The LAA operates a strict compliance regime when it comes to auditing crime lower bills, and mistakes can often result in a Contract Notice, corrective action, and further follow-up activity within 6 months. This course will take you through the various aspects of crime lower billing, with discussions on topics such as what is and is not claimable; how you apply series of offences guidance; what evidence is required to claim a trial fee when a matter is discontinued; how do the LAA audit travel and other disbursement claims (including the rules when instructing an agent); and what evidence must be present on files to avoid any issues on audit. Key aspects of the Crime Contract, Criminal Bills Assessment Manual and Codes Guidance will be included, along with a discussion of common errors that are made; and how to claim non-standard and escape fee matters. Target Audience This online course is aimed at anyone involved in billing Legal Aid Police Station and Magistrates Court matters or managing an LAA Crime Contract. In his 17 years at the LAA, he worked in the audit team as both auditor and manager and was a Contract Manager for several years. If you cancel less than a week from the training delivery date we wont be able to refund. There are no refunds for staff who do not turn up on the day of the training course. Participants will learn to recognise the signs of suicidal ideation, confidently engage in supportive conversations, and create practical suicide-safety plans as part of a first aid approach.
The Emergency Lighting BS 5266 one day course is based upon BS5266:1 (including latest amendments), BS5266:7 and BS5266:8. Emergency lighting is essential for the safety of building occupants. It is vital that the emergency lighting automatically operates in the event of normal lighting failure. The illumination levels and period of time the illumination can be sustained should be sufficient to allow the building occupants to evacuate safely and locate both fire alarm, fire fighting and first aid equipment. The Emergency Lighting BS 5266 course provides the necessary information to designate emergency escape routes and design and commission an emergency lighting scheme to BS 5266. The morning of the Emergency Lighting BS 5266 course is spent reading through and interpreting the relevant parts of BS 5266. The afternoon takes the form of a practical workshop where a system is designed and the participant is then introduced to the practical issues of commissioning, inspection and testing, certification and reporting.

This is a highly interactive and emotionally engaging learning experience. Pre-training requirement No previous experience or training is necessary. Participants will be asked to self-reflect and empathise with a person having thoughts of suicide. There is no expectation on participants to share personal experiences. Who should attend? Multi-sector managers and practitioners including health, housing, social care, education, criminal justice, call centre operators, private, voluntary and public sector workers and community groups or members. Accreditation Participants can choose to register for the City and Guilds accredited unit of learning for an additional fee of £85 per person. This involves completion of a written assignment.
