Free relationships and sex education training for professionals working in North Wales. Cwmni Addysg Rhyw - Sex Education Company has been commissioned to deliver relationships and sex education (RSE) training to BCUHB staff and partner organisations in North Wales. The aim of this training is to increase confidence and skills to work more effectively with issues concerning sexual health and vulnerable young people. 'The best training I have ever attended!' 'Fun & informative' Attend the first day of the course if you simply want to update your RSE information and attend both days if you want to gain skills and confidence in delivering RSE to individuals or groups. Day one Vulnerable clients Attitudes and values in relation to practice The law and sex Key sexual health issues, including safer sex Gender identity and sexual orientation Communication and sexual health Relevant resources Day two - Additional second day/module for delivering RSE Assessing learning needs Developing purpose and learning outcomes Managing safety and boundary issues Planning, delivering and evaluating sessions Each day will run from 9.30am to 4.30pm via Teams or Zoom. There is significant investment of resources in terms of time, planning and budget to deliver this service and due to repeated incidents of non-attendance without notice it has now become necessary to introduce a charging policy for cancellation and non attendance. Although this course is free of charge to attend we will charge late cancellation administration fees as follows: No notification of non-attendance - £50, less than 48 hours notice of non-attendance £30, Less than 1 weeks notice of non-attendance £25. By registering on the course you agree to these charges on late cancellation or failure to attend. As we usually have a reserve list for our courses we ask you to only book on the course if you can attend the whole day. Arriving late or leaving early will be classed as non-attendance and may be charged as such. We will be delivering this training via Teams or Zoom. Speakeasy is a free course for parents and other caregivers of autistic children and young people, aged up to 18 years old, living within Conwy and Denbighshire. A programme of six sessions. Mondays 6pm to 8pm. We will be delivering the course online. Discussing growing up, relationships, and sex with your autistic child can be a challenging yet essential aspect of parenting. Our Speakeasy course is designed to guide you through these conversations; join us for a course designed to address the specific needs of parents with autistic children and young people, supporting you to talk with your child about growing up, relationships and sex. The course will cover: What is relationships and sex education and what it means for you Growing up and puberty Online behaviour Protecting children from harm Safer sex Relationships and sexuality education (RSE) in school The course offers a flexible and relaxed way to gain greater confidence in an area that can cause embarrassment and awkwardness for families with children of all ages. The programme is particularly suited to parents and caregivers of autistic children and young people as we can explore key concerns, adapt resources to different needs and work as a group on maximising strengths and problem solving.  Eligibility: Are you a parent or other caregiver of an autistic child/children? Relationships and sex education for learning disability nurses.

This one day course will support teachers and RSE leads in special colleges and special schools with post 16 learners to deliver a meaningful curriculum through the Preparing for Adulthood outcomes. The course will explore key issues for older learners, including how to teach about practical aspects of relationships such as attraction and fancying people, starting relationships, negotiation and consent discussions, and how to keep yourself safe. Participants will leave with increased confidence to develop and deliver a skills-based, rights focused curriculum that will empower learners to be able to navigate their personal lives and relationships with autonomy.   Aim: To develop confidence to create and deliver an age-appropriate, rights based RSE curriculum for young adults with learning disabilities.   Outcomes: Participants will develop understanding of requirements for RSE for older learners, including the statutory guidance and preparation for adulthood outcomes, and how RSE can support independent living consider specific challenges young people with SEND may face in developing relationships and explore practical and creative ways to support relationship skill development explore strategies to address sexualised behaviour, and what to do if a learner begins or wants to masturbate in college   Who is this course for? This one day course is ideal for teachers and RSE leads working in special schools and tutors in colleges with older learners, up to age 25, and beyond.

Come and join Supported Loving's Community of Practice for anyone working with people with learning disabilities and/or autistic people delivering relationships and sex education, this can be formally groups or informally within your job role. Working in this area can be challenging but as a community we can grow and learn - there is always something new to learn! Each month we will take a topic to discuss and reflect upon what are the challenges and what has worked/ positive approaches. Each session will include a case study to explore , a section where we share our favourite resources to use on this topic and space to discuss our practice surrounding this topic.
