If you're an intermediate silver clay artist and want to take your skills to the next level, Advanced Silver Jewellery Workshop is for you. In this workshop, you'll learn how to make rings, filigree, and mirror-polished pieces with advanced techniques. You'll leave with a set of quality products that will show your true talent as an artist. And best of all? You'll be able to use these skills on more complex projects later on!

Come and learn to make your own unique solid silver ring from the amazing material that is silver clay incorporating a stone. I will show you how to size, design, make and fire your ring into a beautiful solid silver piece ready to wear home. You will make a patterned ring band and a ring with a stone setting. Our instructor, Louise, is fully qualified as a senior tutor and holds an Art Clay Higher Diploma and has been teaching jewellery making for over ten years.

Join us for a hands-on workshop where you will learn the basics of silver clay work. You will practice rolling, cutting, adding texture, firing and finishing your pieces. You will leave with a greater understanding of the process and the confidence to continue working with this exciting material at home. You'll leave with a finished piece of jewellery that you can wear proudly or give as a gift! There's nothing quite like making something yourself—and when you do it with silver clay, the process is even more exciting because of how versatile it is. You can create anything from simple charms to elaborate necklaces and earrings. Once you've learned this process, you'll be able to do it at home whenever inspiration strikes!

We will then explore a range of lighting styles and techniques and how to achieve them. There will be plenty of opportunity to practise these techniques throughout the day, with Cathy giving guidance and feedback. You are welcome to bring some of your jewellery, together with any props or stands, as well as any photographic equipment you may have (you can use either a camera or a phone, and a tripod is highly recommended). You will be moving around the workshop, within the corridor area and outside to explore different environments to photograph your work. Private tuition usually takes place during the week. Please contact Anna to check availability prior to purchasing your tuition time. One hour’s private jewellery making tuition from Anna at The Studio (if this is your first session then it must be for a minimum of two hours). Use of all the tools and equipment at The Studio are included. Materials charged extra, or you are welcome to buy your own in advance. I recommend using either Cooksongold or Betts Metals for this.
