Duration 2 Days Validity 3 years Course Overview The Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid is a nationally recognized qualification designed for individuals responsible for the care of infants and children, such as teachers, childcare providers, and nursery staff. This course equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to respond to a wide range of emergencies that may arise when caring for young children. In line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted requirements, this qualification ensures that participants can handle both minor and life-threatening situations involving infants and children. Upon successful completion, learners will have the confidence to act quickly and effectively in paediatric first aid emergencies. What’s Covered Roles and responsibilities of a Paediatric First Aider Assessing an emergency situation Infant and child CPR & AED usage Managing unconscious casualties (infants and children) Providing first aid for choking (infants and children) Treating wounds, bleeding, and shock Recognizing and responding to fractures, dislocations, and head injuries Addressing common childhood illnesses such as asthma and allergic reactions Administering first aid for burns, scalds, and poisoning Handling anaphylaxis and severe allergic reactions Recognizing and managing seizures Managing external and internal bleeding Understanding incident reporting and documentation requirements Entry Requirements Participants must be at least 16 years old on the first day of training.
