The TEXTILES SKILLS CENTRE brings together industry and education experts to support, develop and deliver resources, courses and events for textiles teachers, trainers and the open community.

Bangladesh Youth and Cultural Shomiti (BYCS) is based in Highfields, Leicester with 2 venues, one on Biddulph Street and one on Myrtle Road. Our venue on Myrtle Road has an onsite crèche facility, with qualified staff members, for parents to use whilst they are studying. BYCS provide an array of information, advice and guidance, including National Careers Services (NCS) and Social Welfare Services. BYCS provides learning and employment services to help local residents and workers gain new skills and qualifications. The centre helps those out of work produce a CV, search and apply for jobs, develop their digital and employability skills and help find work. Our centre provides accredited qualifications from Entry 1 to GCSE’s and vocational qualifications, such as: Food Safety in Catering and Health and Safety in the Work Place. Vikings of Middle England is a Viking Re-enactment, Historical Entertainment and Living History group based in Leicester, United Kingdom (UK). We perform at events to audiences across the country, showing the struggles and victories of our Viking, Anglo-Saxon and Norman ancestors. Made up of volunteer members, we provide spectacularly visceral combat displays, dramatic acted scenarios and an extensive 'living history' encampment that breathes as craftsmen and women go about their business. I am fortunate enough to be the Principal of Homefield College and am delighted that you have found your way to our website to explore the many opportunities that the College provides to support people with learning difficulties and / or disabilities to lead fulfilling lives. Homefield College was founded in 1987 as a long-term residential provision for people with learning and communication difficulties. We have since expanded our offering with specialist further education and training, supporting both part-time and full-time day and residential students. The College now offers a range of individualised vocational education programmes based within local communities. All programmes are tailored to the needs of each individual with the starting point being that they feel safe in the environment that they are in. Once this is achieved it allows our staff to work with them to develop and improve their skills to enable them to live more independently once they leave the College. You will see on the website details of the activities that we provide which put together make up a study programme. Our education provision is based upon our belief that young people achieve through experience and this is reflected in the activities provided in our programmes. Students will undertake work experience and we hope that for some of them this will lead to a supported internship. Beyond the education provision, we also offer residential experiences for those who would like to further develop their independent living skills and this can often provide a period of respite for the student’s family. Homefield also provides a range of services for those who remain as part of our lifelong learning provision. These include: long-term residential care, supported work experiences, day services and community enterprises.
