There are a gazillion things I never seem to get around to doing (fixing the broken blind in our bedroom, getting some photos printed of ‘the baby’ who is almost two but still doesn’t exist on our walls, pinning down the coffee date I’ve been promising my neglected friend via WhatsApp for at least 6 months…) BUT this morning I finally got my arse in gear and ticked off something from my ‘Really Must Do’ list by attending a First Aid class designed specifically for parents, grandparents and carers of babies and young children. St Joseph’s School, Wetherby (Early Years class) Our Nursery class love to get involved in whole-school curriculum enrichment activities but First Aid for 3-4 year olds? Even for our well-seasoned teachers, this sounded like a tall order. How wrong we were! Our sessions with Claire were absolutely brilliant. Skillful teaching, great resources, clear messages and important safety information; empowering our children to feel like mini first aiders. With the help of Max the teddy, we learned simple first aid techniques for cuts, scrapes and head bumps; as well as learning how to make someone comfortable by lying them on their side if they are very poorly. We learned about how you may need to phone 999 in an emergency and that you need to know your address. One afternoon, we were enjoying a day out in the sunshine and had stopped to feed our daughter of 7 months, she’s just started solid food and we’d been giving her sliced banana to chew on. On this particular day, she inhaled a small piece and began to choke. I quickly remembered Martin’s words, put her in the proper hold, bottom in the air and one forceful strike between her shoulder blades dislodged the banana and although she was shocked, she was able to breathe again and I can’t tell you how relieved we felt! It may have only been 10 seconds in which she couldn’t breathe but it was terrifying. Had I not had the training from Martin and Mini First Aid, I cannot even begin to imagine how differently the situation could have turned out. In fact, I’d go as far to say that the training I received enabled me to save our daughter’s life.

Course outcomes
The MHFA Refresher course takes four hours to complete and will enable learners to: 
Keep their knowledge, awareness, and skills of mental health support current
Update their knowledge of mental health and what influences it
Practice applying the Mental Health First Aid action plan
Once you have completed your MHFA Refresher course, you will be certified for three years. You will also be invited to become or stay a member of MHFA England's Association of Mental Health First Aiders, making sure you have everything you need to feel confident when supporting others.


Completed a different mental health first aid course, you can still complete this refresher to maintain your MHFAider status
As part of the MHFA vision to improve the mental health of the nation, we are now able to accept other Level 3 qualifications from other providers as entry points for this course.

Ce cours officiel BRCGS permet aux participants d'acquérir une compréhension approfondie de la norme en termes de protocole, d'exigences et de méthodes d'audit efficaces. Les participants acquerront les compétences nécessaires pour évaluer la conformité aux exigences de la norme, y compris les clauses fondamentales, les déclarations d'intention, la manière d'entreprendre un audit BRCGS, la planification de l'audit et le rapport d'audit. Les principes fondamentaux et les techniques d'audit seront abordés, y compris les compétences requises des auditeurs qui réalisent des audits dans le cadre des programmes de certification reconnus par la Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
L'apprentissage actif sera utilisé tout au long du cours grâce à des activités basées sur des études de cas afin d'encourager la pensée critique et d'aider à expliquer comment les auditeurs procèdent à l'audit par rapport à la norme. Les participants doivent avoir une connaissance pratique des systèmes de gestion de la qualité et de l'audit dans le secteur manufacturier concerné, et avoir suivi un cours d'Analyse des dangers et des points critiques pour leur maîtrise (HACCP) d'une durée d'au moins deux jours.
Pour se préparer au cours, les participants doivent lire et examiner une copie de la norme, y compris le glossaire, qui peut être téléchargé gratuitement à partir de la boutique du BRCGS, en plus des documents fournis avant le cours. 
A la fin du cours, vous serez évalué par un examen. La réussite de ce cours, y compris l'examen, fait partie de la formation nécessaire pour devenir un auditeur BRCGS. Les étapes nécessaires pour compléter votre formation doivent être organisées avec un organisme de certification agréé par le BRCGS.
Ce cours fait partie du programme de reconnaissance professionnelle du BRCGS.

Décrire le champ d'application des entreprises et des produits couverts par la norme
Décrire les étapes de la réalisation d'un audit BRCGS, y compris la préparation, la planification et le rapport d'audit.
Utiliser et expliquer les outils de ressources disponibles pour la conformité et le soutien bénéfique du BRCGS.
