Course Description: The 18th edition course is a 3 day short course aimed at anyone involved in the design, construction and inspection and testing of electrical systems, also a nationally recognised ‘must have’ qualification for companies seeking to recruit electricians. It is intended to introduce the candidate to a working knowledge of the Wiring Regulations along with a brief overview of the Electricity at Work Regulations covering their statutory duties. Previous knowledge of the regulations is not assumed, however, a fundamental knowledge of electrical principles is assumed. Please be aware that the Wiring Regulations course is not designed to teach you every regulation in the book but it will teach you the best practices on how the reference the latest regulations as you would on the job. As such key topics currently covered on the 17th Edition will still be included. We have been delivering Wiring Regulations courses for many years and although it is mainly theory based you cannot beat real training in a real classroom. By training with other people in your class you will benefit from being able to ask relevant questions as well as finding the answers to many questions from your fellow students that you may not have even thought of. The examination is a 2 hour multiple choice, open book PC based examination with instant results. The course cost includes examination entry fees. The NVQ Level 3 is designed to provide both new entrants and those seeking progression in their career, with the opportunity to develop the necessary skills to carry out job roles and responsibilities associated with the installation and maintenance of Electrotechnical systems. The EWR is for electricians who have been working in the industry for at least 5 years but have not formally completed an industry apprenticeship or Level 3 NVQ qualification. Successful completion of the NVQ and AM2 assessment will satisfy the entry criteria for JIB accredited Gold Card status. Bear in mind that the C&G 2391-50 and 18th Edition courses are pre-requisites to the Experienced Worker route. If you want to start installing independently or with an electrical contractor look no further as this course will give you the skills and knowledge required. This package which will allow you to become a fully qualified domestic installer and enable you to join a Competent Person Self-Certification Scheme and certify your own domestic work.

If you have at least 5 years working experience and you would like to attain Gold Card status via the Experienced Worker route by joining the City & Guilds 2346 NVQ Level 3, you will also need to hold the below two pre-requisite qualifications: City & Guilds 2391-52 Inspection and Testing Course C&G 2382-22 BS7671 18th Edition

Every electrical installation that was designed to the 18th edition regulations (which was released in July 2018) or all electrical installations from 2019 onwards will have been to the 18th edition of the IET Wiring Regulations BS7671 2018. Firstly it is intended to introduce the candidate to a working knowledge of the Wiring Regulations (BS7671 IET) whilst also giving a brief overview of the Electricity at Work Regulations covering their statutory duties. Previous knowledge of the regulations is not assumed, however, a fundamental knowledge of electrical principles is assumed. Please be aware that the 18th Edition course is not designed to teach you every electrical regulation in the BS7671 nevertheless it will teach you the best practices on how the reference the latest regulations as you would on the job. Personnel involved in the electrotechnical sector such as electricians, designers and inspectors who wish to update their knowledge to the IET Wiring Regulations Eighteenth Edition. Learners who wish to gain an understanding of BS 7671.

Even if you have completed a level 3 NVQ or a previous version of the wiring regulations, you still will have to prove you are conversant with the current standards. So therefore, keeping up to date with the latest wiring regulations satisfies these requirements. Although the BS 7671 can be a tricky book to navigate, our course has been designed in such a way as to ensure that you will have the knowledge to identify and find the topics covered in each of the relevant parts of the book.
