This course is aimed at candidates that require the knowledge and practical skills to work around piling rigs, using ancillary equipment and placing positioning piling rigs to from piles. This course can be completed by both novice and experienced candidates. We also offer refresher tests.
Novice course- 5 days
Experienced worker tests- 1 day theory and practical assessment
Category N022 Piling Rig Attendant
It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
➢ Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a piling rig attendant
➢ Have a working knowledge of the piling rig to be attended
➢ Be able to locate and identify the major components of the piling rig and explain their
functions
➢ Be able to locate and identify ancillary equipment and explain their functions
➢ Assist in conducting pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
➢ Conduct safety checks of the work area and agree hand signals and verbal commands
➢ Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for piling rig attendant
➢ Assist in rigging-up and prepare ancillary equipment for piling operations
➢ Guide and position rig on to the piling position and start piling process.
➢ Environmental considerations
➢ Assist in de-rigging and end of shift and shut down procedures
➢ Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of assisting in the loading and unloading procedures for piling rig transportation
Assessment will be to NPORS standards consisting of a theory test and practical test.
NPORS Traditional card – With the traditional card there is no requirements to complete an NVQ, a five year card is issued and after five years reassessment is required.
NPORS CSCS – To ensure that the operator is able to receive the NPORS CSCS logo card, candidates must have completed the relevant health and safety test within the last 2 years of the test date. This will issue a trained operator card. To gain a competent operator card the candidate will be required to complete an NVQ in the specific item of plant.
