The aim of the course is to ensure that safety requirements are appreciated by managers. To enable them to review their own safety systems. Learning Objectives: On successful completion of the course, delegates should be able to: Explain ‘managing safely’. Explain the component parts of a recognised safety management system such as HSG65. Identify the data and techniques required to produce an adequate record of an incident. To demonstrate the procedure for an accident investigation, recognising the human factors involved. Describe statutory requirements for reporting and procedures for checking non-reporting. Understanding of the course material is evaluated by means of a 45-minute written assessment paper consisting of 20 multi-format questions. There is also a practical assessment. IOSH Working Safely incorporating Workshop H&S Essentials

Planned changes to the Construction Skills Certification Scheme mean that from September 2017, Construction Related Occupation (CRO) cards will be phased out. Without registration on an accepted course, or an industry-recognised qualification for your trade, you will not be able to apply for a CSCS card, unless you apply for the CSCS Labourer Card, to access construction sites. An IOSH Working Safely Certificate, along with a CITB Health & Safety Certificate, allows you to apply for a Labourer Card. Therefore, from September 2017, without a CSCS card, you won't get on site. The Labourer Card may be the only way you can get on site.

The IOSH Managing Safelyaward is valid for three years. Award-holders need to undertake this one-day refresher programme every three years in order to maintain their status. This very interactive, practical programme covers: An interactive case study exercise is used throughout the day to apply refreshed knowledge to the plan-do-check-act model and then link it back to the workplace. For example, participants examine the elements of a safety and health policy, come up with ideas to influence safety culture, and select the best communication methods to engage a workforce.

The NEBOSH National Diploma is designed to provide the underpinning knowledge for a professional career in health and safety. The course is suitable for both newly appointed safety practitioners and those with substantial experience who wish to obtain Chartered Membership of IOSH.
