This qualification is aimed at those who are involved in carrying out insulation or associated treatments to buildings; the qualification is at Level 3 and should be by those who are experienced and capable of dealing with a wide range of problems and situations and working with installations that have complex requirements. Candidates may take a technical or supervisory role, particularly in relation to less-experienced colleagues. They will also work closely with customers/clients and have well-developed customer service skills. The qualification is designed to ensure that there is a high degree of flexibility to complete by having pathways for a wide range of occupational roles and specialisms. All work must be carried out in accordance with Building Regulations and Industry recognised safe working practices, including the disposal of waste. What is required from candidates? GQA qualifications are made up of a number of units that have a credit value or credits. This qualification consists of 5 mandatory units and 6 pathways to cover occupational roles in External Wall Insulation, Cavity Wall Insulation, Loft insulation, Draught Proofing, Internal insulation and insulation to Framed Sections of Buildings. Candidates must complete all 5 mandatory units which have a total credit value of 23 credits and the required credits from the selected pathway. The Site Safety Plus SMSTS course was introduced on 1 April 2002 as part of the Site Safety Plus CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme. All Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificates issued after 1st January 2001 are valid for a five year period from the date of issue. The two day refresher course will enable current SMSTS certificate holders to renew their qualification, however this course can only be attended by current and valid CITB SMSTS certificate holders. The CITB SMSTS Refresher certificate training course is designed to ensure that personnel maintain and up-date their current health and safety knowledge. The course covers changes to legislation, approved codes of practice and best working practice within the industry. Individuals wishing to renew their SMSTS training certificate must provide a copy of the original five-day course certificate. Details of the course venue and the date of the course should also be provided if known. Only those individuals who have passed the five day course and provided evidence of this will be eligible to take the two day refresher course. The qualification is at level 3 although there may be some units at different levels. Level 3 qualifications are primarily aimed at those who are fully trained and experienced in a wide range of work activities, It is not expected that candidates working in this industry all do the same activities or use the same equipment and machinery so the qualification has been developed to make it as widely available as possible. All work completed must be carried out in accordance with Building Regulations and Industry recognised safe working practices, including the disposal of waste. The qualification is structured to ensure that there is a high degree of flexibility within the pathways and units available and will allow employees from companies of all sizes and specialisms equal opportunity to complete. Join us to gain experience and log miles. Perhaps you have the skill to complete the next level in RYA qualification but need more miles, or maybe you wish to refresh your capabilities as a qualified skipper or a crew member. This is the perfect opportunity to join like-minded people, practice your skills and log those required miles. You will be part of a crew of five, along with one of our experienced instructors who can help you with the skills and drills required for all levels of RYA courses. During a 5-day course you will visit some of the most beautiful harbours and anchorages on the west coast of Scotland. You will be living on one of our fully coded, well equipped, yachts. Food, fuel and marina fees are included. A weekend course will not venture so far, and the emphasis will be on short passages to local harbours or marinas, with lots of activities en route. What is included in the price: 5 nights on board (2 nights on a weekend course), all on board meals and snacks, all marina fees, fuel and gas. Optional extras: oil skins hire - £3.50 per item/day; cleaning fee £12.50/per person or the crew can clean the boat; sleeping bag can be hired at just £15 per period.
