Qualification Information This qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of: The Resuscitation Council (UK) Skills for Health Assessment Principles for First Aid Qualifications Course Content Following this course students will: Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally. Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally. Know how to safely use an automated external defibrillator. Be able to safely use an automated external defibrillator. Who should attend? This qualification is for people who have a specific interest or responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, in being able to provide BLS when dealing with an emergency situation which may involve using an AED. Pre-requisites Students must be at least 16 years old on the first day of training. Assessment and Certifications Assessment for this course is continuous. Successful students will receive an Immerse Training Certificate, which is valid for one year. This certificate will be issued by Qualsafe, the awarding body for Immerse Training. Additional Information Completion of the Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator includes 1 credit at Level 2 of the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF). The Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an automated External Defibrillator is also recommended as an annual refresher for student who have successfully completed the QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (QCF). From 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work (previously appointed person) to 3 day First Aid at Work courses. We specialise in on-site courses at your workplace, tailored to the specific risks associated with your business. All courses can be delivered at our training centre in Poole, Dorset or we can deliver on-site across Bournemouth, Poole, Dorset, Hampshire and the South of England.

Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is choking. Be able to assess an emergency situation safely. Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding. Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally. Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is suffering from shock. Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with bites, stings and minor injuries. Who should attend? This qualification is for anyone who cares for children and babies; including parents, guardians, grandparents or people who have a professional involvement with children and babies. Pre-requisites Students must be at least 16 years old on the first day of training. The YMCA qualifications support every learner, whether they are taking their first steps into fitness or simply wish to boost their skills. Course Overview Through completion of this qualification, learners will develop an awareness of mental health and be able to signpost others to mainstream medical or alternative support organisations. The purpose of this qualification is to develop learners' understanding of mental health, mental ill health and the risks associated with mental health conditions. Learners will also learn about sources of support available to individuals with mental health conditions. Endorsed by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), this qualification can be used towards members' annual Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirements. Enables learners to understand: • Mental health, mental ill health and mental health conditions • Attitudes to mental health • The importance of physical activity and exercise for mental health. Provides learners with knowledge of: • Risks associated with mental health conditions • Mainstream and alternative methods of supporting individuals with mental health conditions. Structure and Assessment: To achieve the YMCA Level 2 Award in Mental Health Awareness and Understanding Approaches to Support Individuals (603/7146/8), learners must successfully complete one unit. Entry Requirments Learners should be aged 16 plus No formal prerequisites, however it is recommended that learners hold YMCA Awards Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing or equivalent. Progression Routes This qualification doesn't provide automatic progression onto another YMCA Awards qualification, however it may provide progression opportunities on to qualifications related to careers in mental health, health and social care, counselling or psychology. Learners taking this qualification may also consider further training at the same and higher levels in a range of qualifications.
