the mindful seasonalist

Hello there By way of introduction, I'm a seasonal, 'British flowers only' florist and workshop facilitator.   Once upon another life, I worked in Law on behalf of asbestos victims and those suffering from occupational stress and PTSD, but I have always been a gardener. Nature and flowers were forever a refuge, and it was to those things that I returned when I wanted to escape the every day.   I also saw how being in their own green spaces became comforting to clients suffering from terminal pain and psychological illness.  Nature and their gardens held them, and it was with this in mind that I turned to British grown, seasonal flowers as a way of mindful, creative living.  Social and therapeutic horticulture is my passion, and so, too, is allowing flowers to be our wild remedy whenever we need it. My workshops are designed to allow you to reconnect with yourself mindfully as we explore seasonal flower design for wellness.  Together, we create with freshly grown flowers and foliage instinctively and intuitively, allowing our hearts to lead our design.  We work slowly, and in the moment. Gemma lives in North Manchester, UK, with our Director of Happiness. She began her professional career as a lawyer, but after a restructuring at her law firm in 2007, she was successful in securing a management position. Over the next several years as well as managing teams and departements, Gemma became involved in training and developing staff and employee engagement projects. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for developing and supporting others to improve personal and team performance and employee engagement. When Gemma isn’t solving leadership and management problems worldwide, she’s either travelling around it, at the theatre, hiking or paddle boarding, or just lying on the sofa with Toulouse.

We have training from 60 minutes to 2 days, teaching skills that can be applied by everyone. • Mental Health • Self-Harm • Suicide Prevention • Workplace Suicide is the leading cause of death in men under 49 and women under 35. With a rise in mental ill-health, there is an ever increasing need for all individuals to understand how to spot signs of distress, effectively respond, and support a person in need. Mental Health Learning was founded in 2018 as a consultancy and training provider to support members of the community and workplaces to do just this. Our mission is to ensure that skills continue to grow amongst those who are most likely to see the signs of mental ill-health, self-harm, and thoughts of suicide. Our motivation is that our trainees can recognise these signs, then intervene to reduce harm in your community or workplace. We exist not to tick a box, but to make a difference; to teach real-life skills. We work with you and your team to understand your needs and provide the training that is most suitable for you. If it’s not one of our regular courses, we will develop a bespoke course specifically for you. All our training is evidence based, and a number of our courses are accredited. We work with places of education, corporate companies such as Law firms and Accountancy firms, Health Care Professionals, Housing Associations, and more, as well as general members of the public. The majority of our training is provided in-house – when we come to you, it typically makes the practicalities easier. We can also arrange training at a local venue on your behalf.
