Overview
This course is aimed at candidates that require the knowledge and practical skills to operate mobile elevating work platforms (scissor lifts) safely and efficiently while carrying out work at heights.
Course Content
Candidates will be able to:
Understanding the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a plant operator
Understand the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used, and be familiar with other types of information sources and relevant legislation
Locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
Locate and identify steering, driving and braking controls and explain their functions
Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
Check all emergency lowering functions
Safely mount and dismount the machine
Configure the machine for travel
Configure the machine for travel and manoeuvre it safely on level ground and inclines in open and confined areas
Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area, including overhead and underground hazards
Manoeuvre the machine to the work area and correctly configure in readiness to carry out accessing tasks
Carry out accessing tasks, at various points up to full operating height

She always wants to be completely absorbed by the world of the novel, to jump into the character&rsquo;s life and be swept into the narrative as if she&rsquo;s been there all along. She&rsquo;s drawn in by compelling characters and relationships, and loves stories with a mystery or question at the heart of them. She&rsquo;s open to these ideas being explored in a variety of ways, but at the moment, she&rsquo;d particularly like to find an epic love story, a fun, queer rom-com with an unusual setting or pitch, and/or a sweeping family saga. She leans more towards contemporary settings but does enjoy a historical backdrop too.</span></p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16px; box-sizing: border-box;" fr-original-style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16px;">In non-fiction, she&rsquo;s looking for narrative non-fiction, history from different perspectives and books that make complicated ideas around things like politics and literature more accessible. Her favourite type of non-fiction book is the one that makes you interested in something or someone you&rsquo;d never thought you would be. Sian Ellis-Martin joined Blake Friedmann in 2018 and is building a list of fiction and non-fiction at the agency. 
With regards to fiction, Sian is looking for commercial, upmarket and accessible literary novels. She always wants to be completely absorbed by the world of the novel, to jump into the character’s life and be swept into the narrative as if she’s been there all along. She’s drawn in by compelling characters and relationships, and loves stories with a mystery or question at the heart of them. She’s open to these ideas being explored in a variety of ways, but at the moment, she’d particularly like to find an epic love story, a fun, queer rom-com with an unusual setting or pitch, and/or a sweeping family saga. She leans more towards contemporary settings but does enjoy a historical backdrop too.
In non-fiction, she’s looking for narrative non-fiction, history from different perspectives and books that make complicated ideas around things like politics and literature more accessible. Her favourite type of non-fiction book is the one that makes you interested in something or someone you’d never thought you would be. The Book Club book
A Christmas Carol is the most famous Christmas story of all. Dickens combines social realism with exaggeration, black comedy, and the supernatural to tackle important questions about the poor and disadvantaged in English society. Ebenezer Scrooge is mean and unpleasant but will he change when the ghost of his old partner, Jacob Marley, haunts him on Christmas Eve? Scrooge is visited by three spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future, showing him his mistakes and leading to a change in his outlook. Charles Dickens tells this incredible story in fascinating language full of adjectives, as well as with real humanity.

HARNESSING THE POWER OF THE BREATH
The way we breathe affects everything we do, everything we think and everything we feel. It affects our sleep, our digestion, our immune system, our energy levels, our emotions, our ability to think clearly and our relationships, to name but a few.
In this course we will be combining my passions of Qigong and Breathwork to help bring us into balance so we can move though Autumn into winter full of peace and vitality.
Why Qigong and Breathwork?
Qigong is breathwork (Qi is Breath), it is an amazing way of opening and clearing the body, of making space for our healthy energy to flow. It allows us to stay relaxed and receptive without forcing or pushing. It is easy to learn and naturally attuned to your individual body and how it wants to expand, release and recharge.
Breathwork is simply bringing our conscious attention to our breath and is one of the most powerful ways we have to change our state at any given moment. In the course i will introduce you to eight different breath techniques to help you to breathe better. Commit to just 10mins a day and you’ll be amazed at the results you can achieve.
Everyone is welcome to join the course no matter your experience.

How will you learn?
Apart of our traditional class-based tuition, we also offer Virtual Learning courses.
On our Virtual (live stream via Zoom) lessons, we provide the same quality of tuition as in the classroom. You only need a laptop, PC or tablet with either built in (or external) camera and microphone. The virtual platform is very interactive with a sense of real classroom at the Academy. You will study from the comfort of your own home and communicate with your tutor and classmates via video chat (by using your phone or computer camera) and you will receive outstanding tuition, qualification, and certification.
We provide A-Z guidance starting from before and after the course. Your tutor will guide you through the online course to graduation which you will be welcome to attend. What a joy it would be to meet your tutor and classmates in real life!!
