This week far exceeded my expectations – I can’t wait to get back and apply what I’ve learntJOHN BUCHANBERGER Part 3 is the Human Givens Practitioner Qualification; the pre-requisite to becoming a fully qualified human givens therapist, eligible for inclusion on the HGI’s Professional Register (which is independently accredited in the UK by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care). Throughout the week, students practise and demonstrate a broad range of practical therapeutic skills under close supervision and rigorous on-going assessment by the two tutors and experienced facilitators. Students who have already successfully graduated from the course enthuse about how useful and enriching it is. Between Part 2 and Part 3 of the Diploma students are expected to carry out extensive therapeutic practice, with a minimum of 10 different people, under ongoing supervision. This course is aimed at health and social care staff who are both registered and unregistered, who work with or support individuals where safeguarding concerns are a possibility.

The course is aimed at everyone working in health and social care that makes decisions for people who may lack capacity and who require a knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and, specifically, the issue of deprivation of liberty safeguards (DOLS).

Course Details Aims This mental health awareness training course is a mandatory requirement for working within health and social care. The course forms standard 9 of The Care Certificate. All staff working with individuals who suffer with mental health should take this course. Mental Health Awareness Training Course Summary: •Understand the experiences of people with mental health needs •Understand the importance of promoting positive health and wellbeing for an individual who may have a mental health need •Understand the adaptations in care delivery relating to an individual who may have a mental health issue •Understand the importance of early detection of mental health needs •Understand legal frameworks, policy and guidelines relating to mental health needs •Understand mental capacity

The Care Certificate is a Five-day, instructor led course in a fully equipped training room. We use a mixture of training methods such as hands on activities, group discussion, games and the use of equipment / technology to cover the different learning styles of the individual. Learners will develop their knowledge, skills and understanding around the 15 care standards. Each of the 15 standards have specific learning outcomes and assessment criteria. The Care Certificate provides care staff with the fundamental skills to provide a quality, safe and effective service. The course covers manual handling of people and objects which is a full day course using equipment. Care providers are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and as a result must meet the Health and Social Care Act 2014 (Regulation 18 Staffing). Evidence of training and understanding is provided to support providers in their evidence of compliance. Instructions Attendees to arrive on time at 9.30am and will leave around 16.30pm It is important that learners are fit and well to participate in group activities. The YMCA qualifications support every learner, whether they are taking their first steps into fitness or simply wish to boost their skills. Course Overview Through completion of this qualification, learners will develop an awareness of mental health and be able to signpost others to mainstream medical or alternative support organisations. The purpose of this qualification is to develop learners' understanding of mental health, mental ill health and the risks associated with mental health conditions. Learners will also learn about sources of support available to individuals with mental health conditions. Endorsed by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), this qualification can be used towards members' annual Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirements. Enables learners to understand: • Mental health, mental ill health and mental health conditions • Attitudes to mental health • The importance of physical activity and exercise for mental health. Provides learners with knowledge of: • Risks associated with mental health conditions • Mainstream and alternative methods of supporting individuals with mental health conditions. Structure and Assessment: To achieve the YMCA Level 2 Award in Mental Health Awareness and Understanding Approaches to Support Individuals (603/7146/8), learners must successfully complete one unit. Entry Requirments Learners should be aged 16 plus No formal prerequisites, however it is recommended that learners hold YMCA Awards Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing or equivalent. Progression Routes This qualification doesn't provide automatic progression onto another YMCA Awards qualification, however it may provide progression opportunities on to qualifications related to careers in mental health, health and social care, counselling or psychology. Learners taking this qualification may also consider further training at the same and higher levels in a range of qualifications. The Care Certificate is an agreed set of standards that define the minimum knowledge, skills and behaviours expected of specific job roles in the health and social care sectors. Developed jointly by Skills for Care, Health Education England and Skills for Health. The Care Certificate is made up of the 15 minimum standards that should be covered if you are 'new to care' and should form part of a robust induction programme. At 3CP training, we have redesigned the theory aspects from all 15 standards and developed these into a three-day affordable intensive course, leaving the manager, once completed, to use the rest of the thirteen-week recommended induction period to be spent on Competency checks of the worker and subsequent completion of the Care Certificate. To ensure compliance, this course has been approved by our local health authority and has been successfully rolled out for many years.
