These modules cover risk assessment and control, Health and Safety Legislation, common hazards, accident and incident investigation. Also covered is performance measurement. Effectively covering all aspects of safety management in the workplace. To obtain the IOSH Managing Safely certificate, attendees will need to complete a four day course. Certification: An IOSH Managing Safely certificate is awarded to all those who attend the course successfully completing both written and practical assessments. Candidates will also receive an excellent workbook from IOSH, with all the tools to help them once they are back in the workplace. Understanding of the course material is evaluated by means of a 45-minute written assessment paper consisting of 20 multi-format questions. There is also a practical assessment. Planned changes to the Construction Skills Certification Scheme mean that from September 2017, Construction Related Occupation (CRO) cards will be phased out. Without registration on an accepted course, or an industry-recognised qualification for your trade, you will not be able to apply for a CSCS card, unless you apply for the CSCS Labourer Card, to access construction sites. An IOSH Working Safely Certificate, along with a CITB Health & Safety Certificate, allows you to apply for a Labourer Card. Therefore, from September 2017, without a CSCS card, you won't get on site. The Labourer Card may be the only way you can get on site.

The IOSH Managing Safelyaward is valid for three years. Award-holders need to undertake this one-day refresher programme every three years in order to maintain their status. This very interactive, practical programme covers: An interactive case study exercise is used throughout the day to apply refreshed knowledge to the plan-do-check-act model and then link it back to the workplace. For example, participants examine the elements of a safety and health policy, come up with ideas to influence safety culture, and select the best communication methods to engage a workforce.
