In the firearms portion, students will gain an understanding of how to use a handgun to control a confrontation with a criminal. Students will learn appropriate tactics and decision-making skills to use while armed, under stress, and in the midst of a confrontation. Students must be able to handle a pistol safely and hit a silhouette target at 7 yards. Trained officers will then be certified and licensed with the state to work for a business or agency. *While this course can be completed online, students must be able to visit the academy to satisfy the range requirements of the certification.
