Course information 
The aim of this course is to provide staff with sufficient knowledge to use and maintain abrasive wheel equipment safely, covering:
 • Health and safety legislation overview
 • Hazards and risk control measures associated with Abrasive Wheels
 • PPE 
• Types of abrasive wheel machines and their safe use 
• Resin & vitrified bonded abrasive wheel selection, marking, identification and inspection 
• Correct use, setting, adjustment and inspection of flanges, guards and accessories 
• Pre-use machine safety checks 
• How to mount of abrasive wheels on various equipment including hand angle grinder, saws and bench grinders
 • Set up and safe working of applying an Abrasive Wheel to a grinder
 • Practical safe set up (no live cutting or grinding)
 Entry Requirements 
For learners that require the 'HS&E TESTED Logo' displayed on their card they must have passed the CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment Test within the last 2 years. Good understanding of spoken and written English.

NPORS Abrasive Wheels Awareness (N301A)

With Trump’s victory marking the decline of the U.S.-led postwar order, this course investigates how these tectonic shifts redefine international security. 

Delivered in two parts, it combines rigorous theory with practical insight:

Part One: Master foundational theories—realism (anarchy, power, war), liberalism (order, institutions), and constructivism (human dimensions)—alongside critical lenses like post-Marxist and post-structuralist perspectives.

Part Two: Apply these frameworks to today’s pressing issues through case studies, revealing the multifaceted nature of global security.

Participants will hone sharp analytical skills, learning to research and assess security challenges using academic frameworks and open-source tools. Rachel Neely began her publishing career in 2016 at HarperCollins, before moving to Hachette where she worked as an editor for the next six years, specialising in crime and thrillers along with book club novels and contemporary fiction, most recently as a Commissioning Editor at Orion. 

Rachel joined Mushens Entertainment at the start of 2022 as an Associate Agent, assisting Juliet Mushens with her client list, including multiple Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling authors. Simultaneously she began signing her own clients. In August 2023 she was promoted to Literary Agent and in 2024 achieved Bookseller Rising Star status.

In actively growing her list, Rachel is looking for book-club fiction, dark academia, rom-coms, tragic love stories, crime and thrillers. Please note she is not the right agent for sci-fi, espionage novels, YA or children’s books.

She would love to see a commercial locked-room thriller in the vein of The Midnight Feast, The White Lotus or with shades of Succession; novels about cults such as The Girls; a voice-led serial-killer thriller reminiscent of How to Kill Your Family; compelling dark academia to rival The Secret History; a high-concept but tragic love story that will make her ugly cry in the vein of The Time Traveller’s Wife or One Day; and anything that has an outsider trying to break into the world of the privileged and morally bankrupt.
Besides those above, her favourite novels include The List, The Talented Mr Ripley, The Lovely Bones, Other People’s Clothes, The It Girl, The Girl Before, Notes on an Execution, My Dark Vanessa and My Sister the Serial Killer.

Retake courses for A/S and A2 levels/GCSE
Our retake courses are flexible because we offer one to one tuition and students can join us at any time. One year courses are recommended for students who are looking for considerable grade improvement. Part time and short courses can also be arranged and the Principal will be pleased to advise the most suitable route.
One year A/S and A2 level courses
These courses are designed for students leaving school / college part-way through the sixth form. Where appropriate we may change to a specification which suits them better.
It is also possible, with intensive tuition, to take one or two A2 levels or A/S levels in a year from scratch.
Two year A2 level courses
These courses are designed for students who have not yet tackled A level work. A two year course is recommended for younger students or those who do not wish to take an accelerated course.
Holiday revision courses
These courses are extremely popular with students preparing for A/S, A2 levels and GCSE's. The courses are flexible and can be arranged to suit the particular requirements of the student. Our courses are social and interactive whether delivered online or in-person. Our aim is to introduce and build crafting skills and the basic skills needed for success in the workplace and at home, including self-confidence, problem solving, communicating in a group, basic maths and English. We teach over 45 different paper craft and mixed media techniques. Each course is carefully constructed to help you develop your crafting skills and knowledge.
Crafting and our courses are mindful, taking us away from the day-to-day. Participants have consistently reported improvements in their wellbeing. Anyone who wants to learn new skills can join our programmes. No previous experience of papercrafting or mixed media work is needed. We have delivered courses successfully in Cambridgeshire for 6 1/2 years and have worked with 280 Cambridges residents during this time. 86% of participants state that what we offer has helped to improve their wellbeing. 75% state that it has made a positive difference to their daily lives.

Craft4Smiles C.I.C. 

A standalone 10 week/session course that will introduce you to the basic materials, tools, equipment and techniques used in paper crafting and mixed media work and to Craft4Smiles C.I.C and our tutors.  You will be sent all the materials and equipment needed to complete the course. At the end of each lesson you will have a crafted item to take away to keep or show family and friends. You will be told about the other courses you offer so that you can make an informed choice about further learning.
