Practicalities
Location: This workshop can be conducted either at your premises or at an off-site location. It is expected that the client will arrange the venue, along with food and refreshments for learners though out the day. However, this can be arranged on your behalf on request.

Attendees: These workshops are designed to run best with between 15 - 30 learners at a time.

Cost: We typically run 2-3 workshops in a day, either covering a range of topics or to enable larger cohorts to spilt across the day. We charge £9,000 (ex. He holds a PhD in Petroleum Geoscience from the University of Adelaide. He has held various Post-Doctoral and Senior Research positions at the University of Adelaide, examining geochemical and risk management processes for CO₂ storage, and worked for BP, London in 2008, in their CCS business unit, supporting BP as it developed international commercial scale CCS projects. He joined CO2CRC in 2012 and progressed through various roles including Storage Program Manager, Business Strategy Manager, and Senior Manager &ndash; Technology Development. He is accountable for planning, executing &amp; implementing decarbonisation technologies for intensive industries, with a particular focus towards applied storage technology demonstration. His work enables CO2CRC to translate innovative, user driven technologies from bench to field scale. In addition, he is the science lead for CO2CRC&rsquo;s latest Otway International Test Centre demonstration on storage optimisation (Otway Stage 4). He is Australia&rsquo;s Delegate for the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum, a Ministerial-level international climate change initiative. He holds a strong passion for developing and delivering pragmatic and sustainable technical solutions to reduce CO₂ emissions.Your second course instructor&nbsp;is a Senior Geophysicist with 20 years of international experience in petroleum and CCS industries. He received his Master&rsquo;s degree in Petroleum Geosciences at Imperial College, London and completed his PhD in Geophysics at Curtin University. He has worked for National Oil Companies in the Middle East, operators in SE Asia and directed an international consultancy in Australia for a decade prior to joining the global CCS leader CO2CRC. He has experience in seismic data acquisition, processing and static modelling of geological data in Australasia, South America and the Middle East. His research interests are the sealing potential of shales and innovative seismic techniques such as Fibre Optics.Your third course instructor&nbsp;is a Senior Reservoir Engineer with CO2CRC where he is currently undertakes reservoir modelling for Otway Stage 4 CO2&nbsp;injection experiments at the Otway International Test Centre. He is a key member of the CO2CRC-led Australian CCS Regulatory Affairs Task Force, a technical peer reviewer for the IEAGHG&rsquo;s R&amp;D programme and was also awarded the best oral presentation at the APPEA 2023 conference. &nbsp;He also supports CO2CRC&rsquo;s consulting arm (CO2Tech) performing various CCUS-focused studies including dynamic modelling for CO2&nbsp;storage assessments and has experience reviewing monitoring, measurement and verification plans for several international clients. He holds a master&rsquo;s degree in physics from the University of Manchester, UK and an MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University in Aberdeen, UK. Prior to joining CO2CRC, He worked as a reservoir engineer for Woodside Energy and has previously worked in a variety of consulting roles including at EY.Your fourth course instructor&nbsp;is a versatile Geoscience professional with 8 years of experience spanning various sectors, holding a PhD in Geology along with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree. She has worked as a Production Geologist and Exploration Geologist at ExxonMobil Australia, where she gained global experience across multiple geological basins. Prior to this, she served as a Geologist at the National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator (NOPTA), contributing to the oversight of the regulatory framework for petroleum activities in offshore Australia. At CO2CRC, she has combined her extensive regulatory and geological expertise as a Techno-Regulatory Advisor. A key component of this course will examine the regulatory framework supporting CCS in a variety of jurisdictions including the Gulf of Mexico in the United States, as well as frameworks across the Asia Pacific. Your first course instructor has over 22 years’ experience in petroleum & carbon capture and storage (CCS), working in academic, industry and R&D management sectors, gaining insights from a variety of countries and business types. He holds a PhD in Petroleum Geoscience from the University of Adelaide. He has held various Post-Doctoral and Senior Research positions at the University of Adelaide, examining geochemical and risk management processes for CO₂ storage, and worked for BP, London in 2008, in their CCS business unit, supporting BP as it developed international commercial scale CCS projects. He joined CO2CRC in 2012 and progressed through various roles including Storage Program Manager, Business Strategy Manager, and Senior Manager – Technology Development. He is accountable for planning, executing & implementing decarbonisation technologies for intensive industries, with a particular focus towards applied storage technology demonstration. His work enables CO2CRC to translate innovative, user driven technologies from bench to field scale. In addition, he is the science lead for CO2CRC’s latest Otway International Test Centre demonstration on storage optimisation (Otway Stage 4). He is Australia’s Delegate for the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum, a Ministerial-level international climate change initiative. He holds a strong passion for developing and delivering pragmatic and sustainable technical solutions to reduce CO₂ emissions.
Your second course instructor is a Senior Geophysicist with 20 years of international experience in petroleum and CCS industries. He received his Master’s degree in Petroleum Geosciences at Imperial College, London and completed his PhD in Geophysics at Curtin University. He has worked for National Oil Companies in the Middle East, operators in SE Asia and directed an international consultancy in Australia for a decade prior to joining the global CCS leader CO2CRC. He has experience in seismic data acquisition, processing and static modelling of geological data in Australasia, South America and the Middle East. His research interests are the sealing potential of shales and innovative seismic techniques such as Fibre Optics.
Your third course instructor is a Senior Reservoir Engineer with CO2CRC where he is currently undertakes reservoir modelling for Otway Stage 4 CO2 injection experiments at the Otway International Test Centre. He is a key member of the CO2CRC-led Australian CCS Regulatory Affairs Task Force, a technical peer reviewer for the IEAGHG’s R&D programme and was also awarded the best oral presentation at the APPEA 2023 conference. He also supports CO2CRC’s consulting arm (CO2Tech) performing various CCUS-focused studies including dynamic modelling for CO2 storage assessments and has experience reviewing monitoring, measurement and verification plans for several international clients. He holds a master’s degree in physics from the University of Manchester, UK and an MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University in Aberdeen, UK. Prior to joining CO2CRC, He worked as a reservoir engineer for Woodside Energy and has previously worked in a variety of consulting roles including at EY.
Your fourth course instructor is a versatile Geoscience professional with 8 years of experience spanning various sectors, holding a PhD in Geology along with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree. She has worked as a Production Geologist and Exploration Geologist at ExxonMobil Australia, where she gained global experience across multiple geological basins. Prior to this, she served as a Geologist at the National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator (NOPTA), contributing to the oversight of the regulatory framework for petroleum activities in offshore Australia. At CO2CRC, she has combined her extensive regulatory and geological expertise as a Techno-Regulatory Advisor. With places from any one nationality limited to 10% and native and non-native English speakers mixed at all times, we guarantee our students a truly international experience of a lifetime.



Academics
Our high-quality academic summer school programmes are designed to cater specifically for the needs of international students. Classes meet for 3 hours each weekday morning and are taught by our highly qualified team of teachers who are all experienced, working professionals in their subject areas.

Each student combines their academic summer school programme with one of our unique, elective courses which meet for four afternoons each weekday. If you have ever wanted to explore sketchbook journalling, this exclusive new workshop with the Edinburgh Sketcher is the perfect place to start.
On this 3.5 hour workshop, artist Mark Kirkham - known locally as the Edinburgh Sketcher - will show you how to capture what you see quickly and lift your sketches off the page using a little watercolour, and share why sketchbook journalling has become such an important part of his day-to-day life.
You will explore how words can be used as decoration, and add depth to your drawing. 
Sketching items from still life, you will learn how to choose what to include; and how to link your sketches together using colour and composition. 
Starting with a new sketchbook, Mark will help you overcome any fears you have of facing the blank page, and build your confidence with mark making. 
Using the tips and techniques you learn on the day, you will leave ready to continue your sketchbook journalling at home.
This workshop will be held indoors in our welcoming and supportive environment in Edinburgh's City Centre New Town.
The price includes locally-sourced Shibui teas and Mr Eion coffee, a wee snack, and all the materials you need to get started.
You will take home the lovely sketchbook journal you start on the day, and we hope it will inspire you to make sketchbook journalling a regular feature of your creative life.

The Arienas Collective workshops, courses and events are run from a welcoming and supportive environment within a Georgian mews home in Edinburgh’s City Centre New Town. We invite you to join us, leave any day-to-day worries behind and immerse yourself in being creative.
Spaces on our workshops and courses are limited so that our creative team of artists and makers can offer you the hands-on help and support you need to make the most of your time with us. 
Our taster and introductory workshops focus on teaching creative skills and methods you can continue practising at home, using affordable materials and equipment. Where more expensive equipment is required we will mention this in the workshop description.
All the equipment and materials you need are included in the price, unless stated otherwise. 
Light refreshments from local suppliers are provided. On full day workshops you are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat inside or out. There is also a wide range of independent sit-in or takeaway delis, cafés, and restaurants, plus a range of supermarkets all within a 5-10 minute walk.
Accessibility
The workshop space is on the first-floor of our Georgian mews home and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Blue badge holders can park outside our front door on the single yellow line by arrangement.
Allergies
The workshop space is in our open plan living space and is not nut free. Please let us know about any skin or food allergies before booking. We offer a dairy-free milk and gluten free snack alternative.
Minimum number no refund policy
To ensure we can always pay our creatives a fair fee, we require a minimum number of bookings for each workshop and for this reason bookings are non-refundable. Should we have to cancel due to low numbers, we will offer you the option to swap to an alternative date or workshop, or to request a refund.
We do our very best to avoid cancellations. Since we often get late bookings, we keep our workshops on sale for as long as possible. We realise that some of you travel from afar, so if you book a space and have not yet received an email confirming your workshop is going ahead and need to make plans for your trip, please get in touch before booking any travel or accommodation so we can update you on booking numbers. Or check in before booking.
Private workshop bookings
Most of our workshops are also available to book for: private get-togethers with family and friends; themed wedding and birthday celebrations; corporate team building and well-being purposes; and in-store retail events for your customers. If you’d like to know more please Email Lynn.

What is the AM2 assessment? The AM2 assessment is an industry recognised trade test designed to evidence that candidates have gained all relevant and safety-critical competencies during their training process. It provides a single standard that has been agreed upon by employers within the electrical industry, giving a reliable and trusted guarantee of safe, high-quality skills for the electrotechnical industry. Who is this for? This is aimed at apprentices who are coming to the end of their training for the JIB apprentice training scheme and the Installation of modern apprenticeships. This course is also for experienced electricians, specifically those who are looking at taking the experienced worker route (AM2E.) There are a range of assessments for candidates based on their level: AM2 – This is for candidates undertaking the JIB mature candidate assessments and those following the level three NVQ who isn’t an apprentice. AM2S – This is for electrotechnical apprentices who are training against the apprenticeship standard AM2E – This is for experienced workers who are completing the experienced worker assessment. Please note: this can only be taken once you have gained the experienced worker qualification, proof must be provided before booking the AM2 assessment. What does this assessment consist of? Overall, the AM2 is an in-depth assessment carrying out tasks to show what you have learnt on your training. It is a practical assessment with five sections (six for AM2E and AM2S) and a short online component. Candidates will be expected to install, connect, terminate, inspect, test, commission and diagnose faults, following installation specifications provided and any relevant statutory and non-statutory regulations on: A three-phase distribution board and subcircuit A central heating/sustainable energy system Lighting and power circuits A data cabling system A safety services circuit and device Installation of containment systems (AM2E and AM2S only) Candidates will complete timed tasks in equipped areas that contain typical electrical installation wiring systems – all work must comply with BS7671 Wiring Regulations, industry best practice, and meet the requirements of relevant health and safety legislation. The assessment will be carried out in strict exam conditions across 2.5 days. Do I need an AM2 certificate to work as an electrician? Apprentices must pass their AM2 test in their final year to complete their apprenticeship. Also, if the apprenticeship standard is not being followed, an AM2 certificate and a level three NVQ is required to gain a gold card. If you are already working as an electrician, you will not need an AM2 certificate. If you are training to be an electrician and are registering for your NVQ level three in Electrical Installation or Maintenance, the electrotechnical diploma now includes the AM2. The AM2 certification is an industry recognised and something that many employers will actively seek when hiring new staff. It can also be attractive to potential customers.

Our Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) refresher training courses, available both online and in-person, are designed for managers and individuals in positions of authority who completed their original SMSTS training program less than three years ago.

Aims
Participants will undertake a concise yet equally engaging training program covering all essential aspects of enforcing health and safety codes of practice at construction sites. Topics include in-depth discussions on risk assessments and effective methods for monitoring and managing industry-specific hazards.
Instructions
For online courses labeled “Remote Learning,” a tutor will deliver the training via video call.
All SMSTS courses are delivered and assessed in English. Participants must have a good command of the language to successfully complete the program.

Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Refresher

This two-day course is a must for anyone who is considering or already working in a role with supervisory responsibilities. This course provides an understanding of health, safety, welfare, and environmental issues. It highlights legal responsibilities and the need to promote health and safety to supervise effectively.
It is endorsed by Build UK as the standard training for all supervisors working on Build UK sites.
Aims
To give a clear understanding of health, safety, welfare, and environmental legislation that affects your supervisory role. To help you fulfil your responsibilities regarding health, safety, welfare, and the environment. To help you implement new guidance and industry best practice affected by changes.
Course Content
• Health and safety law and how it will apply to supervisors.
• Your supervisory responsibilities in controlling site safety.
• Risk assessments and the need for method statements.
• Effective site inductions, toolbox talks and method statement briefings.
• Monitoring site activities effectively.
• Timely intervention when bad practice is identified.
Prerequisites
This course is for you if you are considering, or already have, supervisory responsibilities.
Assessment
At the end of this course, all delegates will have a clear understanding of controlling health and safety on site from a supervisor’s role.
Certificate
This certification for this course is valid for 5 years and is endorsed by Build UK as a standard training for all supervisors.
To remain certified in this area, you will need to take a refresher course before the expiry date on your certificate, otherwise the full course will need to be retaken.

Please note all Site Supervisor Training courses with the venue “Remote Learning” will be delivered by a tutor over a video call.

Course Summary

BRCGS Professional is a learning program that will give you international recognition for the key skills and knowledge essential for product safety management. As a BRCGS Professional you will be well-equipped to manage any GFSI-recognised standard in your business, and able to implement or manage product safety systems. BRCGS is the leading provider of GFSI-recognised Standards globally, respected for quality and brand protection assurance. 


This training program has been designed by the BRCGS Technical team, in response to demands from the industry for training on the skills necessary to implement effective product safety management program.


The courses are subject-specific, train the core skills needed for any product safety individual, and will help with maintaining any GFSI-recognised certification scheme.


The 3-day Fast Track program will comprise of 3 of the following 4 courses:

Risk Assessment – This one-day course will provide delegates with a thorough understanding of risk assessment and enable them to use different risk assessment models.
Root Cause Analysis – This one-day course will provide delegates with a thorough understanding of root cause analysis (RCA) to know its importance and be able to perform it competently.
