Description

Tuesdays 6-7.30pm UK time - 30 Aug, 6 Sep, 13 Sep, and 20 Sep

This course is for anyone who has uttered the words ‘I can’t draw!’ Over four weeks, we’ll prove that wrong, together. Join artist Julie Galante for this series of live online workshops delivered via Zoom to a small, interactive, welcoming group.

Using basic drawing materials, we’ll practice various forms of mark-making using objects around us as subject matter. We’ll cover line drawing, shading and value, texture, and composition.

By the end of the course, you’ll have more confidence when approaching any kind of drawing.

Recommended Materials
  • A4 sketchbook

  • Drawing paper (cartridge paper) - A3 or larger

  • Vine charcoal

  • Compressed charcoal

  • White compressed charcoal, pastel, or conte crayon

  • Graphite pencils (various hardnesses - HB, 2B, and 6B, for example)

  • Pencil sharpener (or craft knife)

  • Eraser

  • Fineliner pen

During the live sessions we’ll learn about various techniques and materials, and practice drawing household objects from life. In between sessions, participants are encouraged to keep a daily sketchbook to experiment with their newfound skills. There will be plenty of opportunity for sharing and individual feedback, as well.
