Charlotte Llewellyn is a textile artist based in South East London and the founder of Stemwell Workshop. She specialises in natural dyeing and quilting. Charlotte aims to connect traditional process with contemporary craft, whilst focusing on sustainability and interaction with nature. All cloth has been reclaimed. All colour and print is derived from plants either locally grown, or ethically sourced. Taking inspiration from architecture, landscape and historical textiles, and by honouring the tradition of patchwork as storytelling, Charlotte endeavours to breathe new life into old cloth, hoping to continue the narrative. Her work ranges from small functional items for the home, to large scale wall pieces. She also teaches workshops in natural dyeing and printing techniques, patchwork and hand quilt

We are a Hackney-based community-interest company focusing on connecting people with the natural world in creative and collaborative ways. Through innovative teaching and experiential learning, Cordwainers Grow hopes to connect and inspire a network of social and environmental innovators. We evolved out of Cordwainers Garden, a community growing space on land belonging to the London College of Fashion in Mare Street. We wanted to make the link with what the staff and students were doing inside the college to the outside so, in 2011 started growing plants for dyeing and to make fibre. The garden closed in April 2019, but Cordwainers Grow continues and we champion sustainable community growing in the face of increased competition for space and inequality of access. Cordwainers Dye Studio Debbie Mitchener is the founder of the Cordwainers Dye Studio which specialises in consultancy and collabortion around the use and development of natural dyes. Working from a dedicated studio in East London the aim of the studio is support designers and emerging dye technicians to use sustainable dye practices. We are also the UK’s first for hire Natural Dye Studio offering 3 individual spaces to hire for sampling and smaller scale dyeing projects. As a social enterprise 10% of our profits are given to Cordwainers Grow who run food and growing classes in the communtiy with a focus on working with homeless families, migrants and refugees as well as local residents keen to learn more about sustainable living.
