The number of young people with mental health problems is rising and is a concern for many parents. At Thinking-Together our approach is preventative. Your relationship with your pre-teen/teen is crucial in supporting their self-esteem and mental health. In our experience, a lack of knowledge and understanding from parents/guardians can lead to hostile/strained relationships which contributes to young people’s poor mental health such as lack of confidence, low mood and anxiety. During the pre-teen/teen years your children change. They spend more time away from you, they are more secretive and their behaviour becomes more erratic. It can be hard to know what is “typical teenager” behaviour and when to be concerned about your child.

Who Can a Neurodevelopment Program Help? When I tell people that I am a neurodevelopment therapist, this is the most common question, and if you are looking at this website, the chances are you are looking for help for yourself or you child and most of all you want to know if you are in the right place. So simply put, neurodevelopment therapy is a way of giving the brain and neurological system a second chance at development. When some of the developmental stages are missed, primitive reflexes don't get a chance to develop properly or develop and remain active when they should have gone away. A reflex is an action that the body has no conscious control over, such as closing your eyes when you sneeze. We are most familiar with the moro reflex in babies, when they startle and fling their arms wide, then cling and cry. Reflex movements, which start from 5 weeks in utero, build the nervous system, allow the brain and body to organise and develop so that eventually you can stand, move, think and function with ease. When these processes don't develop as they should then problems can develop such as poor focus, balance, impulse control, anxiety, social interaction, reading and writing, sensory processing and other issues. Children then get labelled and lose their confidence. In many cases, all that is required is a reorganisation of the neurological system. A neurodevelopment programme can be used as a stand alone therapy or can be used alongside any other programme or treatment.

She had witnessed how exams and revision had caused her children stress and anxiety, resulting in them losing their love of learning. As a family of diverse heritage Reedahalso hoped for a more inclusive curriculum both in terms of content and delivery. In winter 2018, whilst preparing her son for 11+, Reedah came across Fortnite which her sons during revision breaks. She noticed how the 3D open world, multi-player, action game appealed to children across the world. She imagined 3D open world, educational game, including diverse characters and stories, fully aligned with the UK national curriculum and entrance exams, enabling learning through play. After extensive but fruitless research for a pre-existing educational mobile games app aligned with the UK national curriculum, Reedahfounded BrainsparkGames (previosulyXplorealms). Her vision was to create a 3D open world, celebrating diverse characters, using awesome immersive technology to engage wider audiences as well as BAME, vulnerable and neurodiverse. She researched the twenty-first century skills movement and flip schools and held workshops and interviewed children, parents and teachers to ensure a user-led product. Brainsparkwas founded in in November 2019 and is on a mission to revolutionise the way children learn in every corner of the world!
