Hi everyone, I am Debbie and I created and run the Elsa Support website. My motto is ‘Together we can make a difference’. One of the things I noticed very quickly when I was working in school was that there was a real lack of ELSA resources. I am a bit of a Google queen but even so it was difficult, without spending a huge amount of money on things, to find anything really suitable. I ended up writing my own planning and coming up with ideas and thought why not share them, that was the start of Elsa Support…… It is all about the BEES I love my bees and you might wonder why? Bees are: Busy, they work incredibly hard Work as a team always Social creatures and do communicate with each other Co-operate with each other for the same aim All have very different roles and divide their ultimate job between them all Create honey that feeds them, and us, they even store it for lean times Adaptable and do so when environmental factors change Bees work together for a common goal or aim, we can learn so much from them. They are the reason my very first ‘nurturing’ group was called ‘Busy Bees’. Well that and the fact I managed to buy some fabulous ‘bee cushions’! My vision for that first group was a group of children who belonged. We all know belonging boosts self-esteem. Feeling part of a community can have such an impact on children. Creating a group where children worked together as a team, who supported each other and socialised with each other. In fact, after the very first group I ran I overheard one of the very quiet and shy children organising for them all to meet up at playtime the next day. A major part of my role was helping children with social and emotional issues. It became a huge interest to me to try and break down barriers to learning. I am a big fan of group work and have written many interventions over the years which you can find on the website. I try to keep the cost of resources as low as I can because to me it is important that you do use them, but it is important to me that you can have some free resources to work with children, I know how difficult it is with school budgets. Every Friday I create something for free and share with you all. The website has grown from strength to strength and I have had many emails and messages to tell me how useful it has been to people setting out on the ELSA journey but also helpful to teachers, teaching assistants, learning mentors, counsellors and many other professionals. Back to the Bees and community My vision of my very first ‘nurturing group’ was based on Bees and my vision includes that for ELSA’s and other professionals working with children on social and emotional issues. Mental health awareness, quite rightly, is becoming a huge thing due to so many factors. I really wanted to create community amongst all those people working for the same aims. This is to support you in your role supporting children. Some ELSA’s/adults do work alone in school and just need a bit of support, a listening ear, reassurance and some kind words. Our main group on Facebook has nearly 3000 members, who are all so supportive of each other. It is a wonderful community of like minded people. We have a mentoring section where you can be paired up with another person if you feel you need that extra bit of support. I listen to you, I get involved in discussion, I suggest resources, I suggest ideas and I create resources for you. You tell me what you want, and I try my best to create it for you. Do join us, together we can make a difference! What is ELSA? An ELSA in a school is an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant. There is a recognised ELSA training course aimed specifically at Teaching Assistants in schools. Examples of things covered on the course are social skills, emotions, bereavement, social stories and therapeutic stories, anger management, self-esteem, counselling skills such as solution focus and friendship. To find out more about this course, contact the Educational Psychologists in your LEA and ask them if they are running one, if not ask them if it is possible for the future. Also check out neighbouring LEAs, they will sometimes take people out of their area to make up numbers. Yoga is far more than a work-out, it is a way of life and a journey of self-discovery. Whether in a busy class or in a private lesson, Kerrie's aim is to enable everyone to feel the practice is just perfect for them in that moment.......leaving students feeling amazing! MEET KERRIE Hello! I believe in living a life full of joy, laughter, gratitude, and free of judgement. These feelings guide my teaching and practice, which is focused on nurturing students to help them better connect to themselves and to bring about a sense of balance and peace. I have been practicing meditation since a young girl taught by my mother and later as an adult practicing yoga asana too, with many brilliant teachers. My initial Hatha Yoga teacher training (200 hours) was with Daizan Roshi, a Zen Master and monk in the rigorous Rinzai tradition of Zen. He studied with the forefather of Ashtanga Yoga, Sri Pattabhi Jois in India. This Zen focus means mindfulness is at the heart of my practice, developing focus, awareness and suppleness on all levels. Training was immersive; away from modern life and the outside world. Starting each day at sunrise and finishing after dark, it was intense, inspirational and totally life changing. Training covered alignment, asana, meditation, breath-work, anatomy, philosophy and Zen. My passion for sharing yoga has led to further training in pregnancy and baby yoga (85 hours), restorative Yoga Nidra (40 hours) and Yin Yoga (130 hours; trained with the amazing Bernie Clark!). Most recently I have become certified to work in the areas of therapeutic yoga for cancer care, aligned to the British Society of Integrative Oncology and have also taken part in 'strong throughout menopause' education. Additionally, I have completed advanced training, over a number of years this included the art of sequencing, of adjustments and the subtle body including; Chakras, Bandhas and Prana (500 hours). I also have over 3000 hours teaching experience and am registered with the professional governing body, Yoga Alliance, as a senior designated experienced teacher. I have also had the privilege of staying at Plum Village in France to practice and study Zen and Mindfulness under the teachings of world renowned Zen Master and global peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh. An absolutely incredible experience and such beautiful teachings, that I continue to share with anyone that will listen! My other life passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have spent time exploring India, Japan, Thailand, Borneo, Indonesia, Hawaii, Malaysia, Mexico, Canada, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Europe and many other beautiful places. I bring together and share my experiences of yoga from those places too.

My earliest memories of doing yoga are with my mother as a child. I was brought up with an awareness of wellbeing, physical fitness and nutrition and I had a very sporty childhood. After a career in modelling and working in events where the pressure to be thin was high, I refused to diet and instead used physical exercise and nutrition to keep myself in shape for work. My interest in exercise and healthy eating led me to pursue a career as a Personal Trainer which I did for a good few years. I loved this work but didn’t feel it always gave me the opportunity to work with a person holistically. Clients often neglected their mental health and did not make stretching a priority which I believed to be so important for overall body health so I embarked upon some yoga qualifications and my journey as a yoga teacher began. I knew this to be my future work so after a short break to have my children, I took a 200 hour teacher training in Vinyasa Flow with the well renowned Claire Missingham. I have been teaching ever since. I took on our beautiful studio in November 2018 and I feel very lucky to call it my place of work and do what I do each day. Life is busy and sometimes stressful and demanding. It can be easy to neglect our wellbeing. Practices like yoga, breathwork and meditation help guide us towards strategies to help manage our lives and take better care of ourselves. I believe that yoga is for everyone and that you should be able to practice in a way that compliments your body and your needs. Some like to practice slow and some like to be more dynamic, some need a practice that is kind to an injury or an ailment/illness. Some are beginners and some have been practicing for years. At Ener-G Yoga studio we really try to offer a large range of classes that help people to find the type of yoga that works for them. From Breathwork and Meditation classes to Vinyasa Flow and Aerial Yoga classes, you should be able to find a class that inspires you. We look forward to welcoming you.

This is my philosophy. There have been times when I might have said yes too quickly but equally, no-one lives forever.. This is why I decided to go for my Yoga teacher training. A passion to learn and to teach. Following a trip to Thailand I got back to my desk in Edinburgh and thought no! No more... And so I did it, and I want to share my journey and musings. MY YOGA JOURNEY I started ballet at a really young age of 2 and fell in love with being free to move and letting my imagination run wild. Often I was found looking at my mum's Iyengar Yoga book and imitating the yoga images over and over. This connection with movement has never left me. Inspired, I studied Performing Arts specialising in Contemporary Dance at De Montfort University, Bedford, and continued to study Community Education at Edinburgh University where I specialised in Community Arts and Youth Work. I found my way to Yoga after going to a gym class during a stressful period of work where I tried Power Yoga. My coordination at first was terrible and I was struggling to keep up with the class but still really enjoyed attending. I then decided to do a beginner class to see if that could help my coordination and balance. At this point Yoga was still a purely physical practice to me. It was not until several years later that I went on a trip to India where I travelled to Kerala and Goa and really started to be drawn to the spiritual and meditative side of Yoga. I got up as early as 6am to do Yoga practice and discovered Ashtanga Yoga. I was hooked. I liked how the physical benefits improved my health and was especially drawn to the chanting and the wonderful philosophy of Yoga. Two years of regular yoga practice later, after attending a Yoga retreat in Granada and a trip to Thailand, I took the leap and signed up to a Yoga teacher training course. This course would become what I felt to be a challenge and reward at the same time, learning and memorising sancript and Yoga philosophy, finding self acceptance and realising that it is ok if you cannot do every single yoga pose. This course has given me real confidence to teach yoga in the community and share this feeling of excitement. YOGA FOR KIDS My style of kids Yoga classes is drawn to delivering fun and creative yoga sessions. Yoga journeys are a vital part of these classes, where kids can nourish their creativity using movement in their body to tell a story while breath work helps the kids feel more calm. Having completed my Kids Yoga Teacher training with Rainbow Kids Yoga in London, I quickly realised how passionate I am about working with kids of all ages to help them reach their full potential. YOGA FOR ADULTS My style of classes is drawn to delivering dynamic sequences with focus on flow and restorative styles of yoga where students can focus on deep relaxation and connection of movement with breath. I love sharing that inner work with others and for them to leave feeling happier at ease and with a smile. I strongly believe that everyone can do yoga in the right supportive environment. I am a registered RYT-200 Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance. Having completed my training at Meadowlark Yoga Edinburgh in 2015 my style of yoga is distinctively Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow influenced. BABY MASSAGE My baby massage courses are about providing quality time between parent and baby, relaxing and enjoying special time together. Parent and baby are introduced to baby massage, loving touch, gentle stretches and songs. I work with you to promote confidence, help you learn how to communicate with your baby and understand their cues of responsiveness in a nurturing and stress free environment.I am a qualified Baby Massage Instructor, having completed my training with the Scottish School of Child and Baby Massage and an accredited Massage Therapist with the Scottish School of Massage where I obtained Diplomas in both, Sport and Remedial Massage as well as Indian Head Massage. PREGNANCY YOGA As a Pregnancy Yoga teacher I am extremely passionate about the holistic mind and body benefits yoga can bring to support women through birth and after. I believe yoga is for everyone and is a great support to help mums to de-stress, connect with others, share our journeys and become part of a community. Pregnancy Yoga classes are a fantastic way to nourish our bodies and physically and emotionally improve our health and wellbeing. I am currently running weekly classes in Pregnancy Yoga where I offer a relaxed and calming space for women to practise and provide practical tools to support women during their pregnancy and birth. MUM & BABY YOGA My style of Post natal Mum & Baby Yoga classes is focused on supporting women after birth. It is a great way to nourish our bodies physically and emotionally, as well as improving health and well being. I especially focuses on breath awareness, building strength and flexibility and creating a safe space for women to bond with their baby. I am currently running weekly classes in Mum & Baby Yoga where I offer a relaxed and calming space for women to practice yoga with their baby and supportive space for women to meet together and share experiences.

The five-story structure was designed by KMD Architects with the goal of creating a healing environment. The exterior of the building, veneered in brick and wood resin materials, was designed to be responsive to the surrounding neighborhood, and the construction followed sustainable building practices that received LEED Silver certification from the United States Green Building Council. The interior space of the Osher Center incorporates nature, natural light and fresh air, simply organized spaces, and pleasant colors and textures. Spaces are intimate and friendly and promote relaxation. The Osher Center also includes features not typically found in conventional medical clinics or academic institutions, such as large group rooms for yoga and meditation instruction, the Takahashi Japanese Healing Garden, and treatment rooms for acupuncture, massage therapy, biofeedback, and mind-body awareness. Our facility contributes to the well-being of its staff and faculty occupants and supports the healing process of patients.

Merseyside Polonia is the most recognised Polish not for profit organisation in the Northwest of England. It was established in 2009 as a charitable organisation. The organisation is based in Liverpool but the project and events often involve communities from other boroughs on both sides of the River Mersey. In the past few years, Merseyside Polonia has built up strong links with local authorities and services, arts and community organisations as well as other institutions and founders: among them Liverpool City Council, Polish Cultural Insititute in London or BBC Children in Need. The organisation was registered on 9th of June 2009 and is governed by a Board of Trustees. Merseyside Polonia governing documents are Memorandum and Articles of Association. Main objects of the organisation are: to raise awareness of the Polish Community and culture among the local community to support community development of Polish and other communities to build community cohesion by increasing understanding between communities representing different cultural backgrounds Areas of work ARTS Polish names such as Polanski, Chopin or Lem are well known worldwide.
