With this 2 hour workshop, you will learn to make your own lampshade. You can choose from our wide range of over 1400+ fabrics to make a lampshade. You can match this to your home decor if you so wish.

Ruth has over twenty years of Wood Carving and Pyrography experience and will guide you step by step to create a 2d Relief Carving on a solid piece of Local Wood using traditional gouged and mallets or a design drawn and burnt into the wood. The workshop will take place in an outdoor studio space set on the grounds of the 48 acres Birtley Estate.

Little Crafters is a craft session run by Make, Do & Trend for 18 months-4 year olds. We have a selection of trays out with different crafts to do alongside your child. Each month there will be a new theme with this special on New Years Eve! Your little one will take home at least 4x crafts based on the current theme as well as a snack bowl to have at the end of the session. We will also have a mini New Years Eve countdown before snack time! Tea/ coffee and biscuits will also be provided for the grown ups. Instructions Children are to be supervised at all times. Aprons are available when painting but please be aware that clothes may get messy. Siblings not participating in the crafts are welcome along for free.

Older siblings are welcome and can either pay sibling price and join in with the crafts (snack bowl included) or come along for FREE (snack bowl not included) and I’ll have some colouring and games for them 😊 Tea/ coffee and biscuits will also be provided for the grown ups. Siblings not participating in the crafts are welcome along for free.

Fun with felt flowers gives beginners all the basic information to learn felting around a resist. In the three and a half hours, students will make two different flowers, using different techniques, along with different centres. Workshops start at 10am. I can teach up to nine people here and I can also travel within 20 miles if someone wants a group of friends (minimum 5 participants) in their own house or school. Fabulous idea for a hen party! Please note, though, I do charge mileage. If you have a larger group (say WI or class parents) I am happy to run workshops for up to 20 people in your own venue. My workshops are not timetabled, so there is a great deal of flexibility on dates - just get in touch and we'll sort out a day to suit us both!Please also check out my other listings for Workshops in a Wallet. Our focus within both courses on offer this weekend is to offer our students intricate technical knowledge which is quickly lost to new technology. Well skilled technical jewellers able to create multiple designs by hand are rare and in demand, Peter is dedicated to sharing his endless knowledge and tips, and while he can usually be found online, we are lucky enough to offer classes with Peter in person – a golden opportunity not to be missed. In this class Peter will teach you how to make a catch with a hinged locking mechanism.This project is easier than it first looks, but you do need to have experience piercing out shapes and drilling. During the one-day workshop Peter will show you some other options and explain how they work. You will also be provided with information handouts and materials. These specialist skills can be applied across other aspects of jewellery making. You NEVER stop learning as far as the jewellery industry is concerned and it is Peter’s passion to maintain traditional skill. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Students should have some workshop experience and be confident using normal jewellery tools and equipment. WHAT TO BRING: For safety reasons, during each class, you are required to wear appropriate footwear, we request that no open toed shoes are worn within Workshop 925. Long hair should also be tied back when working with the equipment. You may also wish to bring a notebook. We have handouts for many demonstrations, but there are always many tips and tricks given verbally by the tutor, which some might like to keep note of. Please bring any lunch, snacks and drinks which you may want to your session. We have tea and coffee for you to help yourselves to. We supply all materials and tools.
