This is a practical workshop to help you understand more about how anxiety, perfectionism and procrastination can get in the way of getting stuff done. Whether you are a starter or into your final year after, It is timed to help you prepare for your first written assignment and set you up for the year ahead, without all the angst that can really hold you back from enjoying your college studies and life. You may feel that no one else struggles as much as you do over getting work submitted. By sharing ideas and tips together in small groups of 2 or 3, you may be surprised by how much you have in common with your fellow students and how much you can learn from each other.

Date: Monday 30th October Time: 4pm Location: Studio A Director Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, Milk, Finding Forrester) creates a tender, meditative portrait of young gay men living off-grid in the early 1990s in My Own Private Idaho. Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix play best friends Scott and Mike, who turn tricks and hustle through difficulties living on the streets. This is the question faced by Joel and Clementine, following their relationship and breakup, as they navigate their past together and whether they want to hold onto their memories of each other, from once happy times that have now turned painful. Don't miss the best film ever made about longing for someone you can no longer be with.

Told with deep warm compassion and two wonderful performances from Judi Dench and Steve Coogan, this film will leave you feeling warm and hopeful for humanity once more.

Date: Monday 11th December Time: 4pm Location: Studio A One of the most important British films of all time, Powell & Pressburger's Black Narcissus will be screened in advance of our December Professional Perspectives guest, Craig McCall, who will join us to speak about the career of Jack Cardiff, one of British cinema's most acclaimed cinematographers ever. Set in a mysterious monastery high in the Himalayas, the film focuses on the mental unravelling of a group of nuns trying to establish a school there, whilst erotic paintings on the ancient palace walls taunt their deepest, darkest desires. Come see the film that won Jack Cardiff the Oscar for Best Cinematography, and that lives on today as a prime example of psychological drama.

DATE: 20th March TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A Central Film School are delighted to invite Alexis Watkins to speak to our student body about the importance of mental wellbeing and the keys to mental safeguarding for both yourself and other students. Alexis has professional experience in the following roles: - Mental Health Practitioner & Data Analyst for BWW Mind - Chair of Central & North West London (CNWL) NHS Mental Health Ambassador Group - Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees for the WïSH Centre - National Lived Experience Partner for NHS England She has filmed with the CNWL and was recently part of a team nominated at the Health Service Journal awards for Reducing Healthcare Inequalities for Children and Young People award. She has also been a guest-speaker at The Listening Place, a charity focused on helping those with suicidal thoughts. She will be joining us to specifically discuss topics of isolation, substance abuse and suicidal ideation. Even if you are fortunate enough not to be struggling with your mental health currently, it is always worth being aware of the signs and knowing how to help others, so please consider coming along to this event if you feel comfortable doing so.

DATE: 12th February TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A The original Marriage Story, this 1970s classic tells the story of a couple's divorce, the impact it has on their son and their personal lives, and how they need to cope as parents, working with the person they've fallen out of love with. Featuring two towering performances from Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep, this courtroom drama has lost none of its power and nuance, and remains one of the best examinations of the breakdown of a relationship ever put to film. When it was released in 1979, it was one of the first time a film confronted issues such as work-life balance, father's rights and expected gender roles. Told with heart as well as humour, this film will stay with you for a long time after the credits roll.
