Medical Tourism

5.0(10)

By GBA Corporate

Overview Many hospitals and clinics will use a smile, “customer service” and good intentions to hide the fact they have poor or no training in service and professional staff about the different care that medical tourists or expat local patients need. At the heart of appropriate care for medical travellers is a need for institutional awareness of the unique differences between local patients and medical tourists. Having a better understanding of what medical tourists, their care managers and home-based doctors expect from the receiving hospital or clinic at the medical destination will lead to a better quality of patient care for medical travellers.

Sterile services Course

3.5(2)

By Elearncollege

Description Sterile Services Technician Diploma Sterile services technicians provide equipment and materials required by hospitals to carry out their various duties. These technicians collect reusable instruments from operating theatres, wards and clinics, disinfect them and make sure that they are clean and working properly. The sterilised instruments are then delivered to the hospital by trolley. The work of sterile service technicians begins by assembling instruments and supplying items like dressings, syringes and needles and arranging them in trays or packs according to standard procedures. The packs or trays are sealed, labelled and sterilised in steam. Large items of medical equipment are disinfected with the help of specialised equipment. Sterile services Technicians generally work as a team and are considered to be an integral part of the healthcare team. They report to the manager of the sterile services department (also referred to as decontamination service) and their services are available 37 hours a week. In larger departments, staff may provide their services 24/7, in which case staff may be employed in shifts. Sterile services departments can be found within hospitals or separately, and they could be run by commercial providers or hospital management. A sterile services technician can, with experience, climb to the position of assistant manager and then on to service management. Sterile services technicians can be found mostly at National Health Service (NHS) hospitals around the UK, but they are also found at private hospitals, health centres and dental practices. The Compassionate Mind Foundation

the compassionate mind foundation

5.0(6)

Derby

For thousands of years, compassion has been seen as the antidote to suffering and harmfulness. Research has now revealed how our capacities for compassion evolved, how it works in our bodies and our brains, and when cultivated, is a source of courage and wisdom to address suffering. The definition of compassion used by the Compassionate Mind Foundation is "...a sensitivity to suffering in self and others with a commitment to try to alleviate and prevent it." Compassionate courage lies in the willingness to see into the nature and causes of suffering - in ourselves, others and the human condition. The Compassionate Mind Foundation was founded as an international charity in 2006 by Professor Paul Gilbert and colleagues including Prof Deborah Lee, Dr Mary Welford, Dr Chris Irons, Dr Ken Goss, Dr Ian Lowens, Dr Chris Gillespie, Diane Woollands and Jean Gilbert. We believe that one of the greatest challenges facing humanity is how to stimulate compassionate ways of thinking and problem solving for the benefit of all. The Compassionate Mind Foundation promotes an evolutionary and bio-psycho-social informed approach to compassion which now forms the basis of a psychotherapy (CFT) and Compassionate Mind Training. The last 15 years have seen an expanding evidence base for a compassion focused approach to the alleviation of mental health difficulties and promoting wellbeing. It is now being used internationally in various settings including hospitals, prisons, schools and businesses. ‍
