Join Julia for a series of bite-sized, practical pattern-cutting sessions designed to help you adapt and evolve your existing blocks and patterns.
Each month focuses on a different technique or project to boost your confidence and skills in pattern adaptation and design.
You can join all or some of the workshops, booking on as you want. You can also book the whole block of 4 workshops at a reduced rate.

These workshop will teach you how to construct or adapt pattens, using either a block/slope or a commercial patten . The workshops are suitable for all levels, even if you have never tried pattern cutting before.

The Saturday Pattern Club is lead by JULIA BURROWS, an experienced pattern drafter and apparel designer, who worked as a successful designer and pattern cutter for 30 years on several brand ranges in South Africa and for suppliers to Marks & Spencers in Britain. 

She has since taught pattern cutting and manufacturing for Fashion Enter in London and now works with Textiles Skills Centre, for whom she develops online courses and leads on-line and in-person pattern and sewing workshops.

Craft4Smiles Cademy Launch

Aim
Hi-Tech Training Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Installation Course is designed to give participants a practical knowledge of the operation and installation of CCTV systems at a foundation level.
Duration and Schedule
Next course commences on Saturday 4th October at 10.00am and takes place from 10.00am – 5.00pm every Saturday for the duration of the 3-week Course.
A payment of £65 secures your place on your chosen course. The balance of the course fees of £600 can be paid shortly before course commencement.


Online Virtual Classroom – how it works?
The course will be delivered through blended training consisting of 3 online virtual classroom sessions. The final sessions will involve the additional practical work for the course as well as the written examination and practical assessments which will take place at our training centre at 43 North Great Georges Street, Dublin 1. (final session online for learners outside ROI).
During the virtual classroom sessions, Trainees will have a live video feed with their instructor talking to them, doing practical live demonstrations on equipment being involved actively in the learning.
We will send out a practical kit so that trainees can complete assignments and practical work at home. The kit is the property of Hi-Tech Training and will be returned to Hi-Tech Training on the last day of the course.

The kit consists of multimeter, DVR (Digital Video Recorder), Monitor, Cameras, BNC connectors, Coax and security cable, battery, resistors, baluns, cutters, screwdriver, Lens Calculator, Power Supply Units, etc. Trainees will build various projects as part of the course.
The kit forms an integral part of the course, so full course fees need to be paid prior to course commencement to allow time to ship the kit in time for the course.
* If attending the course from outside of Ireland the course practical training kit must be purchased via our online shop in time for delivery before course commencement. The equipment will then remain the property of the trainee.

CCTV Systems:– Introduction and uses.
Elements of a basic CCTV system:- Camera, monitor and digital recorder.
Camera types and uses:- Fixed and movable, indoor and outdoor, monochrome and colour, day and night.
Camera specifications:- Sensitivity, signal to noise ratio and resolution.
Back Focus Adjustment.
Lens types:- Fixed and variable focal length, manual and motorised zoom.
Use of lens calculator.
Scene illumination:- Lighting considerations, LED’s, infrared lamp maintenance and bulb life.
Switches, Quads, Multiplexers and control systems: – Types and applications.
Monitors and Multiple screen displays.
Recording the footage:- Analogue and Digital video recorders.
Time-lapse recording. Reviewing video footage.
Cables and connectors: – Types, uses, limitations, preparation and testing.
Introduction to Digital CCTV and IP technology.
Connection to other security systems.
Use of test equipment including – Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Light Meters, Pattern Generators and Cable Length Meters.
Relevant standards, issues and the “Operational Requirement”.

Certification

On completion of the CCTV Installation Course, having been successful in TWO examinations (one written, one practical) the participant will receive a Hi-Tech Training Certificate.
This course can be used as one of the elements leading to CCTV & Lighting FETAC/QQI Level 5 Component Award – 5N1771

Aim
The Fire Alarm Foundation course is designed to give participants a practical knowledge of the operation and installation of Fire Alarm Systems at a foundation level. During this practical and theory-based course students will gain the skills and knowledge to install and wire up a Fire Alarm Control Panel to typical auxiliary equipment such as Break Glass Units, Smoke Detectors, Heat Detectors, Bells, and Sirens.
Duration and Schedule
The Fire Alarm Foundation course runs over 3 Saturdays commencing on Saturday 8th November at 10.00am and takes place over 3 consecutive Saturdays from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm each Saturday (the first 2 classes are on zoom and the last class in the centre). This course has been developed by Julia Burrows, a pattern cutter and apparel designer who worked as a successful designer and pattern cutter for 30 years on several brand ranges in South Africa and for suppliers to Marks & Spencers in Britain.
