Trauma Informed Practice in Education is a research evidence based whole school systems approach that starts with you. Improved attendance, improved learning outcomes, reduced suspensions and exclusions and better staff recruitment, retention and wellbeing all begin from a place of understanding child development, the impact of adversity on child development and the role of us as educators in supporting opportunities for growth and resilience. Systems change takes teamwork, however the most important member of that team is you. On this Trauma Informed Practice Day you will learn the why and how to keep you well and resourced in order to support the emotional and academic progress of the children in your school. You may already have some knowledge or you may be coming as a complete novice. Either and anything in between is fine. Numbers are limited to keep the group small for the benefit of more enriched learning. Awareness of Safeguarding Safeguarding • Adults & Children at Risk Our Safeguarding Workshops cover a variety of topics, including identifying signs of abuse or neglect, understanding legal responsibilities related to safeguarding, and implementing effective strategies for preventing harm. These Workshops are led by experienced Trainers who have extensive knowledge in the field of Safeguarding. They are designed to provide Healthcare Professionals with the knowledge and skills they need to protect vulnerable individuals in their care. The Workshops are highly interactive, providing participants with plenty of opportunities to engage in discussions, ask questions, and practice new skills. We believe that this hands-on approach enhances learning and helps participants apply what they’ve learned in real-world situations. Course: Four Hours Cost:  £45 + vat per person Awareness of Safeguarding Qualification will provide an understanding of Safeguarding which can be used in a workplace, activity group or any instance where a person comes into contact with children or adults at risk. The Qualification provides learners with the knowledge to identify a Safeguarding concern, record a disclosure and report to the appropriate person. The qualification does not have an expiry date, but refresher training and keeping up-to-date with changes to policies, procedures and new legislation through ongoing CPD is vital.

Safer recruitment is designed to help those who are responsible for employing anyone who works with vulnerable groups, to identify and deter or reject individuals who are deemed to be at risk of abusing. It is crucial that all employers have a recruitment policy in place that takes into account safer recruitment best practices and considerations. This course covers key topics including: advertising, application forms, selecting candidates for interview based on the information they have presented, and post-interview checks - including DBS checks - before making an offer of employment. Recruitment of staff is now a complex process and there are many issues that need to be considered to ensure safe and successful recruitment, to reduce in turn the risk of harm, abuse and neglect of adults and children.

This course looks at the initial alert and the decision-making process in deciding to make a referral, taking into consideration consent and capacity of the alleged vulnerable adult, keeping them at the centre of the decision-making process.
