550 Dance courses

(5-7yrs) The syllabus is based on the ISTD grade however we do also incorporate an imaginative playful approach to the work to keep the Ballet fun. All technique can be boring and we don't want that! TRIAL BOOKINGS: Of course you are welcome to watch the trial class but following the trial, WhizzDancers are expected to be independent in the room. TERM BOOKINGS: You are welcome to watch the first class but following this your WhizzDancer will be expected to go in the class independently. You will be expected to provide full uniform. Details will be sent following. We have lots of opportunities ahead for your WhizzDancer including exams and shows. (8-10yrs) Tap uses a different skill set to Ballet and Jazz as the emphasise is on creating rhythm and sound using footwork. Due to the nature of Tap, the physicality of the work is mainly focused on the legs, hips, knees and ankles and of course those tapping feet! Tap teaches a great sense of rhythm, timing and musical awareness. Once you join one of our group classes at the studio you will participate in the warm-up, class and cool down.  You will be able to hear the instructor and the class however the instructor will not be able to interact with you.  This is purely a watch and learn class.

Pole jams run at the same time that another class is running at the other end of the studio.  Class/course members receive priority over poles (due to paying a higher rate) so you may be required to share a pole with another jammer if we are busy, however most of the time you should have a pole to yourself.

“I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.” - Thornton Wilder Our Technical Theatre students are lucky enough to learn from highly experienced Theatre Manager and owner of Addsomecolour Productions, Peter Humphreys. Peter is the Theatre Manager for Cranleigh Schools and has worked as the Technical Manager producing shows and events for Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, as well as touring with Encore Dance Company. This specialised course gives students a glimpse behind the curtains at the theatre, and the basic skills they need to work in this industry. It's perfect for anyone who wants to work in crucial behind-the-scenes roles in theatre, as each day contains practical training on subjects like lighting, design, sound, projection, setup and operation. In fact, you'll be taught the process of putting on a show, and get hands-on experience when you use what you've learned to run the technical side of the live shows at the end of the Academy! ‍ WHEN AND WHERE? The Technical Theatre Course takes place in Cranleigh Arts Centre, around 20 minutes from Guildford. The venue has a professional theatre, a sprung dance floor for choreography sessions, dressing rooms, and lots of great areas for filming and multimedia activities, so it's the perfect spot for our aspiring performers to learn in. ‍ Monday 22nd - Friday 26th July 2023 In2Drama is split into two groups for age related focus All ages: 2.30pm - 5pm

Join textile artist Tilly Tea Dance for a one day creative workshop. Using a barbed needle to fuse different fibres together you’ll learn how to use needle-felting and hand embroidery to create a stunning and one-off piece of artwork. No experience is necessary as Maxine will guide us all the way so you can take home a piece of work to be proud of. This is always a popular workshop so please book as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
