Brainfools

brainfools

London

Brainfools does what it says on the tin. Gravity-defying. Exhilarating. With a sprinkle of comedy (of course). We’re a group of incredibly talented performers passionately strutting our stuff — on the ground, mid-air, and oh, tugging at heartstrings with delightful spectacles of ‘brain foolery.’ There’s a whimsical bubble about us that just might get you in a spin! A brainchild of Finn and Toffy, we’re a contemporary, socio-aware group of performers/producers who fuse circus arts with collaborative imagination (Toffy and Finn’s peerless chemistry) to create versatile, fully immersive, and visually enriching performance arts experiences for the world’s audiences. We entangle our audiences, up-close and personal, drawing them into a world where they live only for the present glorious moments. We live in complex times, an era in history poised to stretch the thirst for unflinchingly humanity-driven art to its full elastic limits. In our bold bid to provide answers, one common thread you’re odds-on to spot throughout our circus art performances is that human connectedness — or rootedness (if you will) — within communities that we celebrate. The sheer vitality we inspire and the spellbinding fabric of fragility we weave our audience into — all by the intricately knitted universe of the circus. Without question, the circus, for us, is never just about a ‘13-meter-diameter’ or ‘42-foot ring’ mastery. That would be just scratching the surface. At its heart, the circus has always incorporated a fusion of skill and soul—clusters upon clusters of exceptional human skills and artful mobility to tickle the human fancy. What sets us apart, though, is how we bring these human elements together. The spatial (on stage) and social (offstage) recognition we take to new heights to gratify, entertain, and inspire collective progress as humans. Ultimately, we’re becoming part of a more robust movement with the loftiest calling in the circus performance arts, and indeed, any other art form worth its earthly significance — to redefine the boundaries of what reflects the deepest needs of the modern-day, contemporary audience.

The Movement Revolution by Cheshire Pilates

Hi, I am so happy you can join me. I am looking forward to getting to know you and helping you on your journey to a healthier life. Together we can make a difference to the quality of your life through fun classes, the support of a like-minded community of people who ‘have your back’, along with challenges to encourage and keep you motivated. My name is Suzanne Rogers, and despite being a middle-aged woman (how did that happen?!), I am still deeply passionate about living and enjoying life to the full. For those who don’t yet know me, I love keeping active; if I am not dancing, or teaching Pilates, you will find me upside down in the gym. Upside down you may wonder. Well apart from the obvious anti-gravity effects I am hoping this will have on my face, my latest challenge is improving my handstand. You see, I am a great believer in embracing our inner child; it is still there deep within each of us, and we should allow that version of us a little more time to be free, to play, to wonder, and to try new things without allowing the perceived boundaries of our age to limit us. My suggestion to everyone would be to play more, laugh more, move more, and live your life the way you would like to, not to limit yourself based purely on your age. Discover that childlike version of yourself, believe that you are never too old to try new things, to learn new skills, and stick out your tongue to anyone who tries to tell you otherwise!! Movement is the elixir of life, and I am passionate about sharing my joy of movement with you. Our bodies are designed to be moved, and if we are sedentary, they will ultimately let us down. Just like a car that is unused and un-cared for, it will become rusty, and prone to breaking down. Sadly, we are often more willing to care for the things that we own like our homes, or our cars whereas in reality, our bodies are our lifelong homes and our means of transport: they deserve to be cared for, nourished, and loved so that we can enjoy freedom of movement throughout our lives. Use it or lose it!

Kemble Training

Flying Training All flying undertaken by Instructors at Kemble Flying Club is categorised as training, whether it is a taster lesson or Trial Flight, a normal flying lesson, or one of our other experiences like ‘Pilot for a Day’. Whatever type of experience you decide to take with us there is a good deal of useful information for first time ‘pilots’ on the Trial Flight page. If this is appropriate for you please have a look here as I would like to think most of your questions will be answered. All flying training referred to can be taken in fixedwing or the flexwing aircraft. (See: Our Aircraft) Introduction Flying training is one of the most important aspects of what we do here at Kemble Flying Club. Whether you come to see us for a one off experience, for a series of training flights, or to complete a pilot’s licence we can, without hesitation, say this will be a rewarding, sometimes challenging, and, even a life changing experience! Of course some people come to us for conversion training, refresher training (we could call that advanced training) and for flying instructor courses. There is a magic about flying small aircraft, a thrill, it’s like we have cheated gravity to play in the sky. We have read and seen pictures of the pioneers of flight and the first powered flights were only a little over 100 years ago! We are constantly exhilarated by the flying experience, the feelings of buoyancy of the air, the spectacle of different cloud shapes and patterns and colours as the light dances around us. And, the views of the landscape, the masses of open spaces, woodlands, hills and rivers. From Kemble we only have to be upwards of 1,000ft above ground and we can see to the Welsh mountains to the west, the Malverns, and the Cotswold plateau stretching away to the north. We can see as far as Didcott Power Station to the east and Salisbury Plain to the south. You don’t actually have to take a ride into Space to see the World is a small place! Importantly training should be fun! You will learn so much more if you are enjoying it. At the same time Safety is our utmost priority and when you are on your way to becoming a fully fledged pilot then it will take some commitment and discipline.

I began my running coaching journey in 1976 when I ran in my green flash:) but kept on coaching, attending courses and qualifications/badges throughout my life. I also hold a post-grad degree in Physical Ed, with my first degree in Theoretical physics and Astrophysics. I have practised yoga for 25 years (recently qualified to teach in 2018). I also work in Adult Education as an associate lecturer with the Open University. After 12 years as a coach I decided to further integrate and develop my own running programmes and coaching with a much stronger focus on yoga knowledge and practice (attending professional development workshops from Leslie Kaminoff (https://www.yogaanatomy.org/) and Gary Carter (https://www.naturalbodies.co.uk/), A.G Mohan ( https://www.svastha.net/) ). We are all different, creating personalised programmes that allow runners to feel more relaxed, have a greater understanding of how they move and how they can improve their running form without an increase of injury. I have coached over 2000 runners, with a very mixed profile. From National runners to starting out and broken 'lost mojo' runners, all ages from 12-80! Running with awareness, running with ease, running with relaxation and stillness will set the conditions to allow you to run quicker, pain free and have a deeper sense of 'in the moment' focus when running or walking. I focus on developing a more mindful and holistic approach to movement (using much yoga training), allowing runners to recognise 'if it is somewhere it is everywhere' and 'don't think it, feel it'. We explore 'changing our relationship with gravity' allowing us to feel more relaxed and encourage a lighter and better feeling with the ground. For the BODY, for the MIND, for the BREATH The yoga practice complements and integrates into the running coaching, I don't teach a 'little bit of running' and a 'little bit of yoga'. They two disciplines connect and I hope folk get a sense of the power of combining the two practices. I have helped many people, from beginners to cross country runners to triathletes. Whether you are just beginning a running program or training for a marathon, race, triathlon, or general all-round fitness the soulinmotion running and yoga approach is one that builds a healthy body, instead of breaking it down from misuse or overuse. The background of runners vary from15min 5K female runners, 1h 3min half marathon runners to clients who could barely run/walk. Ages have varied between 12 to 85. I have coached yogi's, cross fit, martial arts, ultra runners, Ironmen and women, clubs, private groups.....jog scotland groups appear a lot as do some sport England. My own science, maths and sports background (BSc(Hons) Physics and Astrophysics, PGCE in Sport and Mathematics together with years of coaching means I always approach any idea with a critical and clinical eye. Find out more? Keep up to date with SoulinMotion via the Newsletter, subscribe here....or link to the Eventbrite site and follow my workshops/classes OR visit the soulinmotion FB page (https://www.facebook.com/soulsinmotion) and the list of events which gives all the free tasters and workshops in Scotland and the NE.

Bute Tai Chi

bute tai chi

Isle Of Bute

Testimonial "Personal online Tai Chi lessons with Alex Swainson are improving my mobility, my posture and my thinking.  I've been having the lessons each week for nearly a year.  In spite of me having learnt Tai Chi about 20 years ago, Alex has reintroduced me to the underlying principles and practice.  He is a thoughtful teacher, sharing the knowledge from his personal research into the movement and balance of the human body and mind.  He puts a strong emphasis on using the natural force of gravity to move in the easiest, most effective and most powerful way. I find it combats the mobility problems associated with ageing.  His teaching is supportive and informative, feeding back on the way I move as I go through the Tai Chi form, picking up on the problems that he sees and working on how to overcome them. He is a mine of information on the way the human body works in terms of its posture, spine positions and movements, the movement of joints and the working of the nervous system.   Through the 1 to 1 online relationship, Alex demonstrates the application of the principles he has learnt and developed, both in demonstrating the Tai Chi form but also in the movements that are necessary not just for good Tai Chi, but for use and application in our everyday lives.   Alex makes a recording of each lesson which he sends to me to help with my practice during the time between lessons.   Learning online can sometimes be more difficult in explaining movements or postures compared to face to face learning, where the teacher can make physical interventions to show what's needed.  However, the recordings are invaluable for seeing things again, watching myself in action, picking up things that Alex has said that I'd missed the significance of in the session itself.   Watching myself performing the Tai Chi form is often a revelation of the difference between what I think I'm doing and what I'm actually doing! I am getting a great deal out of the learning sessions.  I have met a number of Tai Chi teachers and in my experience Alex is as principled, thoughtful and capable as a teacher as any that I have met.  And I have worked with some good ones.  The lessons are challenging, no doubt about it.  But Alex takes care to work at my pace and is very clear that the learning I do for myself is the key to the development of my understanding and the improvement of my practice.  Being able to move well in older age is a thing to treasure and nurture and in this Alex is helping me enjoy my later life." Offer Description Learn Tai Chi at your own pace with expert guidance. Alex is a highly experienced teacher with deep knowledge of the art, making him ideally suited to one-to-one teaching. Standing 60-minute slots are available on TUESDAYS ONLY. Sessions can be purchased in blocks of 3 or 6 months, which includes video recordings of each session as an essential reference for practice.  N.B. This offer is for people who want to seriously invest in their own self-healing. If you are ready to commit to an authentic practice rooted in an understanding of how to harness the forces of nature for health, wellbeing & personal development, then I'm here for you. THE OFFER COMES WITH A 30-DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE.

Creeksea Place

creeksea place

Essex

Creeksae Place Manor House Wedding Venue in Burnham, Essex has a rich history and meticulously kept gardens. The ideal venue for your weeding or event. Arthur Harris built Creeksea Place during the reign of Elizabeth 1st in 1569. It remained in his family for five generations after which it passed to the Mildmay family when Arthur’s great grand-daughter married Lord Mildmay. The current owners are the Bertorelli family and they too, coincidentally, have had five generations of ownership of this lovely historic Manor House during the reign of another Queen Elizabeth. In the intervening four and a half centuries much has occurred including many changes of ownership and usage. Now it is the determined wish of the current owners to continue the task of restoring this picturesque House to the glory it once was and to open the house and grounds up to the public at large. Once government restrictions allow, we will be hosting a myriad of varying and exciting public events. Arthur Harrys, as he was known in 1569, came from Prittlewell near Southend and was an important figure in those times. He had pledged to his Sovereign, Queen Elizabeth, to raise a hundred men who would defend the monarchy if civil unrest ever occurred. His family flourished and has continued to do so today. There are literally thousands of Harris descendants around the world, particularly in the United States. Lord Mildmay who married his great grand-daughter, was also a man of importance. Charles I appointed him as ‘Keeper of the Crown Jewels’, a post equivalent to Chancellor of the Exchequer today. Lord Mildmay owned many other properties in England at this time and was a man of influence and power. So much so that he was one of the twelve men who signed the death warrant of his King. Upon the restoration of the monarchy in 1660 with Charles II, Lord Mildmay was also sentenced to death for regicide – the killing of the Monarch. He was fortunate though. Due, no doubt to his power and connections, his sentence was commuted but his power had waned. The next significant Creeksea moment occurred in the late 17th century. Due to the imposition of the Window Tax – tax on large houses with many windows; the North Wing was demolished. This was a wing that extended into what is now the car park. The footings of this part of the House was actually traced-out by an American Harris descendent in the last few years. There is also a story that the bricks from the North Wing were taken by barge to London where a street called Creeksea Lane was built. In a House with so much history, myths and legends remain abound. There are tales about secret tunnels from the House to the nearby River Crouch used for smuggling. However, what is true is the fact that there are no cellars in Creeksea Place, due no doubt to the relatively high water table. This would certainly prove a problem for tunnelers. Nevertheless, there is the remains of a gravity-fed fountain pipe that runs from the House to one of the lakes on the Estate and also evidence of two ten foot deep ice houses that would have been used for the preservation of vegetables and grain. There are many ghosts! The most prominent of which involves the marriage between Lord Mildmay and the great grand-daughter of Arthur Harris, who was not entirely happy with the union, and so the tragic bride is said to have committed suicide. Her ghost, known as ‘The Lady of the Lake’ has apparently been seen meandering her way across the Lawn, down to the lakes.

Fundamentals of Seismic for Non-Geophysicists

By EnergyEdge - Training for a Sustainable Energy Future

About this Training Course There are various kinds of geophysical data available. They are separated into seismic and non-seismic (multi-physics) data. Non-seismic or multi-physics data (which includes gravity, magnetics, electrical, electromagnetics, spectral etc - apart from providing complimentary information to seismic) is the main source of information for very shallow subsurface applications such as engineering, mapping pollution, archaeology, geothermal energy, and related areas. This 5 full-day blended course will focus specifically on seismic data which is the main method used in the Oil & Gas industry. In this blended course, participants will be equipped to understand that seismic data represents the movement of the surface, resulting from waves generated by a source, dynamite or vibrator which are reflected by changes in the subsurface rocks. The basic principles of acquisition and processing will be explained and insights into advanced methods, allowing a much more accurate interpretation of seismic data than previously considered possible, will also be provided. This blended course contains an introduction to Machine Learning and its important role in all aspects of seismic acquisition, processing, and interpretation. There is no need to know in detail how the algorithms work internally but it is necessary to know how to use them correctly to achieve optimum results. Training Objectives By attending this course, participants will be able to acquire the following: Obtain an understanding of the strengths and limitations of geophysical methods, specifically seismic, and the costs and risks involved, and how to reduce these. Be able to communicate more effectively with staff in other disciplines. Understand the potential applications of seismic data and know how to formulate the requirements needed for prospect and field evaluation. Gain an awareness of modern seismic technology. Apply the learning in a series of practical, illustrative exercises. Know what types of questions to ask to assess the necessary quality of a seismic project in its role in a sequence of E&P activities Target Audience The blended course is intended for non-geophysicists who have intensive interaction with geophysicists. But it may be of interest to those who want to know about the recent progress made in geophysics, leading to amazing imaging results, which could not be imagined a decade ago. The blended course will bring to the attention of the geologists, petrophysicists and reservoir/petroleum engineers an awareness of how the data they will work with is acquired and processed by the geophysicist. It will introduce the concepts that are of importance in geophysics and thus relevant for non-geophysicists to know and be able to communicate with geophysicists as well as formulate their requests. Course Level Intermediate Trainer Your expert course leader has degree in Geology (University of Leiden), a Master's degree in Theoretical Geophysics (University of Utrecht) and a PhD in Utrecht on 'Full wave theory and the structure of the lower mantle'. This involved forward modelling of P- and S-waves diffracted around the core-mantle boundary and comparison of the frequency-dependent attenuation of the signal with those obtained from major earthquakes observed at long offsets in the 'shadow zone' of the core. These observations were then translated into rock properties of the D' transition zone. After his PhD, he joined Shell Research in The Netherlands to develop methods to predict lithology and pore-fluid based on seismic, petrophysical and geological data. He subsequently worked for Shell in London to interpret seismic data from the Central North Sea Graben. As part of the Quantitative Interpretation assignment, he was also actively involved in managing, processing and interpreting Offshore Seismic Profiling experiments. After his return to The Netherlands, he headed a team for the development of 3D interpretation methods using multi-attribute statistical and pattern recognition analysis on workstations. After a period of Quality Assurance of 'Contractor' software for seismic processing, he became responsible for Geophysics in the Shell Learning Centre. During that period, he was also a part-time professor in Applied Geophysics at the University of Utrecht. From 2001 to 2005, he worked on the development of Potential Field Methods (Gravity, Magnetics) for detecting oil and gas. Finally, he became a champion on the use of EM methods and became involved in designing acquisition, processing and interpretation methods for Marine Controlled Source EM (CSEM) methods. After his retirement from Shell, he founded his own company, specialising in courses on acquisition, processing and interpretation of geophysical data (seismic, gravity, magnetic and electromagnetic data), providing courses to International and National energy companies. In the last couple of years, he became keenly interested in the use of Machine Learning in Geophysics. Apart from incorporating 'Artificial Intelligence' in his courses, he also developed a dedicated Machine Learning course for geophysics. POST TRAINING COACHING SUPPORT (OPTIONAL) To further optimise your learning experience from our courses, we also offer individualized 'One to One' coaching support for 2 hours post training. This Physics Foundation Diploma course is very beneficial for students studying in high schools, colleges and universities, having physics as a subject. This program will ensure that you know the basics before you go deep into the subject. Physics shares a fundamental understanding of how the world around us works, everything from the natural to the technological devices we depend on daily. It helps us contemplate profoundly and think critically to satisfy our curious minds. We, as humans, have the natural tendency to look through things. We never see things for what it is. We saw volcanos, rains, waves, or cyclones, we did not take them for what we just saw, but we looked into them. This curiosity is what makes us who we are. Being one of the fundamental branches of science, physics opens a door in front of us, a door to see the world for what it is. This physics foundation diploma course will open your eyes and, in turn, opportunities for you, irrespective of your field and academic background.
