These workshops are a wonderful way to explore your creativity and work in a variety of mediums, inc ink, paint , acrylic markers, needle felt and hand stitching.&nbsp;You will create a loose and abstract background which will then allow you to intuitively find your landscape details to bring forth in detail with acrylic pens,&nbsp;felting and stitches.&nbsp; These workshops are suitable for complete newbies from age 16 upwards.&nbsp;

Welcome to the fascinating alchemy that is wet felting.&nbsp; Starting with wool fibres in a wide range of colours we will create a piece of felt &ndash; which could be a picture or completely abstract. &nbsp;The finished fabric will be suitable to stitch into or just hang on the wall. &nbsp;
During the workshop you will learn all the skills you need to be a successful felter.&nbsp; You will choose the fibres, layer them in the right way and then wet the wool and encourage it to knit together.&nbsp; Once the initial wool tangling has been achieved it is then onto the felting proper, it does take a bit of energy on your part but is worth the effort.&nbsp;
You will take home a finished item at the end of the session and I will keep you motivated with tea and cake!&nbsp;
If you want to continue at home, I always have plenty of wool roving and felting tools in stock.

Description
Come and join Hannah at Stitching Kitchen for an introduction to the fascinating alchemy that is wet felting. Starting with wool fibres in a wide range of colours, you will have fun creating a piece of felt – which could be a picture or completely abstract. The finished fabric will be suitable to stitch into or ready to simply hang on the wall. 




What you will learn/achieve

The skills you need to be a successful felter
How to select the fibres, layer them in the right way and then wet the wool and encourage it to knit together
Once the initial wool tangling has been achieved, it is then onto the felting proper. Wet felting does take a bit of physical energy on your part but it is great fun and is worth the effort
You will take home a finished item at the end of the session

All the materials that you will need on the day, including merino wool roving.
Use of felting tools in the Stitching Kitchen studio on the day.

If you want to continue at home, Stitching Kitchen always has plenty of wool roving and felting tools in stock available for purchase.

The practice of mindful stargazing is about immersing yourself in the experience of the night time and developing a first-hand, experiential knowledge of what it is not to look out at the Universe, but to &lsquo;be&rsquo; in this vast Universe of ours. During the evening we&rsquo;ll be exploring a variety of mindful stargazing practices, focussing on contemplating our place within the cosmos and our connections to it &ndash; scientifically, energetically and spiritually.&nbsp;Before going outside, we&rsquo;ll practice a cosmic body scan, sensing different parts of our body and how they&rsquo;re made of stuff that was produced in stars billions of years ago. Then as we go outdoors, we&rsquo;ll spend some time immersing ourselves in the experience of the night sky as it is (clear or cloudy), and explore how we can feel part of the cosmos, at home in this vast universe of ours.
