Often your recruitment and induction processes determine whether you retain your staff and volunteers. A poor induction often leads to a lack of productivity and motivation. This half day course is designed to help participants ensure that new staff receive a comprehensive and welcoming induction so that they can settle into their job or role quickly and with confidence. The course can be run as a one-off session or can be incorporated into a series of sessions on managing staff.

Attend this Combined Course and you will be awarded a Paediatric First Aid L3 (12 hours) and a First Aid at Work L3 (18 hours) certificate.

Teaching basic number skills to children with Down syndrome and other learning difficulties using the Numicon approach. Basic number skills are vital to enable everyday social inclusion and independence. The training will commence with an overview of the learning profile of a child with Down syndrome; exploring working memory and how this impacts on learning numbers. It will detail how children learn basic number skills – recognising numbers, saying number names, counting to find ‘how many?’ and early hands on addition. It will explore the challenges faced by children who have Down syndrome and other learning disabilities and demonstrate how the use of Numicon as a visual representation of number can help to overcome these difficulties and lead to increased understanding and confidence.

The Emergency Fist Aid at Work is an accredited 1 day, instructor led course in a fully equipped training room. We use a mixture of training methods such as hands on activities, role play, group discussion, games and the use of equipment / technology to cover the different learning styles of the individual. All learners will have the skills and knowledge to provide the organisation with Emergency First Aider’s that can provide treatment to their casualties in a prompt, safe and effective manner. A range of subjects are covered including:- • Responsibilities and reporting • Resuscitation and AED awareness • Burns • Assessment of the situation • Anatomy • Choking • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty • Minor injuries • Epilepsy • Basic hygiene in First Aid • Bleeding control • Shock Certification Practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor, and a three year qualification will be issued to those who satisfy the criteria. In addition, the HSE strongly recommend that all students undergo an annual refresher programme of three hours. Instructions Please can learners ensure they wear trousers and a full shoe. Learners need to be physically fit and well to undertake the activities for First Aid Training, which requires learners to carryout CPR on the floor. The Moving &Handling Course is a full day course to ensure that care workers are competent and confident to carry out their duties to the standards expected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) when Moving & Handling People. The course is a mixture of theory and practical elements, using various forms of equipment used in the community. Training Aim: To equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and effectively move and handle individuals, minimising the risk of injury to both the care giver and the person being moved, whilst promoting dignity and comfort for the individual. Learning Outcomes: By the end of the session, learners will be able to: Discuss the legal responsibilities, procedures and duty of care when moving and handling individuals Demonstrate abilities when using equipment in line with individual handling plans Explain and understand biomechanical principles Discuss and demonstrate safer moving and handling principles and techniques Identify and demonstrate the safe use of moving and handling equipment Demonstrate abilities to risk assess and carry out POSRA Recognise unsafe practice and the implementing of safer practices Instructions Please can learners ensure they wear trousers and a full shoe. It can be taken after our 2 hour Baby and Child First Aid class, or in isolation for those parents who are starting their weaning journey, or have a baby on the move!
