I am a Reiki Master and a Personal Development Coach. I work with healing energy and give therapy treatments to enhance well-being. I first trained in 2005 and this is when I started teaching reiki and giving healing sessions. I retrained in 2009 with Penelope Quest, who is an international author of several best-selling reiki books. She only taught a couple of reiki courses each year as she was so busy writing. I couldn't wait to enrol on her next course, where I learnt many of the traditional Japanese methods of reiki healing.  Previously, I was a business studies lecturer for 13 years and I was also a mentor for the Princes' Trust, helping others to develop their skills into having their own full-time business. Currently I coach my own students in the area of personal development such as goal setting, managing emotions and building confidence.  In my teaching I am always delighted to share my knowledge and experiences of reiki and personal development and my students come from all over the UK.  Richard Brookshaw is a highly skilled dental implant surgeon. He has placed more than 5000 implants and is one of only a handful of implant surgeons nationwide who can carry out implant surgery in patients with extreme bone loss, using specifically designed zygomatic implants. Richard is both nationally and internationally respected as a lecturer and mentor in Implant Dentistry, immediate same day implants and CT scanning & planning for implant surgery. He also lectures for Nobel Biocare nationally and internationally on a range of advanced implant techniques and is a regular lecturer and contributor to their World Tour. Richard exclusively practices all aspects of implant dentistry, including hard and soft tissue augmentation, sinus grafting and same day implants. He first qualified in 1996 from the University of Dundee. Then in 1999 he gained his Masters degree in Oral Surgery from the University of Sheffield and further extended his clinical qualification in 2001 by completing an 18 month Implant Training Programme. Hi I’m Kate, I set up Sew Creative in 2016, however a lot of my customers are often surprised to hear that I haven’t always loved sewing - in fact I even paid one of my friends to sew my Year 7 Textiles project for me, then ditched the subject as soon as I was allowed in the following year! I eventually learnt to sew when I made the decision to study Fashion Design in Manchester. After my degree I worked in the fashion industry in both London and New York, before heading back up North to train to be a Textiles teacher and settle in Altrincham. Whilst teaching, I started to advertise sewing classes - it was originally just a way to earn a little extra money. I started on a table in Hobbycraft with a couple of old machines and some bits and pieces from my personal fabric stash. I sat there for several weeks, with no customers or interest, and was about to give up when Sue (now a member of staff!), my first ever customer, approached me asking if I’d teach her how to make her own patterns - and Sew Creative was born! Alex MANAGER Alex joined the Sew Creative team having left teaching in February 2020, just two weeks before the first National Lockdown! When she was a teacher, she taught social science, so sewing was a bit of a change! Alex sews most of her own clothes and can usually be found wearing at least one me-made item in store during the week. Alex teaches our adult classes as well as our teenagers. She is also the shop’s manager, so if you need anything, she is always happy to help! I'm almost 6ft tall so finding ready to wear trousers and dresses the right length has always been a challenge.Now I just make them to fit my body rather than the other way around!" Dawn TUTOR Dawn has been with us at Sew Creative for two years now and has become the heart and soul of the shop. Dawn is our resident neat-freak so she keeps us all nice and ship-shape. Dawn has been sewing for years and regularly makes herself gorgeous dresses and coats. Dawn can be found teaching our adults on a Tuesday and our Saturday classes. She is warm of heart and always up for a good natter! Jayne TUTOR Jayne joined Sew Creative in September 2020, in the midst of a Global Pandemic has has taken the rollercoaster ride like a true pro. Jayne’s career has been in lingerie design and she has worked with some of the biggest names in the biz! Jayne sews her won clothes, and loves making tailored trousers, she is always the picture of sophistication! Jayne works most weekdays and every other Saturday, teaching our kids and adult classes. She also teaches our Monday night adult lesson! George CHIEF EXECUTIVE George is the newest and most adorable member of the Sew Creative team. He’s not old enough to sew yet, but can often be found in the shop sporting a mum-made outfit. You’ll also find his full modelling portfolio on Instagram, where you are guaranteed a regular dose of cuteness. He keeps Eric and Dotty very busy and despite being so small, is always the centre of attention! We’re all convinced he’ll be the next Patrick Grant! Eric HEAD OF SECURITY Hi, I’m Eric. I can often be found guarding the front door at Sew Creative. While I might look big, tough and scary, I am actually quite a lovely chap. About this Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) Hydrogen will play an increasingly critical role in the future of energy system as it moves forward to supplement and potentially replace fossil fuels in the long run. Offshore wind offers a clean and sustainable renewable resource for green hydrogen production. However, it can also be volatile and presents inherent risks that need to be managed. Even though offshore production of hydrogen has yet to achieve a high state of maturity, many current projects are already dealing with the conditions and effects of offshore production of hydrogen and are grappling with the technological requirements and necessary gas transportation with grid integration. This 2 half-day Virtual Instructor Lead Training (VILT) course will examine the technological options for on-site production of hydrogen by electrolysis (onshore or offshore directly at the platform) as well as the transport of hydrogen (pipeline or ship). This VILT course will also explore the economic considerations and the outlook on future market opportunities. There will be exercises for the participants to work on over the two half-days. This course is delivered in partnership with Fraunhofer IEE. Training Objectives By the end of this VILT course, participants will be able to: Understand the technological attributes and options for green hydrogen production based on electricity from offshore wind. Explore the associated economic analysis for offshore wind hydrogen production, including CAPEX, OPEX, LCOE and LCOH Identify the critical infrastructure and technical configuration required for offshore green hydrogen including transportation networks and grid connectivity Learn from recent findings from current Research & Development projects concerning the differences between onshore and offshore hydrogen production. Target Audience This VILT course is intended: Renewable energy developers and operators Offshore oil & gas operators Energy transport and marine operators Energy policy makers and regulators IPPs and power utilities Training Methods The VILT course will be delivered online in 2 half-day sessions comprising 4 hours per day, including time for lectures, discussion, quizzes and short classroom exercises. Trainer Trainer 1: Your expert course leader is Director of Energy Process Technology Division at the Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Economics and Energy System Technology, IEE. The research activities of the division link the areas of energy conversion processes and control engineering. The application fields covered are renewable energy technologies, energy storage systems and power to gas with a strong focus on green hydrogen. From 2006 - 2007, he worked as a research analyst of the German Advisory Council on Global Change, WBGU, Berlin. He has extensive training experience from Bachelor and Master courses at different universities as well as in the context of international training activities - recently on hydrogen and PtX for partners in the MENA region and South America. He holds a University degree (Diploma) in Physics, University of Karlsruhe (KIT). Trainer 2: Your expert course leader is Deputy Head of Energy Storage Department at Fraunhofer IEE. Prior to this, he was the director of the Grid Integration Department at SMA Solar Technology AG, one of the world's largest manufacturers of PV power converters. Before joining SMA, he was manager of the Front Office System Planning at Amprion GmbH (formerly RWE TSO), one of the four German transmission system operators. He holds a Degree of Electrical Engineering from the University of Kassel, Germany. In 2003, he finished his Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) on the topic of wind power forecasting at the Institute of Solar Energy Supply Technology (now known as Fraunhofer IEE) in Kassel. In 2004, he started his career at RWE TSO with a main focus on wind power integration and congestion management. He is Chairman of the IEC SC 8A 'Grid Integration of Large-capacity Renewable Energy (RE) Generation' and has published several papers about grid integration of renewable energy source and forecasting systems on books, magazines, international conferences and workshops. Trainer 3: Your expert course leader is Deputy Director of the Energy Process Technology division and Head of the Renewable Gases and Bio Energy Department at Fraunhofer IEE. His work is mainly focused on the integration of renewable gases and bioenergy systems into the energy supply structures. He has been working in this field since more than 20 years. He is a university lecturer in national and international master courses. He is member of the scientific advisory council of the European Biogas Association, member of the steering committee of the Association for Technology and Structures in Agriculture, member of the International Advisory Committee (ISAC) of the European Biomass Conference and member of the scientific committees of national bioenergy conferences. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Darmstadt, Germany. He received his Doctoral degree on the topic of aerothermodynamics of gas turbine combustion chambers. Her focus is on the calculation of electricity, hydrogen and derivative production costs (LCOE, LCOH, LCOA, etc) based on various methods of dynamic investment costing. She also supervises the development of models that simulate different PtX plant configurations to analyze the influence of different parameters on the cost of the final product, and to find the configuration that gives the lowest production cost. She received her Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering at the HAWK in Göttingen and her Master's degree in renewable energy and energy efficiency at the University of Kassel. The 5 half-day VILT course gives a comprehensive account of the methodology, processes and techniques utilised in developing an offshore oil or gas discovery. Technically, integration of expected reservoir behavior, well planning and design, and facilities concepts and selection are exemplified through detailed case histories, group discussions and exercises. Commercial aspects related to overall project evaluation are also covered. Training Objectives Course participants will obtain a comprehensive understanding of key aspects of offshore field development, from appraisal through to development planning and leading up to sanction. The VILT course covers the three key elements: reservoirs, wells and facilities, and covers the integration of these with commercial aspects, and the required management aspects, including uncertainty and risk. Target Audience This VILT course is designed for project managers, field development and planning engineers, asset managers, petroleum engineers, reservoir engineers as well as field geoscientists and managers who have an interest in or are involved in field development feasibility and planning. Prior to his academic career (2001-2006), commencing in 2001 as head of the new School of Petroleum Engineering and Management at the UA, he worked for 16 years for BHP Petroleum (now BHP Billiton), most recently as Chief Reservoir Engineer for their worldwide operations. Other positions with BHP Billiton involved mainly technical and project management, and general management positions, including member of the BHP Board. He was project manager (feasibility) for two FPSO projects, the Skua and Griffin area fields, offshore Australia. He was also the Technical Manager for the Dai Hung project, offshore Vietnam where first oil was achieved in just 18 months from sanction. Before that time, he worked for Shell International (8 years) in the Netherlands, including two years as Senior Lecturer Reservoir Engineering at Shell's training centre and in Australia, seconded to Woodside Energy, with a key role in Australia's largest capital project (at the time), the Northwest Shelf Gas development. He started his career in Calgary, Canada, first with Hudson's Bay Oil and Gas and subsequently with the US consulting company, Scientific Software Corporation. He holds a BSc degree in Physics from the University of British Columbia and a MS degree in Nuclear Engineering from Stanford University. He has been an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, including Director for the Asia-Pacific region (1996-98) and as a member of the Board. He was an SPE Distinguished Lecturer during 2001-02 and a PESA Distinguished Lecturer during 2002. He has lectured at many institutions and was a visiting professor at Stanford University in 2000. He has published over 50 papers on both technical and managerial topics. His professional interests are in optimal planning and project management of offshore petroleum discoveries. His primary research interests are in the area of special core analysis and the development of predictive models for reservoir characterisation. This 3 half-day VILT course will provide a complete overview of integrating electric vehicles (EVs) into the power grid. It will cover the whole value chain from grid operations to the car battery. This includes the control room, possible grid reinforcement, demand side management and power electronics. This course will demonstrate the impact on the grid and solutions for a safe & cost-effective grid plan and operation, with examples of successful integration of EVs. The course will also provide vital knowledge about technology used for EVs such as power electronics, demand side management, communication and batteries. In this context, the focus will be on power electronics as it has the highest impact on the grid. The grid planning tool, pandapower, is introduced as an open source tool for power system modelling. The set-up of the training course allows for discussion and questions. Questions can be formulated by the participants upfront or during the training. Trainer Our first course expert is Head of Department Converters and Electrical Drive Systems at Fraunhofer IEE and Professor for Electromobility and Electrical Infrastructure at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. He received his engineering degree in automation in 2008 by the THM Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (FH Giessen-Friedberg). Afterwards he studied power engineering at University of Kassel and received his diploma certificate in 2010. In 2016 he received the Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) from the University of Hannover. The title of his dissertation is Optimized multifunctional bi-directional charger for electric vehicles. He has been a researcher at the Fraunhofer IEE in Kassel since 2010 and deals with power converters for electric vehicles, photovoltaics and wind energy. His current research interests include the bidirectional inductive power transfer, battery charger and inverter as well as new power electronic components such as SiC MOSFETs and chokes. Additionally, our key expert is Chairman of the IEEE Joint IAS/PELS/IES German Chapter and a member of the International Scientific Committee of the EPE Association.
