11th February Eli Keren #Agent121. Looking for: NON-FICTION

5.0(1)

By I Am In Print

LOOKING FOR: NON-FICTION Eli Keren started his publishing career at Curtis Brown before joining United Agents as an assistant in 2016. In 2021 he became an associate literary agent, representing a growing list of clients across fiction and non-fiction, actively seeking books that are going to make a positive impact in the world in some way, big or small. His role as an agent at Curious Minds Literary Agency began in 2024. Before working in books, Eli was a research scientist designing and synthesising novel drugs (white coat and everything), and science books remain a particular passion of his. In 2022 he wrote and taught a HOW TO WRITE A PROPOSAL course, and in 2023 was elected treasurer of the Association of Authors’ Agents, and in 2024 he judged the inaugural Bloomsbury Academic Writing Fellowship. Eli specialises in helping academics, scientists and researchers to bring their area of expertise to the mass-market in authoritative, ideas-led books in the fields of smart science and current affairs. He is particularly interested in popular science and cultural history, as well as issues-led books and social justice. Eli only occasionally works with memoir.  He is very keen to see non-fiction LGBTQ+ themed books. He enjoys books written by writers who are obsessed with a niche subject and skilled enough communicators to make others fall in love with their subject too. Ultimately he wants to find books that are going to change the world for the better.  Eli would like you to submit a covering letter, 1 -2 page synopsis and the first 5,000 words of your completed manuscript in a single word document. (In addition to the paid sessions, Eli is kindly offering one free session for low income/under-represented writers. Please email agent121@iaminprint.co.uk to apply, outlining your case for this option which is offered at the discretion of I Am In Print).  By booking you understand you need to conduct an internet connection test with I Am In Print prior to the event. You also agree to email your material in one document to reach I Am In Print by the stated submission deadline and note that I Am In Print take no responsibility for the advice received during your agent meeting. 15th January Ciara McEllin #Agent121. Looking for: ADULT FICTION / NON-FICTION

5.0(1)

By I Am In Print

LOOKING FOR: ADULT FICTION / NON-FICTION Ciara McEllin is building her list as a Junior Agent at Watson Little. She reads widely across book club, upmarket and literary fiction. Within these areas, she is drawn to novels that examine family and relationship dynamics, sexuality, identity, and vulnerability. Ciara is keen to hear from writers who take a fresh approach to these themes, whether that be a new perspective on a traditional narrative or a focus on characters and voices that remain underrepresented: think Kairos by Jenny Erpenbeck, Asymmetry by Lisa Halliday or Monkey Grip by Helen Garner. She will always want to read beautifully written novels with a strong sense of place, tangible characters and an essence that stays with you – living deep in your bones – long after you’ve finished reading. Recent reads Ciara has enjoyed include: Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry, Enter Ghost by Isabella Hammad, Close to Home by Michael Magee, Siblings by Brigitte Reimann, Trespasses by Louise Kennedy, The Idiot by Elif Batuman, Highway Blue by Ailsa McFarlane and My Phantoms by Gwendoline Riley. At the moment Ciara is particularly eager to see: - Sexy, sensual and seductive stories that explore desire and sexual boundaries not often represented in literature such as Little Rabbit by Alyssa Songsiridej, Cleanness by Garth Greenwell and Mrs. S by K Patrick - An atmospheric and existential thriller in the vein of Intimacies by Katie Kitamura, In The Cut by Susanna Moore and Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead by Olga Tokarczuk - An intoxicating coming of-age-tale that captures the aliveness, intelligence and wildness of girlhood like Brutes by Dizz Tate, The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides and The Girls by Emma Cline - Books that are joyful or brutal, particularly those that are both, similar to Headshot by Rita Bullwinkel, Kick the Latch by Kathryn Scanlan and Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan - Stories exploring an Australia or Ireland that is rarely seen in literature for example A Loving, Faithful Animal by Josephine Rowe and Wild Houses by Colin Barrett In non-fiction, Ciara enjoys narrative, memoir and essay collections. She is interested in hearing from experts, academics, critics and journalists writing about society, culture and food, and excited by writers seeking to revise, reshape or revolutionise the conversation in their area of expertise. Some of her favourite non-fiction titles include How To Survive A Plague by David France, The Transgender Issue by Shon Faye, the Living Autobiography Series by Deborah Levy, Last Witnesses: Unchildlike Stories by Svetlana Alexievich, King Kong Theory by Virginie Despentes; and she particularly enjoys the work of M.F.K Fisher, Annie Ernaux, Natalia Ginsburg and Helen Garner. Ciara is not looking for Children’s, YA or Fantasy. Ciara would like you to submit a covering letter, 1 -2 page synopsis and the first 5,000 words of your completed manuscript in a single word document. (In addition to the paid sessions, Ciara is kindly offering one free session for low income/under-represented writers. Please email agent121@iaminprint.co.uk to apply, outlining your case for this option which is offered at the discretion of I Am In Print).  By booking you understand you need to conduct an internet connection test with I Am In Print prior to the event. Public Health And Epidemiology Course

3.5(2)

By Elearncollege

Description Public Health And Epidemiology Diploma The scientific practice of epidemiology enables us to have a good understanding of public health and to make necessary changes to improvise it. Its approaches serve as the foundation for medical research, investigating illness aetiology and evaluating interventions aimed at disease prevention or control. Elearn college's Public Health And Epidemiology diploma course will provide future epidemiologists with the essential fundamental understanding and a wide array of data science and statistical abilities necessary to address modern healthcare challenges. The recent pandemic from Wuhan has focused a spotlight on the field of epidemiology and heightened awareness of its relevance. The increased emphasis on infectious illnesses and worldwide pandemic control has led to employment development, professional possibilities, and recognition of an epidemiologist's critical role in resolving future global crises. If you're interested in honing your epidemiology abilities, this engaging and demanding Public Health And Epidemiology diploma course is meant for you. It does not require a background in epidemiology, but you must have a passion. Your previous experience isn't also a matter of concern. You may wish to further your career in academics, business, or other health-related contexts. Or even consider it if you want to build epidemiological competence. The abilities acquired via our Public Health And Epidemiology course are necessary for your future endeavours in most forms of health science and research, as they will bring leverage for you. Our Public Health And Epidemiology diploma course emphasises decision-making, critical reasoning, and assessment skills, which contribute to developing research abilities and intellectual and personal autonomy. Our Public Health And Epidemiology diploma course's primary objective is to build your capacity to conceptualise and conduct epidemiological research. In simple terms, Epidemiology is defined as the study of various diseases and their trends and factors among specified groups of people. It is an essential aspect of healthcare services, influencing policy and practice by recognising the major disease risk factors and preventative healthcare priorities. Epidemiologists assist in designing studies, collecting and statistically analysing the data, and revising interpretations and distribution of findings. Epidemiology has aided in developing data for clinical trials, public health investigations, and, to an extent, medical science research. The key aspects of the epidemiology study are: The causation of diseases. The transmission of diseases. An outbreak investigation of diseases. Surveillance of diseases. In addition, environmental epidemiology, occupational epidemiology, forensic epidemiology, biomonitoring, screening, and comparative studies based on the results of treatments are parts of our Public Health And Epidemiology diploma course. For better results, epidemiologists depend on other branches of science to deeply understand the disease and its various aspects. In addition, epidemiologists rely on social sciences to understand the social structure and characteristics of the study area. Epidemiology is the foundational field of study for public health practice, medical research, and health care assessments. People involved in developing or analysing epidemiological research and programme assessment must understand the fundamental concepts and techniques. Epidemiological approaches also have a role in quantifying the magnitude and character of health issues, elucidating the origin of various pandemics or epidemics, and assessing the effectiveness of disease treatments. Our Public Health And Epidemiology diploma course prepares research institutes, academic departments, and health services workers to practise epidemiology. They are appropriate for people interested in pursuing careers in epidemiology studies, academics working in other fields of health, and other health-related professionals. Our Public Health And Epidemiology diploma course is also beneficial for those who require a basic understanding of epidemiology, like medical journalists, research scholars, and others working in related areas with various government departments and businesses.  What you will learn   1:Introducing epidemiology  2:Measuring disease and health  3:Identifying the causes  4:Establishing the causes  5:Controlling a disease  6:Following up  7:Past experiences  8:Mapping disease and health  9:To a healthy life  10:Ethics and politics  Course Outcomes After completing the course, you will receive a diploma certificate and an academic transcript from Elearn college. How Will They Learn to Read and Write?

By Nurturing Neurodiversity

You’ve decided to home educate and are moving away from a schooled approach. Your child is happier but there are niggling worries as their schooled peers are focused on academics. Your child recoils at the very suggestion of a workbook, reading to you, or reciting numbers.  The months and years pass and your child is still making their own choices but the gap between them and their schooled peers is widening. Your child might not be interested in reading yet, and you can't see how maths is being used and developed at all.  The idea that they might ever write an essay for entry into university or sit an exam seems miles away from where they are right now and, without direct teaching, you're not sure how they will ever learn these academic skills. Dr Naomi Fisher, clinical psychologist and home educating parent to two Self Directed Learners, and Heidi Steel, qualified teacher and parent to four always unschooled learners, share their professional and personal experiences of learning without school in this webinar how you're child will learn the academic skills that they need.
