This course focuses on effective negotiation techniques to be successful in different situations and with people holding different levels of power. An Exciting Practical Face-to-Face Course Learning Heat Press Textile Techniques 
Lead by NICKY SIMPSON, one of the leading textiles workshop trainers in the UK, this is a totally practical day, doing a large variety of Heat Press Techniques for Textiles. 

This course is aimed at anyone wanting to learn and try out a variety of techniques. Especially good for Textile and Art teachers who are either new to teaching GCSE/A Level Art & Design or those who want to add to their resources, by spending a whole day developing exciting new ideas and getting the most out of your heat press. The Heat Press Techniques face-to-face course is an experience that delivers textiles skills, knowledge and understanding. 

It is a great learning environment which allows you to gain new skills and techniques, showing how these can be incorporated in lesson plans and delivered in a fun, inspiring and engaging way. You can ask questions direct to the course developer/leader, practice skills, create a sketchbook resource for the classroom and network with other teachers.



Course Developer and Leader: NICKY SIMPSON
Your course leader is NICKY SIMPSON, a contemporary textiles artist, one of the leading textiles workshop leaders in the UK and who has 12 years teaching experience, heading up Fashion & Textiles at a school in Kent. She has taught Art & Design Textiles at GCSE and A Level, Design and Technology/Textiles at GCSE & A Level and BTEC Level 3 Fashion. 

Her last set of grades were: A Level 100% A-A*; GCSE 70% A-A* (100% A*-B). She had a previous 22-year career as a print designer and colourist, creating print ranges for the international market. For the past 8 years Nicky has been a workshop developer and leader for the online and F2F courses for Textile and Art teachers on behalf of the Textile Skills Centre, including pattern development. Nicky has mentored many graduate trainees, and now mentors many fellow teachers through the TSC mentorship programme.

This training can be used as a stand-alone programme or as the first part of a journey to learn suicide prevention skills.&nbsp;The one-day programme Suicide First Aid through Understanding Suicide Interventions is a City &amp; Guilds qualification programme and the next step for people wanting a more in-depth practise-based approach to the learning. The information is easy to grasp for people of all skill levels and those with no prior knowledge of the subject. It is designed to meet the needs of virtual groups and could be used as a forerunner to the one-day Suicide First Aid Programme.&nbsp;Evidence BaseTwo independent evaluations in 2016 and 2017 by Dr Paul Rogers demonstrated significant statistical change in 14 of 19 measures. Increased confidence and reduced anxiety in dealing with suicide, were among the leading outcomes.&nbsp;FormatTaught over 3.5 hours using tutor facilitated socratic learning, tutor-led practise sessions, mini lectures, group work and audio-visual presentations. This is a has some interactive elements and is an emotionally engaging learning experience.&nbsp;Pre-training requirementNo previous experience or training is necessary. Participants will be asked to self- reflect and empathise with a person having thoughts of suicide. The Suicide First Aid Lite course gives learners the knowledge and tools to understand that suicide is one of the most preventable deaths and some basic skills can help someone with thoughts of suicide stay safe from their thoughts and stay alive. 
Course Content
SFA Lite is comprised of 2 parts, each 90 minutes duration. The programme teaches the skills needed to identify someone who may be thinking about suicide and to pass the person onto a suicide first aider.

Suicide First Aid Lite training offers learning outcomes that are knowledge based and factual. This training can be used as a stand-alone programme or as the first part of a journey to learn suicide prevention skills. 
The one-day programme Suicide First Aid through Understanding Suicide Interventions is a City & Guilds qualification programme and the next step for people wanting a more in-depth practise-based approach to the learning. The information is easy to grasp for people of all skill levels and those with no prior knowledge of the subject. It is designed to meet the needs of virtual groups and could be used as a forerunner to the one-day Suicide First Aid Programme. 
Evidence Base
Two independent evaluations in 2016 and 2017 by Dr Paul Rogers demonstrated significant statistical change in 14 of 19 measures. Increased confidence and reduced anxiety in dealing with suicide, were among the leading outcomes. 
Format
Taught over 3.5 hours using tutor facilitated socratic learning, tutor-led practise sessions, mini lectures, group work and audio-visual presentations. This is a has some interactive elements and is an emotionally engaging learning experience. 
Pre-training requirement
No previous experience or training is necessary. Participants will be asked to self- reflect and empathise with a person having thoughts of suicide. There is no expectation on participants to share personal experiences.

This Silver Ring Workshop is designed for absolute beginners. It will be a great introduction to working with silver and will see you make your very own silver ring, using skills acquired during your day.
Your silver ring will be a choice of two silver bands, which you will have the opportunity to personalise by adding texture, if you wish. You will also be shown how to cut and attach a silver disc, which you may decide to keep flat or choose to dome (pictured). If you decide not to attach your disc, you are welcome to make it into a pendant or charm instead.
Your experienced tutor will guide you through the making process. During the workshop you will learn various techniques including how to; correctly measure your ring size, cut and shape your silver, add texture using stamps and hammering, solder, and more – all in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
This workshop will run from 10.00am until 4.00pm, with a pause for a ploughman-style lunch. Your lunch and all the materials to make your beautiful silver ring will be provided, as will a workshop apron for you to wear during your day.

Daisy Chandley joined PFD in 2019 after graduating from the University of Oxford with a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. LOOKING FOR: ADULT FICTION, SCIENCE FICTION / FANTASY

After several years spent within publishing houses Bookouture, Canelo, Avon, One More Chapter and Head of Zeus, Hannah Todd became a Literary Agent at the Madeleine Milburn Literary, TV & Film Agency, before joining Janklow & Nesbit in January 2025. Across the full light-dark spectrum Hannah especially loves SFF that features an unlikely band of heroes, like the Six of Crows series by Leigh Bardugo, Scott Lynch's Gentleman Bastard series, Becky Chambers' The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet, T. Kingfisher's Nettle and Bone,and  the cosy themes/settings offered by Heather Fawcett and TJ Klune.

Hannah's advice is make sure you have a clear USP and hook: If you are sending your reader to a magical academy, or if we're riding dragons or waving wands, that's great! But what makes your book feel different and fresh? An excellent voice is key, but what else makes your take on these tropes stand out? An example of a phenomenal book that has turned the magical academy trope on its head, with layers of excellent world building, a unique magic system and plot twists galore is The Will of the Many by James Islington. If you have something crafted this beautifully then Hannah wants to see it!

Romantasy of varying spice levels, accessible to both romance and fantasy readers, is on Hannah's wishlist. And you can whisk her away with contemporary romance novels, romcoms, sweeping love stories that redefine the genre. Romcoms with great disability rep and LGBTQIA+ stories that focus on the joy of falling in love are high on Hannah's agenda. She particularly loves Emily Henry, Laura Wood and Abby Jiminez. Think more Nicholas Sparks than Sally Rooney, and Bonnie Garmus rather than Gabrielle Zevin. In this space, she is a big fan of Emma Donoghue, Bonnie Garmus and Jojo Moyes.

What Can You Expect to Earn as a Dental Nurse? Compared to other caring professions, Dental Nursing is well paid and offers plenty of opportunity for continued training and development. This is great for those looking on a the long-term plan for their career and those who wish to work their way up the ladder through continued learning, experience & hard work. Trainee Dental Nurse salary for standard working week will be around £23,000 per annum. Average wage for a qualified Dental Nurses between £40,417 to £42,350 p.a.
When are the exams?
There are two exams:
1. Multiple choice theory exam. November and March.
2. Practical exam. January and June. 
Record of Experience (eROE)
To be eligible to sit your first exam, you have to complete your electronic Record of Experience (eROE). The eROE has to be submitted to your tutor by 31st Jan for March exam, and 31st August for November exam.

Study mode – virtual (via Zoom) live stream lessons combined with a quarterly meetings Saturday/Sunday at the Academy
Duration – 1 year (part time)
Virtual (via Zoom) classes – once a week
Quarterly meetings at the Academy – date are discussed with the group in advance

Registration fee – £300 (includes: administration, workshops, mock exams, RoE marking, internal moderation of RoE)
Tuition Fees – £1,400 (we offer payment plan, and accept instalments)
Exam fee – £510 will be charged at the point of candidate registration with NEBDN
One day introduction course – for those who are considering/not sure whether to step up into the Dental Industry £50.00
