I'm sure the golf club is fantastic so sorry for only three stars. It would have been five had the gates opened for me and the house now a Playboy museum for us all to enjoy, not just a few golfers, but good luck to them. But I only went there looking for Victor Lownes' old house of entertainment back in the 70's and 80's.

I don't what it is like to play on but it is sited in some beautiful countryside, nestling between Pitstone hill / Ivinghoe Beacon on one side and the Ashridge Estate on the other. For once the footpaths for walkers are clearly signposted and do not cut across inconvenient parts of the course so walkers and golfers can enjoy the countryside on harmony. Seemed a popular spot for both activities.

Played 36 holes in County Foursomes. Great vibe as ever with premier feel to entrance and club house. Course was in very good knick apart from greens had not fully recovered from tining. Enigma is best word to use for the layout. I like it but stern test off many tees with rough more about penalty area than a place you might recover from. In 30 years it will be a must play.

Rented out for a party, staff where welcoming and the venue was perfect.

Very welcoming membership despite being an exclusive members only club. No tee booking just turn up and play. Most days there are roll ups which are happy to accept new members. Lovely club house.
