Description
If you're new to sewing or just want some tuition to improve your techniques or learn to read and follow a pattern this is the sewing workshop for you!

During the day we will make a pair of ‘Jaimie’ pyjama bottoms or shorts using the Tilly and the buttons pattern worth £18.50 (included in the workshop cost). Let us know if you would prefer to make the male version ‘Joe’.  We will teach you how to choose the right size for you, how to prepare the fabric and pattern to be set up for success.




What you will achieve
Laying and cutting out your fabric and pattern
Sewing the garment and learn about different seam finishes
Finish the day with a completed pair of PJ bottoms

What to bring
You will need 2.5m of lightweight cotton fabric, matching thread and waistband elastic.  We have kits available which you can add to your ticket at the checkout, details of fabric choices are pictured above. 

Please note that this workshop is held in our light and spacious first floor studio at Stitching Kitchen, which is accessible by stairs.

Description

Its time to develop your me made wardrobe and what better garment to include but the Ramona Pencil / Mini Skirt by Tilly and the Buttons. This beginners workshop is also a great first garment as we have time to cover the basic dressmaking skills of measuring, choosing sizes and reading a pattern.

To measure your body to find the best size for you
How to construct the skirt using a sewing machine and iron to press seams
Inserting an invisible zip using an invisible zip foot
Finishing the skirt with a neat hem

About your tutor
Priti loves to sew. Her mum was a seamstress and she loved to watch her work. Priti found time during lockdown to get back into sewing, she teaches in her day job and is blending her skills to run beginner sewing workshops.

Our CITB Online - Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) Refresher course is designed to give attendees a broad reminder of their responsibilities for health and safety on construction sites. Approved and endorsed by the United Kingdom Contractors Group, the SSSTS refresher course is a must for anyone who occupies a supervisory role on UKCG sites and wants to brush up on their knowledge of their legal responsibilities and the latest construction industry regulations.
The SSSTS Refresher course has been created to provide existing supervisors, or those who are just entering into a supervisory role, with in-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and procedures. If a candidate completed a full SSSTS training course up to 5 years ago, they will be required to attend a refresher programme.
Prerequisites
SSSTS certificates are of course valid for up to 5 years, but due to the ever-changing nature of the industry, it is recommended that staff stay up to date by enrolling on a refresher course long before the qualification expires.

Site Supervisor Training Scheme (SSSTS) Refresher

This one-day course is a must for anyone considering or already working within a construction or civil engineering environment. This course provides Health and Safety awareness and is endorsed by Build UK as a standard training for all operatives on site.
Aims
To give a clear understanding of Regulations & Legislation that applies to construction work and is an ideal refresher for any operative that has previously completed training in Health & Safety.
Course Content
• Accident prevention
• Health & Safety law
• Control and management of the site and your how your role fits in with this
• Risk assessments and method statements
• Performing safely on site
• Reporting unsafe acts to prevent an accident
• Individual & employee responsibilities
• What to do if you think anyone’s Health and Safety is being put at risk
Assessment
At the end of this course, all delegates will have a clear understanding of the requirements of Health and Safety Legislation and their responsibilities to comply with them.
Candidates will need to complete a multiple-choice exam at the end of the CITB course. They will also need to engage and interact with others throughout the day.
Certificate
This certification for this course is valid for 5 years and is endorsed by Build UK as a standard training for all operatives. The certificate is part of CSCS Green Card requirements.
To remain certified in this area, you will need to retake the course before the expiry date or have completed an NVQ2 or higher in your skills set.

With its timely intercession at the tail end of summer, Virgo always seems to me like a real opportunity to feel into what is next. To access a greater sense of clarity and creativity. And to start to ready ourselves to fully call in the new aspects that are calling each of us.

This is also a great way that we can contribute to the collective. For as we each focus on that which is calling, we open up more of the field for others to connect to their own heart centredness and a more expanded sense of self.

As the sun travels out of Leo into Virgo the energy of creation is heightened with the auspicious presence of the Royal Star Regulus. An ideal time to focus on calling in your highest timeline and attracting what your heart desires. Further anchoring heart energy within and without.

This will be an energy activation and will include a transmission and/or connection to the Dragons. We will come together online and get those energies moving. 

What’s an energy activation? An energy activation is a reawakening of part or parts of your Divine blueprint. It has the capacity to create lasting change, by removing blocks, habits, patterns or stagnancy that are ready to go! 

This particular activation will most likely use a blend of guided meditation, channelling and light language, to bypass the conscious mind, as I am guided during our time together.

Quarterly meetings at the Academy
To ensure a well-rounded learning experience, you will be required to attend face-to-face lessons at the Academy on a quarterly basis, which means every three months. These sessions serve several important purposes:

Practical Units: Some aspects of the course require hands-on practical training. The face-to-face lessons will cover these practical units, allowing you to gain valuable experience and apply the knowledge you have acquired during the virtual learning sessions.

Attending quarterly face-to-face lessons provides a balanced approach to your learning journey. Yes, you will have 3 months’ time from the start of your course to find a placement.
The Academy provides a list of Private and NHS Dental Surgeries, who are regularly contacting us when looking for more Trainee Dental Nurses, so you can contact them directly as a registered student at the Academy. The curriculum is based on the GDC (General Dental Council) registration requirements for dental nurses. It sets out the knowledge, skills and behavioural requirements that should be developed and demonstrated. These are set out in terms of professional competencies, with the assessment method clearly outlined (e.g. how the skills and knowledge will be assessed in the final examinations – via written questions such as multiple choice (MCQ) or extended matching questions (EMQ) or via Objective Structured Clinical Examinations – OSCEs). We are proud to announce that our Dental Nursing students has the highest examination pass rate in OSCE examinations!

What Can You Expect to Earn as a Dental Nurse? Compared to other caring professions, Dental Nursing is well paid and offers plenty of opportunity for continued training and development. This is great for those looking on a the long-term plan for their career and those who wish to work their way up the ladder through continued learning, experience & hard work. Trainee Dental Nurse salary for standard working week will be around £23,000 per annum. Average wage for a qualified Dental Nurses between £40,417 to £42,350 p.a.
When are the exams?
There are two exams:
1. Multiple choice theory exam. November and March.
2. Practical exam. January and June. 
Record of Experience (eROE)
To be eligible to sit your first exam, you have to complete your electronic Record of Experience (eROE). The eROE has to be submitted to your tutor by 31st Jan for March exam, and 31st August for November exam. 
London Waterloo Academy supports Mouth Cancer Research Foundation and encouraging learners to raise the awareness and participate in annual 10k walk.



Study mode – virtual (via Zoom) live stream lessons combined with a quarterly meetings Saturday/Sunday at the Academy
