Thanks to funding from Cycling UK, Active Cycles is excited to offer free Bike Maintenance and Repair sessions this Summer! Our expert mechanics will be on hand to check the safety of your bike and perform small fixes to help get you cycling this summer! You do not need to have purchased a bike from Active Cycles in order to access these sessions, but please note we cannot accommodate for specialist bikes or e-bikes.
The Greek Language Summer Camp is a great way for your child to greatly improve their Greek and have fun with other international children. Our program is for children aged 6-15 years and aims to develop children’s speaking skills and boost their confidence when speaking Greek. Young learners are usually faster to learn and grasp foreign languages, especially some aspects of languages like the pronunciation and new vocabulary. This is precisely why close contact with a Greek speaking environment and native Greek speakers is the perfect opportunity for children to engage in the Greek language fast and absorb new skills very quickly.
In-Person Law Summer School

An understanding of the law can get you a long way, whether it’s knowing your rights at a protest march or negotiating a corporate merger. From police interviews to boardroom conferences, it is very often the lawyers who call the shots. The study and practice of law requires a sharp mind, exceptional attention to detail and occasionally a flare for the dramatic. It can certainly be challenging and complex, but it is also a lot of fun to master. The Law Summer School will sharpen your problem solving skills, hone your ability to identify weaknesses in an argument or body of evidence and give you the confidence to advocate for your position (in court or anywhere else). Both in-person Law events emphasise experiential learning – from simulated client conferences, to business negotiations, to mock trials, you will have the opportunity to practice and develop your abilities in a supportive environment where excellence is recognised and celebrated. If you’ve ever dreamed of making a brilliant closing speech to the jury, this is your chance! Suitable for students aged 15 - 18. Please note that this course is non-residential. Performing Arts Summer School

This year, we will be hosting our summer school Monday 31st July-Friday 4th August, 9am-4pm at our studio: GDA, Unit 16 Paper Mill End, B44 8NH. Each day, children will participate in a range of performing arts, including dancing, singing, drama and arts and crafts all around the theme of Roald Dahl's Matilda. We hope to put on a mini performance on the Friday afternoon which parents are invited to watch. This is open to ALL CHILDREN aged 6-13 years. The cost to members is £25 per day or £90 for all 5 days. Children should wear their own comfortable clothing and can either bring a packed lunch or pre-order a hot dinner for £2. Hot food must be requested at least 7 days prior to the summer school starting and will vary each day but be items such as pizza and chips / burger and chips / jacket potatoes etc. Places will be limited but, going by previous years, extremely popular. To secure a place, please contact us clearly stating which date/s you would like. Individual days must be paid in full at time of booking. If you would like to do all 5 days, we request 50% at time of booking with the balance due 14th July.

A challenging and enjoyable week of music-making in a very friendly atmosphere. A feature of the Music Summer School is the very high ratio of tutors to participants, with a professional tutor for each instrumental and vocal section. All courses enjoy wide-ranging and exciting repertoire. There will also be a range of open sessions run by members of the tutoring team, plus informal sessions which are member-led. Concerts take place on many of the evenings, given both by participants and professionals. From 2024 we will be using the excellent facilities provided by Uppingham School in the county of Rutland.

Our action-packed 5 day course includes over 35 hours of masterclasses taught by industry professionals, and ends with a live public performance in front of peers and parents. Our lower age group offers all of the below modules with a focus on developing skills, having fun with friends and performing for family. 16-21 year olds: This group is suitable for 16-21 year olds who would like a future in the performing arts. While still suitable for those who want to have fun, the courses will be focused on perfecting audition skills for casting calls and drama school applications. A showreel allows them to see you in action through a series of short video clips. While taking part in the Academy, you will have the chance to purchase optional headshots and a showreel to showcase your talents. Our team will help you capture the very best bits of your performances and a brilliant headshot that you can use to apply for future castings and opportunities.
