BOHS P304 is designed to give practical guidance on assessing the health risks caused by hazardous substances, in order to meet the requirements of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002 for a 'suitable and sufficient' risk assessment.

The Site Safety Plus SMSTS course was introduced on 1 April 2002 as part of the Site Safety Plus CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme. All Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificates issued after 1st January 2001 are valid for a five year period from the date of issue. The two day refresher course will enable current SMSTS certificate holders to renew their qualification, however this course can only be attended by current and valid CITB SMSTS certificate holders. The CITB SMSTS Refresher certificate training course is designed to ensure that personnel maintain and up-date their current health and safety knowledge. The course covers changes to legislation, approved codes of practice and best working practice within the industry. Individuals wishing to renew their SMSTS training certificate must provide a copy of the original five-day course certificate. Details of the course venue and the date of the course should also be provided if known. Only those individuals who have passed the five day course and provided evidence of this will be eligible to take the two day refresher course. Paediatric First Aid Emergency Paediatric First Aid One Day Course Cost:  £75 + vat per person This one-day Emergency Paediatric First Aid course has been designed for those interested in Child and Infant Basic Life Support, including parents, guardians and family members. The purpose of the qualification is for the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of Paediatric First Aid. The FAA Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification is Unit 1 of the two-day FAA Paediatric First Aid qualification. From gaining this Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification, learners could progress to completing Unit 2 and being awarded the 2-day FAA Award in Paediatric First Aid. The qualification is designed for learners with a responsibility for the Care of Children and Babies. It provides knowledge and skills to deal with a range of Paediatric First Aid conditions and incidents. SYLLABUS Role of the Paediatric First Aider Primary survey Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED) Wounds, bleeding and shock Seizure Choking Minor injuries Recovery position Maximum of 12 People Students must be a minimum of 16 years of age to qualify. Numbers A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course. CERTIFICATION The qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. It is recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training. The learner will need to complete the full course again to re-qualify for a further three years. This accredited One-Day Qualification meets the requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982. The Certificate is valid for 3 years and will expire from the date on the certificate. Open course enabling either 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work qualification or 3 day First Aid at Work qualification. Full days session/s are required to ensure you complete and satisfy the trainer to pass the course. Certificate will be provided following full payment and attendance of course which you sign up for.  The 1-day Emergency first aid at work course is designed for first aiders working in small or low-risk environments. A 3-day First aid at work qualification is designed for larger or higher-risk environments and will include a wider range of illnesses and emergency situations.  Legal requirement advises that in workplaces of 5 or more people there should be a minimum of 1 fully trained First Aider on site at all times.

The Moving &Handling Course is a full day course to ensure that care workers are competent and confident to carry out their duties to the standards expected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) when Moving & Handling People. The course is a mixture of theory and practical elements, using various forms of equipment used in the community. Training Aim: To equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and effectively move and handle individuals, minimising the risk of injury to both the care giver and the person being moved, whilst promoting dignity and comfort for the individual. Learning Outcomes: By the end of the session, learners will be able to: Discuss the legal responsibilities, procedures and duty of care when moving and handling individuals Demonstrate abilities when using equipment in line with individual handling plans Explain and understand biomechanical principles Discuss and demonstrate safer moving and handling principles and techniques Identify and demonstrate the safe use of moving and handling equipment Demonstrate abilities to risk assess and carry out POSRA Recognise unsafe practice and the implementing of safer practices Instructions Please can learners ensure they wear trousers and a full shoe.
