During this day workshop you will be shown the techniques to create your very own bezel set ring. You will learn to set a cabochon stone (stones with a curved top and completely flat base). This is an excellent introduction to stone setting for those who have always wished to learn to set stones. For those with some experience, you can create a more detailed ring which explores textures and more advanced design techniques. WHEN: Saturday 26th October 10-5pm WHERE: Workshop 925 based at The Mayford Centre, just outside of Woking and very close to Guildford. We will have some stones available to choose at the workshop, however feel free to bring along any stones you may wish to set. Time and materials allow you to create one ring. Some stones might not be suitable due to size or shape, so please be aware if you do bring along your own stones, it might not be suitable for the setting technique but we will advise you on the day. Stones shouldn’t be smaller than 8-10mm for those new to setting as they can be hard to work with and is it harder to see the processes involved in setting. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: None, all abilities are welcomed. We support you throughout the session and provide demonstrations to show you the techniques and steps needed to create your project. In this class Peter will teach you how to make a catch with a hinged locking mechanism.This project is easier than it first looks, but you do need to have experience piercing out shapes and drilling. During the one-day workshop Peter will show you some other options and explain how they work. You will also be provided with information handouts and materials. These specialist skills can be applied across other aspects of jewellery making. You NEVER stop learning as far as the jewellery industry is concerned and it is Peter’s passion to maintain traditional skill. About this Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) This 5 half-day Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) course will assist energy professionals in the planning and operation of a power system from renewable energy sources. The VILT course will discuss key operating requirements for an integrated, reliable and stable power system. The unique characteristics of renewable energy are discussed from a local, consumer centric and system perspective, bringing to life the ever-changing paradigm in delivering energy to customers. The course will explore the technical challenges associated with interconnecting and integrating hundreds of gigawatts of solar power onto the electricity grid in a safe and reliable way. With references to international case studies, the VILT course will also demonstrate the state of the art methodologies used in forecasting solar power. The flexibility of the invertor-based resources will facilitate higher penetrations of photovoltaic, battery electricity storage systems and demand response while co-optimizing customer resources. The contribution of inverter-based generators that provides voltage support, frequency response and regulation (droop response), reactive power and power quality with a high level of accuracy and fast response will be addressed. Furthermore, this VILT course will also describe how microgrids' controllers can allow for a fully automated energy management. Distributed energy resources are analyzed in detail from a technical and financial aspect and will address the best known cost based methodologies such as project financing and cost recovery.
