours and the job I was offered provided training in production planning and buying. Working regular hours I decided to think again about the teaching career I had abandoned. I was employed by Birmingham Adult Education Department to work in evenings teaching Embroidery and Needlework. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching, so when I married and the family arrived I gave up full time work in industry. I returned to college, updated my teaching qualifications and became a part time teacher In the early 90's I wrote the Tailoring Programme for the West Midlands Access Foundation, later used by Open College Network. By 1996 I was determined to offer my own courses, now known as Gill Arnold Dressmaking Training. In 1997 I became Sewing World magazine's pattern specialist. Over 20 years teaching has given me a wealth of experience and knowledge to produce articles on patterns and fitting. I have also written for Sew Today and American publications. With the support of the sewing industry I enjoy being a regular exhibitor at shows all over the country including the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham. My yearly programme provides a full range of sewing events, exhibitions, seminars, cloth sales, trips and courses.

Tumble Tots is Nottingham's premium children's physical activity programme, from Walking (around 1 year old) to school age (4 years). Designed to develop children’s physical skills of agility, balance, co-ordination and climbing, through the use of brightly coloured Tumble Tots equipment, especially designed for little people. According to the physical activity guidelines issued by the four Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland regular physical activity in children and young people is associated with improved learning and attainment, better mental health and cardiovascular fitness, also contributing to healthy weight status. Toddlers and preschoolers should spend at least 180 minutes (3 hours) per day in a variety of physical activities.
