A course of 6 weekly sessions for beginners. If you&rsquo;ve never touched clay or have no experience since those little creations at school (the one your mum still treasures!) but you&rsquo;re intrigued by all the creations you see at cute makers markets or avidly watching the Great Pottery Throw Down! Our hand building classes guide you through the foundation skills of slab building, coiling and pinch pots. You will also investigate various techniques for surface decoration and basic glazing. Your work from each class will be fired and a collection of completed pieces will be glaze fired and ready to collect 3-4 weeks after your last class.&nbsp;These classes will run on a rolling basis, every Tuesday evening from 7-9.30pm. If you feel you&rsquo;d love to continue your pottery journey but would like to refine your Beginner&rsquo;s skills before stepping onto the next level we rotate the making projects every 6 weeks. So if you take the following 6 weeks classes after your first we will rotate the projects and you get the opportunity to create a different collection of work.&nbsp;

Bespoke painting and sculpture workshops can be arranged or Francesca can travel locally to guide you in your own studios or locations.There are some fabulous painting and sketching locations for plein-air painting around the old Cortijo which is situated 750 metres high in the olive groves. With mountain views and a variety of plants and trees, which include oranges, lemons, pomegranates, figs and grapes. The eco-swimming pool is also a great place to sketch and paint with water lilies, iris, marginal plants and a small waterfall.Locations locally include the Watermill walk at Algarinejo, the lake at Iznajar, any of the local towns and of course further afield in Granada, Cordoba and Malaga.Francesca Wyllie is a very experienced tutor and has led many workshops with groups and one-to-one classes. No previous experience is necessary and tuition can cater for all levels. Courses are a minimum of 1 1/2 hours and are normally held on weekends.There will be a discount applied for group bookings fees of over 2 people of 20% and of 50% for over 4 people.Sketching&nbsp;&ndash; you will receive a free sketchbook, pencils and refreshments &ndash; cost &euro;30 per hour. Watercolours, Oils and Acrylics&nbsp;painting including Plein Air painting in the near vicinity will be &euro;30 per hour for watercolours and &euro;35 per hour for Oils and Acrylics and will include one board or watercolour sheet, plus use of materials and brushes. You are also welcome to bring your own materials too. Digital Painting&nbsp;&ndash; You may need to pre-install the Artrage app on an IPad or tablet prior to the workshop. Francesca can guide you with this. The Artrage app is normally available for under &euro;5 for IPad. Francesca Wyllie (BA Hons Fine Art) has an amazing north-facing art studio at El Retiro in Andalucia, which was purpose-built to accommodate painting groups. Bespoke painting and sculpture workshops can be arranged or Francesca can travel locally to guide you in your own studios or locations.
There are some fabulous painting and sketching locations for plein-air painting around the old Cortijo which is situated 750 metres high in the olive groves. With mountain views and a variety of plants and trees, which include oranges, lemons, pomegranates, figs and grapes. The eco-swimming pool is also a great place to sketch and paint with water lilies, iris, marginal plants and a small waterfall.
Locations locally include the Watermill walk at Algarinejo, the lake at Iznajar, any of the local towns and of course further afield in Granada, Cordoba and Malaga.
Francesca Wyllie is a very experienced tutor and has led many workshops with groups and one-to-one classes. No previous experience is necessary and tuition can cater for all levels. Just come with a positive outlook!
Unlocking creative potential is her speciality and some workshops will be a special blend of loosening up artistic techniques, mindfulness and yoga to bring a holistic approach to the workshops. This will break down any barriers, fears, or self-doubt you may have, to release your creative potential and bring back a playful love for creating art.

Art Tuition Fees:
Painting tuition starts at €30 per hour per person and includes some materials and refreshments.
Courses are a minimum of 1 1/2 hours and are normally held on weekends.
There will be a discount applied for group bookings fees of over 2 people of 20% and of 50% for over 4 people.
Sketching – you will receive a free sketchbook, pencils and refreshments – cost €30 per hour.
Watercolours, Oils and Acrylics painting including Plein Air painting in the near vicinity will be €30 per hour for watercolours and €35 per hour for Oils and Acrylics and will include one board or watercolour sheet, plus use of materials and brushes.
You are also welcome to bring your own materials too.
Digital Painting – You may need to pre-install the Artrage app on an IPad or tablet prior to the workshop. Francesca can guide you with this. The Artrage app is normally available for under €5 for IPad. Workshops are charged at €30 per hour
Life Drawing for groups with a minimum of 6 people. Price on application.
All workshops will usually include helpful pdf guides for tips on materials and techniques.
Other venues:
Do you require a workshop to be held in a specific location or in your own home? This can all be arranged but may involve extra fees to cover travel time and fuel costs. This will all be agreed with you in advance.
Francesca loves to paint on location and has held many painting and Ipad painting workshops. She is also available for artists’ talks.
Accessibility – The studio does have a wheelchair-accessible ramp though some rooms do have steps up to them. Please discuss your needs prior to your visit using the Contact form and we will try to accommodate you.
Should you wish Francesca to travel to you this can be a good solution. We will look for the most suitable venue for you and do not wish to place any barriers to you unleashing your creative potential.

Training kits mirror the same equipment and supplies used in the classroom and both include detailed video instructions, allowing you to continue to practice and "hone" your skills after you have completed your practical training.

She loves all fantasy, but favours richly imagined, complex worlds with a history to discover and a future to protect. Worldbuilding is one of her favourite aspects of this genre and she is always looking for a new, dense world with series potential. Think Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere or the Marvel Cinematic Universe – the bigger the better! 

Maddy also likes character-driven fantasy with a diverse cast to root for (or root against) and she wants to see a range of different relationships depicted authentically. She particularly like epics that dip into big, universal themes such as grief, climate change, or war and which ask impossible questions in the vein of R.F. Kuang or N.K. Jemisin. She is also excited by authors that play with form and language in a fantasy setting.

In YA, she is looking for much the same as in an adult fantasy, but with younger protagonists and a closer focus on relationships. She wants to see the tropes she knows and loves in new and exciting forms and her favourite YA books often centre around belonging and becoming. She likes a dash of romance in everything, because she is sentimental that way, but it’s particularly important in the YA space.

Sci-fi is a big passion of hers, especially when it comes with a strong hook. She is a huge fan of Becky Chamber’s The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet and Michaiah Johnson’s The Space Between Worlds. She likes space as a metaphor, and would love something that explores different alien species. Please send her your space operas and sci-fi romances which combine space, magic and mayhem!

In fantasy middle grade, she favours whimsy and animal companions; she would love to follow a group of kids through magic school. She tends to look for plenty of humour with a strong friendship at the centre, and she wants middle grade stories which engage with the concerns of children growing up as well as offering an all-important escape (preferably on a dragon/unicorn’s back).

She is also looking for children’s non-fiction for all ages. In this space, she wants something as creative as it is informative, and thinks diverse voices are increasingly important.

Maddy would like you to submit a covering letter, one page synopsis and the first three chapters (Max 5000 words) of your completed manuscript in a single word document.
