Paediatric first aid training: What will you learn? The course covers everything listed below. There will be practical demonstrations, role playing and several activities to keep things moving along. You’ll use the whole range of paediatric first equipment, and will try out your newly learned techniques on my adult, child and baby mannequins. I’m happy to tailor the content with additions. If you want me to focus on a specific area of paediatric first aid, that’s fine. Here’s what you’ll learn: Responsibilities and reporting requirements Assessing a medical situation How to perform CPR Resuscitation and using a defibrillator Treatment of an unconscious casualty, and the recovery position Choking Head injuries Seizures, including febrile convulsions Bleeding and shock Burns and scalds Fainting Anaphylaxis, and using an EpiPen Diabetes and asthma emergencies Foreign objects Eye injuries Sprains, strains and fractures Heat and cold Sickle cell anaemia and meningitis

EPFA and EFAW combined course

A Health & Safety Executive Approved course that complies with First Aid Regulations 1981. This is a refresher course for those that have previously attended and passed the First Aid At Work Course and now need to renew their certification. Who Should Attend? People that hold a valid First Aid At Work Certificate Course Content Health & Safety Using a First Aid Kit Incident Management Resuscitation / CPR - Adult, Child, Baby AED Familiarisation Recovery Position Choking - Adult, Child, Baby Burns & Scalds Poisoning including Anaphylaxis Epilepsy Shock Bleeding & Nose Bleeds Asthma Head Injuries Fractures, Sprains & Strains Many Other Specific Conditions Course Duration: Two Days Assessment / Certification Independent qualified assessors carry out the assessments. Each delegate that passes will receive a Certificate valid for Three years. Please note that training can take place upto 3 months in advance of the Certificate expiry date. The new Certificate will be dated from the expiry date of the old Certificate.

This Course is ideal for smaller work places for persons in a lower risk work environment. Who Should Attend? Any member of an organisation who would find themselves in charge, or who has been appointed to take charge of first aid during a first aid emergency in the absence of a qualified First Aider. Recent changes to Forestry Commission policy recommend those who work in the Forestry industry attend training which includes additional topics relevant to the risks and nature or their work. The Forestry Commission recommend topics including: Crush Injuries Catastrophic bleeding including chainsaw including chainsaw injuries and gun shot wounds Hypothermia / Exposure Suspension injuries Lyme's Disease Lightning & High Voltage injuries Casualty evacuation planning These are in addition to the normal Emergency First Aid criteria. Who Should Attend? This course is ideal for those who work or intend to work in a forestry, agricultural or remote environment, such as tree surgeons and farmers.
