The sessions are carried out either within our studios in Truro, Cornwall or remotely using ZOOM. They are designed around you the learner and your own specific wants and needs. Our tutor is an expert in the fields of acoustics, recording, traditional and electronic music composition, music production, sequencing, sound design, mixing and mastering, film, TV and game audio. Who is this course for?  Candidates who are interested in a more one to one based learning program remotely or within a professional industry standard environment, tuition is flexible regarding days, hours and regularity. Most importantly the tutor can design a program that it suited to you and your requirements, a meeting with the tutor can be arranged beforehand to discuss a learning plan for you. Flexible 1 to 1 tutoring is a great way to learn at your own pace with no pressures and with the support of an industry expert. What will I learn?  This is a very open ended question for these types of sessions, its about what you want to learn and our tutor will talk with you to figure out the a suitable program for your needs. The aim of these courses is to build a basic to advanced knowledge and understanding in various specialist areas of the industry, each tailor made course will support your learning through progress tracking and access to some amazing learning resources provided by our tutor. Each session will focus and build upon the last so that you are eventually able to meet your desired end goal. What equipment do I use on the course? The Black & Gold Studio is equipped with a huge range of both industry standard recording equipment, hardware synthesizers, drum machines, fx processing and control surfaces, and that’s before we even get inside the computer!! You can be taught to use DAW’s such as Logic Pro X, Cubase, Pro Tools & Ableton Live as well as explore other 3rd party softwares such as NI Komplete, Izotope, Fabfilter, Waves and so many more.

In our Broadcast Media Training Courses, we will teach you the best ways to share your story, how to answer those difficult questions and present yourself with confidence and style. Our broadcast media and media interview training courses include: Exploiting the opportunity The world of digital media means there are lots of opportunities to appear online, on radio or on TV, as an expert or commentator and gain invaluable exposure for your business and organisation. You may meet journalists at industry events or be contacted for a comment on an issue. You may also need media training because you have to protect your business’ reputation by reacting proactively if you become involved in a news story. Media training will help you handle interviews with journalists, content creators and other media professionals. You need to communicate positively and effectively and make sure your message reaches the audience. It means speaking consistently, and with style and confidence. You’ll also need to know how to handle challenging questions and make sure you positively manage your reputation. Contemporary Media Training Our media training is interactive, engaging and importantly, carried out by experienced journalist trainers. Our team has worked at the highest levels of journalism and broadcasting and will give you an invaluable insight into how to maximise the opportunity of a media appearance. We will take you through the background of what journalists want and need, and give you a clear understanding of how to prepare and deliver your messages and ideas. We will then carry out a number of media style interviews which our technical team will record and playback so you can see and hear yourself. We will then support you with practical, inclusive and useful feedback for you to put into practice for the next interview. We provide copies of all your recordings and useful notes after the training. Locations that suit you We deliver training at our facilities in Birmingham or London or at your location, bringing our technical equipment and cameras with us. You can have a half day training session for up to 4 people or a full day training for a larger group. We also deliver training online for small groups which can be useful when teams are spread around the country. Our intensive singing courses are greatly enjoyed by adults who are eager to boost their vocal abilities within a short period. You can either attend to work on a specific aspect of your voice or your overall vocal technique. Expect tremendous progress in a few days of focused studies.

Have a great time in the warmest and most welcoming space to try things out: Refresh an audition monologue from your repertoire Try something new with a speech Read a monologue for the first time Perhaps you just want to see how others approach a text. Or maybe you have a casting coming up… Participants may present a piece to the group, we then help to enhance the piece using the collective experience in the room, led by actor and acting coach Warren Rusher. We usually get through 6 or 7 pieces per month. Help each other to grow… you might have the perfect exercise or insight to help unlock a deeper understanding of character and text. There is no pressure to perform, you can just soak up the atmosphere and be part of the experience. Open to performers of all experience levels. *Bring a copy of any monologue you wish to present/work on. **If you are unable to attend please release your space - numbers are limited.
