Working alongside children, young people and families to develop anti-racist practice (Wales) Monday 10 March 2025, 10am-12.30pm Do you want to work alongside children, young people and families to develop anti-racist practice in your museum? About this event Since the introduction of the Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan in 2022, Welsh museums have started working collaboratively with community partners to address inequality within areas such as collections, displays and programming. This session is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of this work and explore how museums can specifically develop their anti-racist practice alongside children, young people and families. This training webinar will be led by Dr Marian Gwyn. She is an experienced heritage consultant and historian, who has many years’ experience of working with the museum sector on the contested past. Marian will be joined by Hannah Sweetapple, formerly of the Egypt Centre in Swansea, and young people from Amgueddfa Cymru. They will talk about their experiences of being involved in anti-racist work in museums. In this webinar, you will: hear an update about Anti-Racist Wales work in museums and heritage sites understand the importance of this work and how it fits into the Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan learn about ideas for taking this work forward in your own organisation gain inspiration from case studies to inform your work. A standalone 10 week/session course that will introduce you to the basic materials, tools, equipment and techniques used in paper crafting and mixed media work and to Craft4Smiles C.I.C and our tutors. You will be sent all the materials and equipment needed to complete the course. At the end of each lesson you will have a crafted item to take away to keep or show family and friends.
