kay doble
Winchester
Kay is fascinated by nature and its inherent beauty, making work out of natural
materials, predominantly bird, reptile and animal skins as well as other
components such as bones. Attracted to the intricacies of formation,
proportions, structure and surface found within nature from an aesthetic,
microcosmic and physical level but also from a deeper, macrocosmic and
scientific level where science is combined with art in particular biology,
genetics and the relationship between our innate behaviour and our outward
physical appearance with particular fascination by the golden ratio, natural
selection and the ornamental differences found within sexual selection. Valuing
craftsmanship and process Kay enhances, juxtaposes and explores the limitations
of natural components and traditional processes, aiming to question conventional
roles and associations, creating original and conceptual pieces that invite the
viewer to see the work with a fresh perspective.
