Level 1 & 2 Combined Workshop (F2F) Level 1 Workshop is the starting point for your Makaton journey, with Level 2 building on the knowledge you gained in Level 1. It is recommended for people who need to use Makaton at home and in their work, to develop the communication skills of others. Content Level 1 & 2 training provides a practical introduction to the Makaton Language Programme and a wider understanding of learning and communication difficulties. The Workshop includes how to start using Makaton in everyday situations; immediate needs, home, familiar people, food, events, activities and objects. You will also discover hints and tips for effective signing and symbol use to maximise communication. Vocabulary will also be introduced which is ideal for the school environment and work places. You will begin to learn more abstract concepts such as spatial locations, attributes, pronouns and actions. Duration Level 1 & 2 combined face to face workshops comprise of a minimum of thirteen learning hours, (minimum of six and a half learning hours per level). Workshops generally will take place over two full day of training. Deliver method: Venue based. Entry criteria There is no entry criteria for this Workshop. Study materials You will receive a Participant's Manual, which includes the Makaton symbols and signs that you learn in the workshop. Next steps After completing Level 1 & 2 combined training you can continue on your Makaton journey by attending Level 3 or Level 3 & 4 combined training. Instructions This is a combined Level 1 and 2 course. This venue is within walking distance to Guildford mainline and bus stations. The park and ride stops outside this venue and there are several car parks within a 5 minute walk. Refreshments provided throughout the day and plenty of shops and cafes nearby for lunch. Trauma Informed Practice in Education is a research evidence based whole school systems approach that starts with you. Improved attendance, improved learning outcomes, reduced suspensions and exclusions and better staff recruitment, retention and wellbeing all begin from a place of understanding child development, the impact of adversity on child development and the role of us as educators in supporting opportunities for growth and resilience. Systems change takes teamwork, however the most important member of that team is you. On this Trauma Informed Practice Day you will learn the why and how to keep you well and resourced in order to support the emotional and academic progress of the children in your school. You may already have some knowledge or you may be coming as a complete novice. Either and anything in between is fine. Numbers are limited to keep the group small for the benefit of more enriched learning. On this practice day you will; • Take a deep learning dive into the nervous system and how this applies to you, your setting and the progress of your learners. • Learn practical skills and strategies to support yourself and others. • Have opportunities to discuss children you are working with through small group supervision sessions • Benefit from a day of immersion into the topic with two highly qualified and experienced practitioners.

The Level 5 Certificate in Managing Developer Services for the Water and Environmental Industries is aimed at learners who wish to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the design and construction of Water and Wastewater Network infrastructure assets and services. The qualification addresses the technical needs of managers and others working in the Water and Environmental Industries and will provide learners with a thorough understanding of the rationale for Water and Wastewater planning, design, construction and asset installation. The qualification will address the impact that commercial sustainable development has on the broader Water and Environmental infrastructure and assess the industries ability to renew, extend, repair and replace Water and Wastewater network assets.

Would you know what to do if a child in your care needed first aid?  The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework requires all early years providers in England to have at least one person who has a current and full paediatric first aid certificate on the premises and available at all times when children are present. Providers should also take into account the number of children, staff and layout of the premises and increase their paediatric first aid provision accordingly to ensure that a paediatric first aider is available to respond to emergencies quickly.  The QA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) has been specifically designed to meet the criteria set by the Department for Education’s EYFS Framework and is ideal for:   • Those who have gained a level 2 and/or level 3 childcare qualification and have entered into an early years setting and wish to be included in the staff to child ratios to comply with EYFS requirements.   • Registered childminders and assistants who are required to hold a current and full paediatric first aid certificate in order to comply with the EYFS requirements.   • Anyone who has a non-professional involvement with infants and children, such as parents, grandparents and want to learn key paediatric first aid skills.   Successful candidates will learn the roles and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider, and will be equipped with the necessary skills to administer safe and effective treatment when dealing with a range of paediatric first aid situations.

Content Level 3 training provides a practical learning session on how apply the Makaton Language Programme. The Level 3 Workshop will start with a refresher on the signs previous taught in Levels 1 and 2, building on topics such as; people, activities, events and objects. New vocabulary will also be introduced which are ideal for personal development; feelings, interests, community and, thinking and knowing. You will begin to learn more abstract concepts such as propositions. Duration Face to face workshops comprise of a minimum of six and a half learning hours. Workshops generally will take place over a full day of training.
