The Emergency First Aid at Work Awareness Course is ideal for businesses, especially in low-risk environments. This course covers all the core competencies outlined by the HSE, making it an acceptable workplace first aid course. Completing this course allows you to be an appointed first aider in the low-risk workplace. It meets HSE workplace first aid requirements and aligns with the latest UK Resuscitation Council guidelines. Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider a. Identify the role and responsibilities of a first aider b. Identify how to minimise the risk of infection to self and others c. Identify the need for consent to provide first aid 2. Be able to assess an incident a. Conduct a scene survey b. Conduct a primary survey of a casualty c. Summon appropriate assistance when necessary 3. Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty a. Identify when to administer Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) b. Demonstrate CPR using a manikin (including the use of an AED device) c. Justify when to place a casualty into the recovery position d. Course Summary Mini Medics - First Aid The Mini Medics courses is a Child friendly introduction to first aid and defibrillation aimed at children between the ages of 8 and 11, but it can suit children of any age from about 5 upwards. The course is kept at a basic level with no use of confusing terminologies. The mini medics course will show complete respect for the child’s ability, make it educational and practical, and instil the importance of helping someone who is poorly or injured. Fully illustrated 24-page ‘First Aid for Children’ book • A unique syringe pen in various colours (or colouring pencils) • A 4-page worksheet There is also the opportunity to purchase t-shirts and hoodies - delivered at a later date Course Contents A range of subjects are covered including: What is First Aid? Who is this for? This qualification is typically delivered over 1 day. It is for those working in lower risk workplaces, or higher risk workplaces with a small number of staff and visitors. The qualification is open to those over 14 years of age, however only those over 16 can act as a sole first aider within the workplace. Course content This qualification has been developed to meet the first aid training requirements outlined by the H.S.E. The course includes: What is first aid? First aid in the workplace Responsibilities of the first aider Primary survey Unconscious casualty management Resuscitation Choking Shock Wounds and Bleeding Minor burns Seizures Additional topics can be delivered on request although delivery time may need to be extended and costs may vary.
