WHAT THE COURSE IS ABOUT:
This is a comprehensive course on mark making for Textiles developed by textile artist NICKY SIMPSON. This course works through a series of themes, and links the mark making techniques to these themes as well as how to create and use primary. 
There are several video tutorials for each theme as well as step-by-step guides, exemplar student sketchbooks and artists that aid in the mark making process. Nicky’s aim is show how easily accessible mark making can be for every level of student and how it can be delivered in a fun and engaging way, creating independent learners.




WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR:
This course is aimed at anyone interested in learning a large variety of exciting and fun textile mark making skills. These are methods that can be easily accessed by all students.
Especially useful for Textile and Art teachers and trainers who are either new to teaching GCSE/A Level Art & Design, or those who want to refresh their knowledge and add to their resources.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

YOUR COURSE DEVELOPER: 
This course has been developed by NICKY SIMPSON who has developed many face-to-face and online courses, as well as delivering TSC workshops in schools.

NICKY SIMPSON  BA(Hons) Textiles Design: Specialising in print.

Nicky is a contemporary textiles artist, who has 12 years teaching experience, heading up Fashion & Textiles at a School in Kent. She has taught many different specifications from Art & Design Textiles at GCSE and A Level, Design and Technology at GCSE and A Level and BTEC Level 3 Fashion. Her last set of grades were: A Level 100% A-A*; GCSE 70% A-A* (100% A*-B). She has also taught Graphics, Food and Art at KS3.
Nicky previously enjoyed a successful career as a senior director of a fashion print agency in the heart of London. She designed original prints as well as creating and selling seasonal fashion print collections for the international market. 
Since 2016 Nicky has been a textile consultant, focusing on developing and leading the delivery of both online and face-to-face workshops for the Textile Skills Centre, including pattern development. Nicky has mentored many graduate trainees and is a volunteer mentor through the TSC mentorship programme.
She has delivered workshops at the Festival of Quilts, Knitting & Stitching show, The Stitch Festival and National trust. Nicky volunteers as an art therapist in her spare time. Her own work is creating arts and craft mostly with a heat press, featuring both machine and hand embroidery. Much of her work incorporates the flora found naturally in our beautiful English countryside.

<p>Explore the world of Zenjangle Doodling with Alison on her online course. &nbsp;Zenjangle doodling is easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun and it allows you the freedom to create&nbsp; beautiful&nbsp; images by drawing structured patterns that are a combination of dots, lines, and simple curves. These simple stokes&nbsp; create beautiful patterns and all you need is a pen and a piece of paper to have a go. You don't need to think about what a Zenjangle is going to look like to draw it, you just need to follow the simple steps, there is no right or wrong way to Zenjangle and every mark made is meant to be, if you feel you have made a mistake use them as inspiration to create your own version of the patterns. You don't need to think about what a Zenjangle is going to look like to draw it, you just need to follow the simple steps, there is no right or wrong way to Zenjangle and every mark made is meant to be, if you feel you have made a mistake use them as inspiration to create your own version of the patterns. In Zenjangling every mark made is your own personal take on making the patterns and traditional it made by using fine liners and not pencil so there is no rubbing out.
Zenjangling is like doodling it has no meaning to it, all your focus is on the induvial stokes you are making to make up your beautiful Zenjangle piece of art.
If you like the sound of that then the course is perfect for you and comes with everything you need to get started from pens and paper to special tools like stencils which are used in the course. The course is made up of 16 modules, with which you will learn the 16 Zenjangle patterns and then how to create your own artwork using the activities in each of the modules. Throughout the 16 modules you will learn the benefits to this style of doodling, learn how to use the patterns in different templates, how to make tessellation and mandalas to take your doodling further to get your creating juices flowing. Once you start you will find that you cannot stop creating new patterns, it is such a great way to relax and unwind.
