Silver Clay Jewellery Class for Beginners. Have fun, learn new skills, and socialise in this beginner’s class! Learn how to create beautiful, hallmark quality sterling silver clay pendants and take home your handmade unique necklace.

Come and play n silver to design and make your own silver pendant in this three and a half hour workshop.

Make your own silver earrings, choosing your design and walking away with your own special jewellery from the day.

In this afternoon session, you will create your very own set of 3 silver stacking rings. You will learn how to calculate your finger size, solder, form the metal, and texture and polish the silver to create your lovely stack of rings. You can decide on their design to create your own individual set. This is an excellent starting project for a beginner. For those with more experience, it is an opportunity to develop your skills further. WHEN: Saturday 17th August 2-5pm WHERE:  Workshop 925 based at The Mayford Centre, just outside of Woking and very close to Guildford. YOU WILL BE PROVIDED WITH: Two 7.5 cm lengths 2mm silver sterling round wire One 7.5 cm length 2mm beaded silver sterling wire If you wish to purchase additional silver to create more rings (should time allow), we stock silver which you are able to purchase on the day. WHAT TO BRING: For safety reasons, during each class, you are required to wear appropriate footwear, we request that no open toed shoes are worn within Workshop 925. Long hair should also be tied back when working with the equipment. You may also wish to bring a notebook. We have handouts for many demonstrations, but there are always many tips and tricks given verbally by the tutor, which some might like to keep note of. You will first learn different ways to texture metal, then you will choose one to texture your silver disc, create a bezel for your stone, solder on the ring or bail and finally set your stone and polish. There will be a selection of semi-precious stones to choose from.

In this intermediate setting class we are going to be looking into traditional techniques for channel setting stones into pre-cast silver rings. This attractive and popular setting style allows for you to learn more advanced setting techniques that will take your skills to a new level. We will discuss how to lay out the stones within the setting and discuss fine tolerances. You will then prepare your ring for setting before you begin drilling and opening the channel and finally set the stones in place. By the end of the day you will have the knowledge needed to apply these advanced techniques to your own designs. WHEN: Saturday 5th October 10-5pm WHERE:  Workshop 925 based at The Mayford Centre, just outside of Woking and very close to Guildford. Unit F9 The Mayford Centre, Mayford Green Woking, Surrey  GU22 0PP TUTOR: Stephen Barnett WHAT DOES THE DAY INVOLVE? This is an excellent introduction to stone setting for those who have always wished to learn to set stones. For those with some experience, you can create a more detailed ring which explores textures and more advanced design techniques. WHEN: Saturday 26th October 10-5pm WHERE: Workshop 925 based at The Mayford Centre, just outside of Woking and very close to Guildford. Unit F9 The Mayford Centre, Mayford Green Woking, Surrey  GU22 0PP TUTOR: Kirsten Hendrich WHAT DOES THE DAY INVOLVE? We will have some stones available to choose at the workshop, however feel free to bring along any stones you may wish to set. Time and materials allow you to create one ring. Some stones might not be suitable due to size or shape, so please be aware if you do bring along your own stones, it might not be suitable for the setting technique but we will advise you on the day. Stones shouldn’t be smaller than 8-10mm for those new to setting as they can be hard to work with and is it harder to see the processes involved in setting. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: None, all abilities are welcomed. We support you throughout the session and provide demonstrations to show you the techniques and steps needed to create your project.
