Qualification Information Upon completion students will have developed the skills and knowledge needed to provide effective emergency first aid to children and babies. This qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of: The Resuscitation Council (UK) Skills for Health Assessment Principles for First Aid Qualifications Course Content Following this course students will be able to Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider. Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is choking. Be able to assess an emergency situation safely. Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding. Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally. Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is suffering from shock. Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with bites, stings and minor injuries. Who should attend? This qualification is for anyone who cares for children and babies; including parents, guardians, grandparents or people who have a professional involvement with children and babies. Pre-requisites Students must be at least 16 years old on the first day of training. Assessment and Certifications Assessment of this course is continuous and also includes 1 theory/multiple choice question paper. Successful students will receive an Immerse Training Certificate, which is valid for three years. This certificate will be issued by Qualsafe, the awarding body for Immerse Training. Additional Information Completion of the Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid at Work includes 1 credit at Level 2 of the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF). Paediatric First Aid Paediatric First Aid at Work Two Day Course Cost:  £125 + vat per person This course has been developed for those who are working with children and infants. It will be of particular interest to teachers, child minders, crèche assistants, playgroup personnel and anyone else who has a responsibility for their welfare whilst in your care. The purpose of the qualification is for the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of paediatric first-aid situations. This two-day qualification fulfils the requirements for first aid training detailed in the Department for Education’s statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.  SYLLABUS A range of subjects is covered, including: Role of the Paediatric First Aider Primary survey Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED) Wounds, bleeding and shock Allergic reactions including anaphylaxis Head, neck and back injuries Seizure Choking Minor injuries Recovery position Fractures Foreign bodies Diabetic emergencies Asthma Meningitis Febrile convulsions Extreme cold and heat Electrical incidents Maximum of 12 People Students must be a minimum of 16 years of age to qualify. Numbers A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course. CERTIFICATION The qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. It is recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training. The learner will need to complete the full course again to re-qualify for a further three years. Did you know that incorrect manual handling is one of the most common causes of injury at work?  The QA Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification, designed to cover the basic principles of manual handling.  This theory-based qualification is ideal for all employees as it provides candidates with an awareness of safe manual handling practices and the risks of unsafe manual handling.  With subjects covered in just half a day, this course is an ideal way to reduce the risk of workplace manual handling injuries, whilst minimising disruption to your organisation’s day to day activities!  Please note that this qualification does not include practical sessions. Those requiring practical training should undertake the QA Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling (RQF).

This course is ideal for those in any role of responsibility within the construction industry, or for anyone looking to become a site manager in the future. The Site Management Safety Training Scheme is strongly regarded as one of the best available and provides you with a thorough health and safety training background within the current legal guidelines. Construction site managers and supervisors have a legal duty to ensure the health and safety of their fellow workers and the public. Not only are there laws and regulations to adhere to, there is a moral duty to do all that is possible to prevent accidents and injuries onsite. Therefore proper training is a necessity and a requirement. Attending SMSTS courses can show you comply with the laws and prepare you to manage a safe site at all times. SMSTS Course Breakdown When studying SMSTS courses you will be taught how to work and manage following the regulations stipulated by the Health and Safety at Work Act. Some of the areas which are covered during the five day SMSTS training course include: SITE SET UP RISK ASSESSMENTS METHOD STATEMENTS SCAFFOLDING EXCAVATIONS SCAFFOLDING DEMOLITION CONFINED SPACES You will be required to attend all five days of the course in order to be awarded the Site Management Safety Training Scheme qualification. During 5-day SMSTS courses delegates will need to show understanding of the main elements and pass the core exercises. At the end of the training you will be required to sit a final examination, passing the exam will mean you qualify for the SMSTS certificate which is then valid for five years. Staying In Date After the five years it is necessary to return for a two day SMSTS Refresher course to make sure you are still up to date with the latest health and safety regulations. By passing and maintaining your Site Management Safety Training Scheme training you are able to prove that you are complying with the demands and laws regarding construction health and safety. 5 day SMSTS courses are considered to be an indication of the competence of a Site Manger according to the Approved Code of Practice for the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM).
