DATE: Friday 2nd February TIME: 4pm (meeting at school reception) BOOKING DEADLINE: Noon on 19th January On Friday 2nd February, we will have a school visit to the British Museum, the first of several extra-curricular trips we are looking to arrange in the coming terms. Whilst some of these trips will have a focus on Film & Television, others will be about other general interests, giving you a chance to get to know London and its rich cultural offerings. This trip to the British Museum will include a tour of various significant relics from across the world and human history, organised and led by Conrad, our Student Services Officer. Ideal for both first-timers and those that have been before and want to learn a bit more. We will meet in the School Reception at 3:50pm that day and then head over together at 4 o'clock. It is direct on the Northern Line and then a short walk to the museum. Once inside you are free to take the tour we have organised or explore on your own should you wish. Once the tour is complete people are welcome to stick around and explore more, have relaxed drinks in a nearby pub or head home, whatever you prefer. ONE TICKET PER PERSON, PLEASE DO NOT BOOK MORE THAN ONCE ONTO THIS EVENT. ONLY BOOK IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON ATTENDING. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO MAKE IT, PLEASE LET US KNOW. This is a FREE TRIP that you will not need to pay for but must be booked in advance. There is a limit of 15 tickets in total for the tour and it will be first come, first served. You will not be able to join the tour if you do not have a pre-booked ticket. The deadline to book onto this tour is midday on the 19th January.
DATE: 26th March TIME: 4pm LOCATION:Studio A We are pleased to welcome Film Buddy back for an exclusive TELEVISION SCREENWRITING mentoring session, where we will feature two wonderful guest speakers and mentors: CALEB RANSON (Around the World in 80 Days, Midsomer Murders) and JAKE RIDDELL (Waterloo Road, Young Dracula, Grantchester, Death in Paradise). They will be discussing various aspects of TV Screenwriting, including what to include in your pilot and how best to pitch your series idea. Be sure to book on if you are interested and want to learn more about professional screenwriting.
DATE: Monday 15th July TIME: 12:30pm LOCATION: Studio A We will be hosting a meeting to see how many students would be interested in a potential school trip to the Berlin International Film (Berlinale) festival next year, in Spring 2025. Organised by Mark de Valk and Conrad Pollock, this trip will offer you the chance to get to the heart of both the European Film Industry and one of the world's coolest, most vibrant cities. The Berlinale is one of the most prestigious film festivals active today, and you'll be exposed to new releases from around the world, make international connections and get to explore a European capital that's rich in history and culture. Currently we are looking at 5 days and 4 nights overall, with group travel and accommodation together. If you are interested, please join us for this meeting. This trip is open to all CFS students on all courses, and booking will likely take place in Autumn term. Please note, the trip's viability is subject to a minimum number of sign-ups (amount tbc).

DATE: 15th July TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A BAFTA winners Chris Wilder and Daisy Jacobs are a pair of writer/directors who will be coming in to showcase and discuss their short films, as well as their experiences directing animation and their progress after finishing film school 10 years ago. If you have any interest in animation, directing, screenwriting or just what you can expect after graduation, these are the perfect guests to come along and meet. DATE: Thursday 9th May TIME: 4:30pm LOCATION: Studio A Following a very successful February mixer event, we are pleased to invite Point Blank Music School back in the Summer Term for an official Pitch Evening. The focus will be for final term CFS students to pitch their graduation film ideas to collaborate with music students from Point Blank. Pitching students should think about what style of music they are looking for and the style that would compliment their overall vision. We hope to have a good turnout and welcome back our friends at Point Blank Music School. Please be sure to book in advance if you want to come along to this event.
DATE: 15th February TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Classroom 2 St John Ambulance have kindly agreed to provide a First Aid Safety Information workshop to any interested Central Film School students. Areas of focus will include how to be safe on a night out, and also how to handle injuries specific to film sets (burns, electrocution, etc.) This is fantastic information to have both for your professional development and personal life. You never know when you may one day need to call upon what you've learnt. Be sure to book in advance and email academics@centralfilmschool.com if there are any issues or questions.

Date: Wednesday 11th October Time: 4pm Location: Studio A - Landor Road Events Details: Our 'QUEER COMING-OF-AGE' season continues with a father-son road trip story exploring body dysmorphia and familial acceptance; 2020's indie hit Cowboys. Steve Zahn and Sasha Knight star as Troy and Joe, a father and transgender son who head off into the Montana wilderness to escape Joe's traditionalist mother, played by Jillian Bell. Detective Faith Erickson is hot on their tail, as the father (suffering from bipolar disorder and a drinking problem) teaches his son to shoot guns, live off the land and become the man he wants to be. A powerful but gentle film about the freedom children are afforded in choosing who they are. DATE: 20th March TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A Central Film School are delighted to invite Alexis Watkins to speak to our student body about the importance of mental wellbeing and the keys to mental safeguarding for both yourself and other students. Alexis has professional experience in the following roles: - Mental Health Practitioner & Data Analyst for BWW Mind - Chair of Central & North West London (CNWL) NHS Mental Health Ambassador Group - Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees for the WïSH Centre - National Lived Experience Partner for NHS England She has filmed with the CNWL and was recently part of a team nominated at the Health Service Journal awards for Reducing Healthcare Inequalities for Children and Young People award. She has also been a guest-speaker at The Listening Place, a charity focused on helping those with suicidal thoughts. She will be joining us to specifically discuss topics of isolation, substance abuse and suicidal ideation. Even if you are fortunate enough not to be struggling with your mental health currently, it is always worth being aware of the signs and knowing how to help others, so please consider coming along to this event if you feel comfortable doing so.
